SO, to re-cap. Stuff I'm working on at the moment...

(In order of what will be done first!)

      •  Gateway Tower 6!

      •  AIG Revisited - Corrected shape, re-scaled and re-textured with new nightlights. Don’t worry, not the ones on the previous page! 3.gif

      •  HK Streets Pack - (Back in business) I've already rendered 3 buildings, with two more in the pipeline and the foundations for Stanley Market laid down.

      •  Star Ferry Terminals - I want to do this a little down the track. Haven’t started this yet but I need reference pictures.

      •  HK Custom seawall's - (Just for me.)

And something to keep you on the edge of your seat...

I have a little constructive criticism about the base texture of the lastes tower you posted; it looks to 'busy' and distracting.  What if you reduced the scale, or maybe even reduced the contrast of the texture so its a bit lighter and less defined as 'marble', cause thats what it looks like to me.  Sidewalks of green marble?  Whooda thunk it?!  The rest looks great though; i like that the roof junk has actually been designed in a patten, nice touch.

I do agree with xxbydesign about lightening the sidewalk textures. Another question: Is that a fountain of water at the front door? It looks to be white-capping... lol.

Holy omg, I didn't know you had a bat thread!

First of all Awesome BATs! I gotta update my thread soon.

I would like to know how do you get your night lighting like that?

We, stardust, are the oddest observers of self (a.k.a. the universe).

I'm just a group of atoms typing this.

    What do I know?

Just look back a couple of pages, I posted a few images. And for those of you who are wondering, I can't release them... 1. Because they're CUSTOM! I'd be the only one who would be able to use them because I'm the only one with the city that fits them and 2. The total side of all the rendered .sc4model files would be huge. Probably in excess of 100mb.

Yep, I do. In fact I’ve had this thread up for quite a while. And about the night-lighting, I believe I'm the first to actually try this method in Gmax so I'm kinda just making it up as I go along. First I'm lining up rectangular target spot's perfectly with the glass windows where I want the night windows to appear (this takes some time to get right) and then just adding a projector map of a night-window texture to it. Set the intensity multiplier somewhere between 1.5 (dim) – 3 (bright) and make sure the cast shadows box is checked on.

Hehe, I've been there myself. Really nice inside if I remember rightly.

Yes, indeed it is. I'm pretty there are two or three more very similar to this along the East side of the Kowloon peninsular.

And thanks to everyone else for constructive criticism ect.

EDIT:  If I can get the Gateway Tower to render tonight, then I'll modd it tomorrow and hopefully have it on the STEX within a couple of days.

It's a very well done tower! Your glass faking is an art form of it's own class!

But I would like to point your attention to some modeling issues, not necessarily for this tower (if you think it is done) but may be for you next project. Try to be more logical with the sizes. For instance your roof detailing looks very flat, almost like it would be a picture. Some recesses and elevations appear to be of absolutely arbitrary size. That is a problem as it start to look not to believable. And in striking contrast with superb glass surface of the tower.

Same could be said about satellite dishes, or more cups. They look very odd and apparently with nor connection to anything. Another issue with the roof is hat for some reason nothing seem to cast any shadows. Parapet wall odlly changes it's thickness. From rather massive on the sides of the tower to almost paper thin on the from and back.

For the wall parts... well Glass as I've said is superb and although may not be "physically" accurate is very spot on in impressionist sort of way. I do have a little problem with mullions though... Either there should be more of them, or non at all... These huge expanses of glass look a bit suspicious. although I may be wrong. For instance on Hangzhou Richful center there are just this huge - 5 meters wide, plates of solid glass.

Base does seems a bit squashed in relation to the tower itself. The floors about the entrance are just a half of the height of the office floors above.

Ok with all this nagging, it doesn't change a fact that you've mad a great tower!
