The release candidate 1 of my new game configuration program has now been released for Mac OS X. The functionality is complete but now, the program must by tested to find out errors and things that are not userfriendly.

The final version will be released after two more release candidate versions have been tested. You may download it here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=198881

There is also a Windows version and the sourcecode availlable (to be compiled on any operating system)

The program possibly requires Mac OS 10.4 or later

I installed it, but it's disabling the 512 Radius mod. I use that so I don't have to lay water pipes, so when I load an existing city all the buildings become un-watered and begin to abandon. Thus, I haven't been able to test it much. I tried re-ordering the plugins, but it didn't help. Any ideas?

I got it to work by sticking it in the SC4Config plugins folder. But anyway, here's the location of the mod:

Sounds like it might be interesting. Is there a manual or some information out there somewhere that explains exactly what this does?

Edit:  Nevermind.  I found info in your signature.  3.gif

Is there documentation? I couldn't find anything on the Sourceforge page. I'm having trouble with the tool causing uncontrollably high R$$$ demand. There's also a big drop in overall traffic, as many residential buildings don't spawn any commuters.

The documentation needs to be written. Actually, there is nothing except the yellow note fields that are illustrated when hovering the mouse over any group box.

This is still a BETA release. The final version will be hosted on simcity fan pages too. The next BETA (RC2) will be released on dec. 14/15. Meanwhile I will collect error advices from RC1 to fix some bugs.

Can you offer any help on the following items?

Transit Tab/Transit Preference: What exactly is "none" for? Is that for industrial freight trips? Can you offer any better explanation of what these settings do?

Traffic Tab/Commute Trips: What is the "occupant radius", and what does changing it do?

Traffic Tab/Traffic Generated by Population: Changing these values doesn't seem to affect anything in the game. Perhaps this is a bug? In looking a bit deeper into the problem I mentioned before (residences generating few or no commuters compared to using one of the regular NAM pathfinding plugins), it appears that the number of commuters is only 5% of the capacity of the building (the supposed Maxis default) regardless of whether or not I change it in SC4Config. I find it odd that 5% would be the default, since it means that most single-family homes won't generate any traffic at all unless they have more than 20 occupants. All that being said, what sort of traffic is generated from commercial zones anyway?

Various Tab/Weather Simulation: What does this do? I'm not aware of any weather capabilities in the game to be modded.

Here's what happens to a city after "switching" from the NAM-only plugins to SC4Config:

Before I go and try to use this (right now isn't the best time, but I can get to it soon) a couple of questions:

Is it designed to supplant the main functions of the NAM or work in tandem?

Just out of curiosity, is this Mac only?

I just tried to use it. When you have finished do you have to save and then go export to get the changes to work in the game because when I click export it comes up with a message saying "an error occured while saving the game plugin". This also happens when I haven't changed anything.

Where the application is placed, the included subfolder Plugins must exist there. Otherwhile the application cannot save the output. At the moment, some bugs are known. RC2 will be released just before christmas.
