Hey, guys, brand new here, but I have been reading a lot. Some really amazing stuff out there. I just got Region Census, what a great tool. Anyways, as I have learned over the years, SC is the most addicting game ever, hence I am up at 4 am posting pictures 4.gif

Nothing too special really, just massiveness. I have been working on this on and off for about a year now probably. 75% was built without the NAM, the rest was, and I just got the industry quadrupler the other day. I have 'activated' it on maybe 6-8 cities. No cheats, everything is legit. I also rarely use monuments/ploppables... I really enjoy watching everything grow.

EVERY PICTURE IS CLICKABLE. It will take you to the full size version.

Wow. Thanks for the replies everyone.

    A little more background:

I built most of the reqion pretty much on my own. I never even thought to look online for help or anything until well into the construction. Most of the things I figured out on my own. Like I said before, about 75% of the cities were built without NAM. But boy, do I wish I had it all along. It is a lifesaver.

When I started, I had planned just build build build. I wanted to fill every city in the reqion. I started with a blank region and added the big river down the middle. I added some mountains and relief in a few other places to break it up a little, but it was really designed to have a lot of flat ground. I didn't realize the amount and placement of each city size tile was random, so I only have one large city. I would have liked probably 3. I do have quit a few medium cities, which is good. It is a good balance between size and performance. On the large, it runs pretty slow, and I do have a lot of problems with time stopping totally. I figured out just by accident that deleting a road and replacing it usually gets it going again.

So what do you guys want? Pictures of the entire city zoomed out? Close in pictures of particularly interesting areas? Something in between? All of the above? 4.gif

I plan on posting my pics in 960x600 since I play widescreen, but I can change it to 800x420 (something like that) if I need to. It just makes them very small otherwise.

Also, you can see so much more with a full size pic, but I am trying to stay within the rules. Do you prefer links below like I did above? Is there another common method?

    On to the individual cities...

    Jouett

    R 351700

    C 119975

    I 31927

Named After: Jouett Meekin, a pitcher from 1891 to 1900 for the New York Giants.

This was where it all started. This was the first city, and it started very slow. This is by FAR my most mature city, at year 443. It is about as dense as it can get. I routinely go back to it after I build more in the region to update the demand, and I still struggle with some dilapidation, but overall its not too bad. This city is located near the top right of the region. You can locate it if you click on the full size version of the initial post. LINK

    4 Solar plants.

    No trash.

    No Dirty/Manufacturing Ind.

    Mayor Rating is about 80.

Very good infrastructure (good health, education, and crime).

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out, and it was a great base to start out the region.

    Jouett1s.jpg

    Jouett2s.jpg

Ill add some more pics of this city in a few. I used sharpen on the 2nd pic, and didnt on the first... which do you think looks better? I am kind of leaning towards leaving it unsharpened, but I wanted some other opinions.

UPDATE: I kept taking pics, and more kept building! Cool stuff.

    Jouett Cont.

Here are a couple more shots of Jouett. I think I have just about every reward placed somewhere in town.

WARNING: Clicking each picture will take you to the full size. These pictures are quite large. 1680x1050 and 2.5 to 3.5 megs. I would recommend broadband only.

Well, ST's image size limit is 800x600. You could either crop the images to 800x600 or, even better, post the smaller image and then link to a larger one. I like the sharpened picture better.

Good, now that all of that is out of the way, I can tell you how amazing your city looks. Lots of tall buildings. Excellent.

Yea, I am working on the custom part. Are there any like big packs that are easily installed? I just need some new stuff. Mainly only growable buildings... any special term for those?

I wont take too many more close in pics, its all pretty standard.

Nice start to a cj. I would suggest you download more custom content, and maybe using the cheat tastyzots to get rid of those zots when taking photos.

Ok, I added a list of all the cities to the first post. I will add a few more pictures of the more interesting cities, then work on getting some custom stuff.

    Breitenstein

    R 165545

    C 83682

    I  21464

Named after: Ted Breitenstein, pitcher for the St. Loius Browns and Cincinnati Reds from 1891-1901

This city is directly west of Jouett. It definately benefitted from Jouett's commerce and high population. It developed into a pretty dense city itself. It starts getting close to a mountainous region to the northwest of the region.

    Downtown at night:

    Breitenstein3s.jpg

A quaint mountain airport, flanked by a heavily travelled mountain railway that ferries commuters to and from Greenwich.

    Breitenstein1s.jpg

A treacherous little road that is perched on the cliffs near the water, headed toward Mohart.

Pretty nice! Only problem I see is that there is a cliff in front of the runway, which I'm guessing could lead to some complications. I also see you've put up a list of cities. That is one crazy long list.

Thanks 2nerdy4u. I suppose that might lead to some problems. 4.gif I was just lucky to find a place to stick it in up there... how many airports do you see in the mountains?

There are 90 cities on the list... I didnt think I had created that many... wow, I even impressed myself. I have about 25 un-named city tiles left in the region (some are totally under water), and 5-8 named tiles that pretty much only have some roads or highways through them. My goal is getting ever closer....

Now on to the custom content. I am totally new at this. Do I need to DL and install gmax, the BAT, and the plugin editor just to be able to use custom buildings? I am not going to worry about creating anything at this point, I just want to use stuff that already exsists. I tried to dig through all the stickies in the other forums, but just got confused. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Great update. The ledge on the last picture looks good and so does the downtown. Cant wait for more!

And for the custom content. no. Just search things on the STEX and when you find some stuff, download it to your plug-ins. I would highly recommend that you make a back-up folder just in case. And then un-zip the files into the plug-ins and go into the game and it should be in there.
