I just  bought SCS. paid AU$99.95

And it was WAY OFF from how I imagined!!!

I expected;

Round Curved streets, roads, highway, rail track, subway, ect...

Many types of street, roads, highway textures

variety of number of lanes in roads, avenues, highways....

drivable transports(including public transports) with 3D camera angles allowing me to BE in the city I created!

controllable and playable sims in the city!

angled, rotatable buildings, underground malls, national parks, non-square lots and buildings...

various environmental textures and city styles.

Just generally variety of realistic economy, building, logistics, transport network models with playable feature like driving a car or train across the city.

MAN! I've been waiting and dreaming for that while I played SC4 with hundreds of ST-exchanges and Modds.

And EA betrays me like this!

I am really disappointed with EA's lack of professionalism. How can they just release the half finished game in the market? do they think we are bunch of imbeciles?

do you think I will be able to play the game with

GTA style(free style) + Sims + SC4 +Total War style ever?

I will pay anything for that kind of game...

i am going to assume there will be a follow-up in an expansion pack kinda like what they did with SC4 when it was released. just remember we have been spoiled by SC4 and RH.

Okay, I am the first person to say how disappointed in the direction they took this game but how can you say you bought this game expecting all of the things you did when all of the pre-publicity and talk on different sites made it clearly known that none of this was going to happen in this game?

SimCity 2013: Too much sim and too little city...

In Australia, if you buy a game from EB Games you can take it back if you don't like it. (I think it has to be within seven days, I'm not sure). I always get my games from there for just this reason.

I got SCS but I decided to keep it.

Yeah, I think we all where looking forwards for this...Now we look to Cities Unlimited!

Hmmm....I'm in the same boat with you here....Which is why, once I finish High School and College, I'm getting into Game design, to build a game like this.

Yeah it's my fault. I admit that it was an inpulsive purchase LOL.

The brand of "simcity" just blocked my mind. I am generally weak when it comes to any city building games from pharaoh, childrent of nile  to SCs and Citylife.

    I should have checked...

It's not like I want to return the game, I am still going to keep the game as a different city building game from SC serise.

But I am worried about SC never returning to it's original style from now on.

And the statement that CFO of EA referred to SCS as a disappointment makes me worry even more as it indicates that they are focused on financial profit, which might mean they will succumb to current game trend betraying the classic SC style.

Bt the way th CU looks really cool. This has got my hopes up again...

It's one thing to know it's going to be a disappointment before you buy it, I can only imagine the way you must of felt after installing the game with no expectations other than what you've grown to love in SC4. I feel for you man, I really do. Here's hoping CU cures all.

I'm surprised you didn't know this was coming, with all this publicity of how bad it is. I hate to say it but I don't feel bad for you, you should have done some research before you went out and bought it.

Look, I havent posted much on here, if not at all, but I must say the following.

Few years back Blue Byte released a new style of the old Classic Settlers, it was reworked much like how societies was, and they made a new game completely (was made into more the traditional RTS), after 18 months of classic settlers fans going nuts about what was done Blue Byte decided to release Settlers 2: 10th aniversary edition, it was a remade Settlers 2 (with new graphics and enchanced AI) much to the delight of old school settlers fans. Now with that said, Im hoping (and praying) that maybe they (EA, Maxis, Tilded Mill) will stick with how Simcity 4 was made, but upgraded without adding any more to the game, just give it new flashy graphics, and an enchanced AI (especially to what route Sims will take to travel somewere). Atleast that way it stays true to what Simcity was and will satisfy the more agrivated diehard fans.

    cheers

EA owes us one i think. the only way they can redeem themselves is by giving us the SC: 5 like we demand, and want so badly. bring it on EA, what are u waiting for eh?

    Hey every one.

I don't comment much but this time I can't hold back. I have to agree with titaniumnuts about expectations. Of course I did not pay as much money as him. Frankly he got ripped off. But what a boaring and redundant game. No variety, running in circles trying to keep up with the demands and keping the sims happy when playing the scenarios. At one point you have no choice but to selects the same buildings over and over.

Oh, decorations, It gets boringly worse having to select the same wall or somewhat park in order to keep up on creativity so you can build houses. Roads! Railroads! Bridges!.....

Anyways. All this to say that I tried, I gave it a chance but not what I was hoping.

    Take care guys

well i caved in, i bought SC:S today.

so far its alot like tycoon city: New York. only with city life type culture thrown in there. i will say the game is a resource whore if i ever seen one. i have dual video cards, and my system still lags like crap. needs optimization, but so far its not that bad. overall it should never have been given the SimCity name, but what can ya do.

Well, if the game could get some quality modders behind it, many things would be accomplished. Unfortunately the word of mouth is so bad even when not trying the game first that people that are heavily into SC4 still to this day in modding, have no desire to even try the game let alone mod any of it. There is a great deal of stuff that can be modded into the game, but the modding community behind the game is very tiny and lacks more than a couple people that really know what they are doing.

Of course if TM would get off the duffs and get them a way of creating really new buildings instead of reskinning old ones, that would help tremendously as well. I personally can only build so many cities that have row after row of row houses standing in a row. (say that fast 10 times).

Sadly the bottom line is that they simply should have named it something else and then it's likely they would have sold better, and had more modders involved with the game.

They downgraded the new Simcity game because they can and it is for free, athough EA company doesn't know what will happen to them if they continue to do that and it could lead them to bankrupcty.

If they continue to downgrade Simcity, one day, there is going to be no transporatation, no railroads, no bridges, no rewards, one type of a road, one type of residental, commercial, and industrial building, and etc; and there is a chance that there is still going to be some idiots buying the super downgraded game.

titaniumnutz, let's get straight. EA has just owned you.

Let's hope for the best, as it is the only thing we can do besides blaming SCS over and over again. Perhaps EA might give Maxis a try. And Maxis will develope the SIMCITY5. Gosh guys. If SC5 would created by any mean no much sooner than 2010 and probably even later. It will use advanced technology. God knows how much joy we would have.

I'm blaming spore. It's good game, but maxis is giving it so much attention and EA is so much money lover it gave the developing to TM. God knows if Maxis would just finnish Spore on time perfect or not and get started with SC5. Boy, i am a dreamer.

Titaniumnutz, I gotta say, you really should have read a review from here first, I mean, there is a specific forum for that purpose, but i feel for you, you spent $100 for SCS, I would advise returning it, if the store you bought it from will allow you to. We all make mistakes bro, but all the same, it sucks, its a good thing you have SC4RH to turn to!
