You're thinking of sloppet. He did indeed have the most at one point, but not anymore. He's in third now.

Yes, I know sloppet's profile says he has 21357 posts, but he doesn't. That number has been tinkered with by the admins. The real number is... well, we don't know exactly but research and my memory says it's about 14,000, maybe a little less. Which means I'm pretty certain that I'm past him by now.

I think I'm a loyalist because i alway's leave comments for peoples uploads and I visit this site pretty much every day. Oh and can you put these in order from best or more appreciated to lowest or least appreciated?

The ranks are based purely on post count. Commnets on the STEX, STEX uploads, time in chat, etc. all counts for absolutely nothing towards them.

It is perhaps a shortcoming of the idea, but we really only have it at all because forums always come with coding for such things (well, and for fun). So I wouldn't worry about being "ranked" as a Passerby. It's meaningless, anyway.

Although, Sporeum's Evo system is rather an improvement upon the one here. Post count actually doesn't count much towards it. The single largest factor is how long you've been a member. Other known factors incude your user rating (a feature which is disabled here) and certain admin-awarded "accolades". Presumably if such a system were in place here, STEX uploads and coments thereon would count towards it. But it doesn't work that way. Sporeum was able to do it because it was that way from the beginning there. It wasn't here, and it would be rather hard to implement such a thing once the site's already started and gotten going.

Anyways, as for putting them in order from most to least appreciated... that we can't do since how appreciated the member is has no bearing on their forum rank. You can be a jerk and be a Simtrop Zealot, you can be the nicest preson ever and be a Stranger. There is very little correlation between rank and overall quality of the member. The only weak correlation would be that you might expect a member who's contributed more and been around longer to have a higher post count, but that's not necessarily true.

I mean, dirk himself (whom nobody could possbily claim to have contributed more to this site than) has only 3351 posts, puttng him down at number 40-something on the list of top posters and with little more than one-tenth of the posts of the person in the number 1 slot (jacquilina has in excess of 32000 posts).

If you want to look for something more meaningful, there are five (arguably six) "ranks" a person can have which actually mean someting:

1) Webmaster

2) Administrator

3) Moderator

4) Chat Operator

5) Member

6) Banned

The first four you can immediately recognize by the huge badges they have under their names. The fifth is what 99.9% of the time someone who is badgeless will be. The sixth is reserved for the exceptionally idiotic or trouble causing people and is (fortunatley) a pretty small club.

Last time I checked, the Sporeum formula was:

( (A * B) +  (C – (D * E) – F) * G) + (H * I) + (J * K) + (L / M) + N) * P)

but some of those variables are constants.  For instance, M = 5.

Your rank (ie. Squatter, Loyalist) is determined by your post count.

In the future, don't double/triple post.. the edit button is there for you to add to your post if you forgot to mention something and noone has replied.

Forum ranks are not really indicative of what to expect of a member. You will want to simply do your best for the community, as this is about helping others and showcasing creativity, and not being a popularity contest.
