In this thread I'll post pictures from cities I put extra effort into. I'm by no means a great city designer, and while the work on this forum makes me feel very small, it also inspires. Feel free to leave comments and ask questions. If you want to know where a certain building came from I'll try my best to find a link.

First up:

Lucifer's Breath

Lucifer's Breath is a fictional island southwest of Britain. It was settled in 1799 by fishermen, and remained unsignificant until coal was discovered. This lead to a small boom of industry, which is now gone, leaving only a shell of the island's past.

The city is split in three parts. The large and decaying industrial area on the top of the mesa, the town Whale's Back, and the harbour.

Coal was once Lucifer's Breath's life force. Now only one, diminutive coal mine remains.

The harbour has a large capacity, but most of those containers are empty. Most of the coal dug up is used to power the island, with only little left for export.

Very nice start, espically for a first try. Looks like you need to tie up a few loose ends with the rail lines though. Great job.

Great city. I like how it isn't "perfect" far too many CJ's are "perfect" and I don't like that, because most cities are far from "perfect".

@suplado: Thanks! Originally supposed to be Whale Island, which wasn't nearly as scary.

@crazyyaya: I kind of ran out of space! Not sure what to do about it.

@bighaben: Funnily enough, I kind of want my next one to be a kind of flawed utopia(oxymoron).

Somehow I think the city might be hurt by the fact that it's called "Lucifer's Breath." It might be a bit of a counter-incentive to move there.

    Living in Lucifer's Breath

The town blossomed, kind of, in it's industrial hayday. The future looked, if not bright, at least luminous. Just before the glory days were over, the mayor commissioned several ambitious urban renewal projects.

The original Main Street remains, even though it is now obsolete after the Avenue project of 1955. Several old buildings were torn down after a collapse, and the dull concrete park now stands in their place.

The old fishermen's church overlooks it's modern counterpart.

The town Whale's Back, or just downtown. The huge tenements built in the late 1960's are mostly empty, waiting for an industrial boom that never came.

Lastly, here's a closeup of the industrial area, known as "Hell on the hill".

Nice work. Great name. I like how the city reflects the name choice (or the other way around).

Wow, The Grunge works perfectly in this Cj , Great Photoshopping .

A suggestion would be sea walls. Perhaps Marrast would work best in this situation.
