**WINTER STORM WARNING**

Early this week, Garland was slammed by a huge snowstorm.  Rarely does Garland see snow, but this week was the exception!  Snow fall ranged from five inches to 10 inches (approx. 12.5cm-25cm)

 

Not many dared to drive in this weather, due to the icy and slick conditions of the road.  Even downtown's tall skyscrapers were blasted with the snow, all through the night.

The Cronos Castle experience 10 inches of snow, and the freezing temperatures caused Cronos Lake's surface to freeze slightly.

Once the storm was over, the sun came out and many enjoyed the new fallen snow.  Unfortunately, the snow only lasted two days before the warm Garland sun melted it.

The Garland Historical Society kicked off their first Christmas Season.  They titled this year's event, "A Cronos Christmas".  The first event was the lighting of the Christmas lights on Cronos Castle.

Mike the Mayor ~ Thanks!  Where I grew up, we usually would have about 4-5 feet of snow( approx 1 1/4 m-1 1/2m).  It was pretty crazy.

Seems as though, the rural communities around Garland City were hit hard by the passing storm as well!  Several crops were completely ruined by this storm.

Whoa, that is quite a storm! I liked the highway covered in the snow. Each time you post a new picture of downtown Garland, I see many brand-new buildings! They look excellent. The Christmas lights on the castle and the transportation map were great as well, keep it up.
