Ok, here is a city under construction, one of the few I have. I started this one from scratch, and I will show progress as it goes along. Its just a small, so it will go quick. I get bored with a standard grid, so I like to add some diagonals, and create some interesting intersections. I did add some custom content, almost all growables. See if you can pick them out as the city grows...

Besides the stuff that came with NAM (roads, intersections, etc), the buildings are 99% maxis.

Ok, time for a small update. I got a new water texture and a new cliff texture, so I am in the process of going through and re-saving all of my cities. I also got some new train stations, and a lot of coastal stuff. More on the coastal stuff later.

In the meantime, I have updated some of my exsisting cities, and worked on their transit networks.

First up we have Chaparral, a medium city that previously only had some highways in it. I did some development, and made an interesting area.

    Chaparral2s.jpg

This is Feenoth, a small city south of panopticon city, the capital city of panopticonia. It is bordered by medium or large cities on 3 sides, so there is a lot of traffic in the city. The rail system is heavily used... on the rail connection to Panopticon City, the congestion is 100% and the usage is anywhere from 35,000 to nearly 60,000.

Yea, I get really bored sometimes with a standard grid, so I like to mix it up a little. My style is to have no wasted space, but I have played enough to sacrifice a little here and there...

EDIT: Pics are up. Dont forget to click on them to see the larger (better) version!

This is about Jigsaw City. I think your toll road is much more realistic for travel. If you look at the Los Angeles Area, they have a few toll roads that are MUCH less congested than the regular highways, but it comes with a catch. You have to pay almost $4.00 a way, depending on how far you go. Thank you for recreating that in your Jigsaw City. (I have to use that huge speach just to say Nice Job! 4.gif)

Nice job. I would suggest taking a trip to the Stex and looking at some custom content. Just to mix up the building styles. I like your good use of space.

Quick update for now. Here are some new region shots. As you can see, I have done a fair amount of work since the last update. Here are some comparison shots.

Please click on the images for the full size. Youll be able to see a lot more.

I obviously changed the water color. I also changed the cliff texture. I updated the mountains in the NW to make them look a little more realistic. I think they look much better.

I gained over 2.575 million res pop, almost 1 million commercial pop, and  nearly 1.2 million in  industrial pop.

Most of the work has been done in the NW and SE. I got fascinated with the rail system, so just about every new city I built has a TON of rail traffic. I have at least 5 stations at over 50,000 rail passengers in the region, probably more. I use rail and highway as the only means of city connections, so they get worked pretty hard.

Smithton is a purely commercial city. I have 4 other cities absolutely pouring residential into it. It is nearly 100% CS$$$ and has over 160,000 jobs! Ill post updates of it next. I was never really aware that there were 8 levels of res and comm, so I was able to get my frist level 8 in Smithton (a few more came after that).

I also download a lot of the CSK stuff from pegasus productions. Wood Harbor (SE) and Von Kindern (NW) both have their entire coastline's covered by coastal development stuff.

My future goals are to finish off Rhem, complete a city W of Von Kindern, and finish Bjorn (S of Estivez @ the confluence). Then I would like to tackle the Taschner/Kittridge/Malachi (which is purely HT Ind, Res, Comm, respectively). I would like to keep them purely with one of each type, but with the given terrain setup it may be difficult.

I will try to post some pics of the new cities soon... its just difficult to sit down and not play 4.gif

    Enjoy,

    b0x

P.S. I have a quick question, if no one minds. Is there any way to edit the size of a city lot after the region has been generated? Custom sizes even? That would be handy. I realized after it was much too late that the layout of each region and its city lots was random, and you could have any number of large lots. I only got one 15.gif

I have so much to show you guys... Its just a pain in the butt do make the screenshots. I have just been using print screen, then pasting into PS. Is there an easier way? Like press a button, and a screen shot gets saved, rather than having to come out and paste it.

I am a numbers man. I like seeing big numbers, which is why I play the way I do. I have some insane transit data to post, just need to SS it. Rail has been my thing lately... Lots of rail lines in my newer cities. I have a city I just finished with over 400k res, and hardly any road traffic problems.

And... I did it. I obliterated Panopticon City. Yes, the capital city of the region is now gone. I am going to re-build it entireley with all the custom stuff I have. Previously, the transit network was poor. Nearly 80% of the traffic was cars. I hope to get that number around 30%-40%. I will be working on it a lot... stay tuned.

I spent hours on the large city in the middle of my region, remaking it. It was going to be perfect. Superb transport, PEGs OWW and CDK covering every inch of coastline, lots of custom stuff. I was about half done... when it happened.

First I found out how to add and change new space in the region using sc4 startup manager. I was like cool. So now I have 4 large cities total, or at least I did. I hadn't ever even noticed th import city button, so, for whatever reason, I imported my large city to another large city. And I was like cool, it worked, but I don't really want this here. So I deleted it. Much to my chagrin, I went back to continue playing it in its original location.. and its gone. It never occurred to me that it would actually move the city and not just make a copy of it, but thats what happened. I almost cried. So, now, I said screw it for that city. I broke it up into 3 medium and 4 smalls and will just fill in the space with more actual cities.

That said, I have some crazy transport numbers. I will do my best to take some pics, but its a pain. I may just resort to using the in-game snapshot feature. To hell with cropping everything in PS and stuff. Quick and dirty method from now on.

I have 3 stations I have counted so far that have over 100,000 total usage (most are sub/train/bus combo stations). I have one city that has about 18k in res pop and zero everything else... and has nearly 175,000 with 80k of that coming from subway... and get this... it only has 2 connections to other cities. Imagine the numbers when I get the cities built on the other 2 sides. Nuts.

I also got the el rail hill side pieces, and have been using them a lot. They look amazing, I really like them.

Like I said, more pics soon, hopefully.

    Happy Holidays!
