Hey I want to know how many people can you fit in your city?
I will be happy to see all sizes and screenshots would be really nice.
I am mostly looking for Medium sized cities. Other sizes are fine.

Question is: How creative can u be friend...there are many upon, many MODS and custom content available on the STEX that will increase your SIM population.....all depends on location, elevation, and what you provide in your city.... and of course, creative abilities. If you are NEW.....awesome....welcome to simtropolis.com ( have a look around if you have not already done so ).

Keep in mind.....this is a BIG SANDBOX....just work slowly. 4.gif

BTW...the "black background text" can be very annoying to most. 4.gif

If you ever want personal help....moderators are a blessing....But I am willing to help also....afterall.....we ALL were once "NEWBIES".  4.gif

Private message me anytime.  I hope to help.

250k-300k residents with an equal amount of commercial jobs, and some but not alot of space to spare [on a medium sized area]. it takes alot of high density, and quite a bit of demand but it is possible...

I think there was a thread about this topic about a year ago. The experiment was never completed, but I think the theoretical limit was around a million residents in a small city, or about 16 million in a large. This is without using BATs, which often contain higher numbers of residents than they should.

You basically have to have all R$$$ skyscrapers dilapidate into R$ buildings, which can house a tremedous amount of sims. Transit would be a major issue, without cheating by using NAM or something.

Personally, I've heard people on this forum claim higher pops, and also claim no BATs or mods, but I don't believe them. I asked for proof, but of course they never showed any.

I've built large cities with 1-2 million residents in them, which is pretty easy (and makes for ugly and boring cities), but it's a long way off the theoretical limits. I'd certainly believe pops of 4 million. I think I'd demand proof if someone is claiming 10 million. (It might be possible, but I've never seen it.)

And like I said, it has to be without BATs. Otherwise, it's not game-balanced.

SImple answer?

Find out the capacity of the biggest Level 8 residential (Ong Condos me thinks)

Find out how many will fit in a city.

Multiply!

And there you have it.

I think without mods, I got about 400,000 in one medium tile. It was extremely cramped considering it had three Ong Condos, two dilapidated to R$, and most transportation networks were roads and subway. I personally liked the fact that it was largely populated, but it was kinda ugly. With a few BATs like Lighthouse Tower (three to be exact), I got the population to about 750,000.

Small: 10,000

Medium: 400,000 (can hit 500,000 if I get rid of the last of the industry)

Large: 900,000 - the Capital

Most of these areas can still get 25% more people if I crammed in at Solaria

I know I can fit 350,000 sims in a medium sized tile with no BATs. I'm not sure how many more I could fit in though.

On a small city tile I managed to get 400,000 people. It was featured in one of my Defunct Cj's Tyrus just before the Cj closed had 430,203 people. There were 220 subway stations and 3 highways in that town. And the connections were constantly tied up. It was like a minature version of Tokyo ,Japan.

I'd like to think that one city can outgrow the boundaries of its tile... I couldn't build London in one large tile, no way, so you split it off into sections in the surrounding tiles too.

The numbers the add up in the tile are the obvious numbers, the best thing to do is line out your cities boundaries in your head (or in Paint/Photoshop) and add the numbers up yourself, that way, you get a much more realistic number instead of being confined to what SC4 tells you.
