Anyone here think there'll ever make a Star Wars 7? I think with the books and other information out there, there is room for more films or at least a spin off film series and although there has been random mentions of a SW7 I hope they will make one.

Last I heard, the Lucas family doesn't want George Lucas making any more films, citing his age as their reason, and they don't want to sell of the intellectual property rights either. That said, unless they change their mind on one of those two things, there won't be a SW 7.

As I understand it, Cartoon Network has been contracted to make another series like Clone Wars to cover everything that happened between 3 and 4. I have no proof of this though.

Originally, there was going to be 7,8, and 9.  But given how disappointing 1, 2, and 3 were, I'm glad they are stopping.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

I doubt it. I think he wanted Star Wars to be centered around Vader. Vader died at the end of 6, so I don't think he could take it any farther from there. Still, that leaves open the possibility of something before 1 or between 3 and 4 (although I think the end of 3 tied into 4 pretty well and adding something in between would destroy that).

The plan of making nine films was dropped waaay back in the 80's. They let the books wander into post-Jedi territory instead.

So no more movies.

A TV show is in the works, which will take place between episodes 3 and 4, however it will not feature any familiar characters in major parts. It'll be a largely seperate story within the same canon.

Hard to say whether that will go much anywhere, though. Could very well end up being one of those canceled after a few episodes things... depends on how well it does.

How could there be a #7? #6 was THE END! With the Emperor and Vader dead, the (second) Death Star destroyed, and the Imperials crushed by a pathetic rebellion, how could the saga continue?

Also note that other characters like Yoda and Obi-Wan are dead. There is nothing to continue with. If they made a 7th, it will destroy both the classic movies' ending as well as screw up the entire storyline from #1 to #6. It ends with 6.

there's something with the aliens from another galaxy that takes over the entire galaxy.

If anyone here has played Kotor and/or Kotor II that would make an excellent movie. Its practically already presented in movie form lol. It wouldn't really be an episode 7 though, seeing as it takes place before even episode 1

Also there are LOADS of books. Barnes and Noble has a complete aisle just for star wars novels lol. So there definitely is more to the story after vader

The answer: books.

The saga does not end there. It continues with Luke Skywalker and eventually his children. The end is actually 9.

Lucas said if it does happen it will be his kids who do it, he doesn't want to be a part of it.

The live action TV show is coming out next year I believe, with each episode based on the adventures of a minor character from the movies. Apparently there will be some small cameos from the major stars, I hear MacGregor is meant to be in it at one point.

You must realize how people can just change the story line and I meant like making the books into films - So llike a spin off series 4.gif It seems a shame that they don't seem to want to make one because there such potential.

Well All I have to say to that is that MOST people who have seen the movies HAVE NOT read the books (myself included).  If you look at just the movies, it ends.  It may be different with all that additional stuff from books, video games, etc., but if you just look at the movies, it ends.

The only thing that I could see that could be made into a possible movie is what happens between Episodes 3 and 4.  You know, the birth of the Rebellion, Death Star construction, Clones to Stormtroopers, Luke growing up and stuff like that.  The movie would end with the Bothan Spys (or who ever was) stealing the plans to the Death Star and putting them in R2D2.

haljackey: The only problem with making something between 3 and 4 is that it would destroy or simply repeat the ending of 3. The ending of 3 showed Luke going to Owen and the Death Star being constructed. The transformation of Clone to Stormtrooper happened with Order 66. Something between 3 and 4 would have to have a somewhat detached plot or none at all.

No!  Save us.  That has a good ending and it is all it needs.

If you want some more swashbuckling SF, let's retread Doc Smith's Skylark series.  The whole four books would make one good movie, especially if it was cleaned up of the 1930's politically incorrect garbage, and the  plot recaps dropped.  A two hour survey of the Universe.  On second thought, maybe two movies.  1. Skylark of Space + Skylark Three + Skylark of Valeron;   2. Skylark Duquesne + some more plot.

As for Flash Gordon type stuff with all kinds of weird alien good and bad guys, how about Doc Smith's Triplanetary leading into the Lensman series.  Could start out with the dawn of civilization, and so forward.  Be prepared to totally suspend belief as we whomp around on the inertialess drive at speed many times c.  This would probably be better as a 10 to 13 part TV series after the initial movie.
