Just thought I'd start this thread and see what others will be doing this coming week; if you don't celebrate you can just go right by.  I've also added a poll...turkey, ham or other?  As for myself, I'll hang with my friends an family this week, but when I'm not doing that I'll take advantage of my time and go crazy with the BAT lol.  So what's everyone else going to do?  Please do share!

thanks for your time,

-Yoshiisland

Is Thanksgiving that ceremony where you celebrate the AmeriIndians who looked after the Founding Fathers, gave them food and land, and then who you slaughtered and drove into tiny reservations? 3.gif

yes, except blame yourself for chasing the puritans out of Great Britain.

anyway, I plan on proudly contributing to our economy by purchasing luxury technology items at low prices on the day after Thanksgiving.

Geez, I just aked what people were up to, but I'd rather this not become a flamewar.  I thought I'd be fun to see what others were doing, but since this is going nowhere: could some moderator or administrator please lock this?

Well, as I said, I WILL hang out with friends and family, I mean it's not like I'll be eating and BATing or anything! I just know that I will have time...to my knowledge monday, thursday, friday, this and next Sunday will be my "busy days."

    Yeah okay. 3.gif

October seems too early! LOL 9.gif

November (especially towards the end) is the best for Thanksgiving because its only a mere 4 weeks until Christmas and New Years. I LOVE the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's pretty suspenseful. 4.gif

And November is just too late. 3.gif We Canadians have the common sense to spread out our turkey consumption evenly. 4.gif3.gif

Compliments of my university dining hall, I had Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. Quality wise, it beat my family's cooking by a considering amount. As for the Thanksgiving weekend, I don't get off till Thanksgiving day itself, so I get a whopping 4 days, of which I'll be spending a considerable amount of time working on a rather complicated argumentation essay that is due when class reconvenes.

Crazy cold environment and it's early harvest season. 21.gif

Well, it's supposed to be about being thankful for all the good things you have, but yes. 2.gif

A lot of people have tried to politically twist Thanksgiving into glorifying all that poor treatment of the natives, but that's not at all what it's about. Keep in mind how nicely the pilgrims and the locals got along on "the first thanksgiving". The trouble was that friendly relationship was short lived once the severe clash of both cultures and interests became readily apparent. Fact of the matter is, the lifestyles were so different that natives and Europeans could never have peacefully coexisted in the same area without some serious changes happening on both sides. And, well, the Europeans had better weapons, so they won. Not to mention that they wanted to take over everything and viewed the natives as simply savage annoyances that got in the way, whereas the natives only wanted to keep the status quo.

But really, that's just typical western attitude. basically everyone who wasn't a WASP got oppressed somehow, somewhere along the way. What's interesting is that now the tables have turned and WASPs are rather unpopular with a lot of people....

    -------------------------------

Anyway, as for thanksgiving, it's back to New Garden, PA. Though, due to the previously used hotel refusing to give rooms to anyone who does not stay the whole long weekend (Wed/Thur/Fri/Sat nights), my family will not be staying in Kennett Square, but over in Christiania, DE instead.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday after Christmas. I just love the meal and the gathering of family, really a great experience. I don't have any real plans other than to sit around and hang out with my family while eating some pumpkin pie and watching football. 2.gif

Excuse me, but I was offended when you said "you" in general.  I'd like you to find one person in this lifetime including myself who was involved in that incident that occured so many decades ago.  Is there a problem?

I can guarantee you that there's not one person on this Earth who'll recall slaughtering any natives, because the pilgrims are all dead.

Oh man, you beat me to it! I always normally make the holiday threads lol j/k.

We're having 17 people at my house!! Its going to be insane! We can't even fit the food on our long long 100x45 in. table. And we need a second table just to fit the people! So its going to be like 10 people at one table and then the "kids" (there's actually only going to be 2 actual kids there, the rest are teenagers) at another table thats a little shorter but about the same width. Its going to be a 5 day Thanksgiving extravaganza! WOOT!!

Gotta do some term papers, and a massive research paper over this weekend and next...arrgh... Of course, finals are coming up soon, so I have a ton of studying to do for that.

Other than that, we'll get the CHRISTMAS decorations put up inside and out, start cooking for this Thursday, maybe chill around a bit, and then stuff myself with various good foods. Perhaps I will even put in some winter/cool season annuals in the garden, since my tropicals were beaten up a bit by the recent cold front...wahhh.

Going shopping on Friday just isn't an option; too many people, and I'd rather do my Xmas shopping online. Besides, most of the "goods" out there are crap this time around.

Ahh, the CHRISTMAS season....long live consumerism, gluttony, and political correctness....NOT

    SC4, Forevermore!

Currently preoccupied with architecture school...lurking with caution.

Lol, yeah, I remember one year our church and friends kept giving us their leftover uncooked turkey and ham...we ended up having like 5 large dinners that year!

Here's my outlined plan, subject to change:

Tommorow: Church, then running around doing random stuff like every Sunday.

Monday: No school, no nothing, just me and GMAX.

Tuesday: Going to a friends house, probably going to walk to a store to get candy (let's hear it for Skittles!)  Probably won't be doing any SC4 related stuff all day, but oh well, it's good to get out!

Wednesday: Nothing I can think of.

Thursday: The big dinner, going to have my step bro down from West Point Millitary Academy.  It'll be fun cooking for like 10 straight hours!

Friday: Hanging out with family/friends, I think.

    Saturday: ???

    Sunday: Same as tommorow.

    Monday: School resumes...ughh...
