Well, these past few months, I've been having a problem with my traffic lights not showing up.  I've posted several times asking for help at SC4Devotion as well as here, but the only lead I have to follow is that somewhere deep within my 3gb+ of plugins is one itty-bitty file that's preventing them from being shown.  Please...I'm asking you...if there's anyway to get rid of the plugin, to track it down somehow, or if there's another way...my streets look just terrible without lights "what idiot mayor put poles but no lights?!".  Again...I'm asking you...just give me an answer...any answer.  I've asked around, I've done several re-installations...but to no avail.15.gif

You can gets the cleanitol.

It can also be 2 files reacting with each other or If you did the EP1 update you can have a missing original Maxis props file (like me), it can be anything, the cleanitol may not work all the time.

cleanitol is not the answer that is meant only for searching for duplicate files, if there is a list set to search for any items then it would work... the only thing i can honestly suggest is dump your plugins folder and put the folders or items back in 1 at a time to track down the problem file...

Yup you gotta re-install your plug-in folder 1 item at a time and once you find the problem maybe you will be a little more careful on what you do download.2.gif

Is it traffic lights, or street lights?  The only problem I know of is street light with Athens2000 "Olympic Stadium" [?], but I thought it had been fixed.

3 Easy to follow steps Yoshiisland:

1. Uninstall SC4

2. Reinstall SC4

3. Slowly add your plugin files back, in "blocks" (try about 1/4 of your plugins at a time), and try making an intersection. Repeat the step until you find the conflicting plugin file(s)

Although this can take a while before you find the problem, it is a tried and tested method and should help ya out.

-Hal.

Thank you all for your advice! I don't think it'll be neccessary to re-install the whole game, but I'll try haljackey's technique of dividing my plugins into quarters to track down the problem file. If I have to get rid of one file it's not gonna kill my game...

The problem could be with one of anzinodrive's interchanges. If you don't have any of these, then it could be a conflicting NAM file. Other than that, I don't know.

the only way to really find the culprit is to take files out and put them back in in groups, and running the game in between to see if it works! otherwise i'm not sure, sorry.

    Good news to everyone!

I found out that it was the 3rd quarter of my plugins containing the problem file. Now I've narrowed it down to just 11 files.

    I'm getting close!

Okay, so for some reason my plugins were working in quarters, but not as a "whole"  so I think I forgot to delete something in the "bulk" plugins folder.  I solved the problem and all the files I really want are all there.  I just dumped the "bulk" plugins and moved the quarters in there.  So now, thank god, my problem is FINALLY solved.  Now all I ask is that a mod or admin lock this thread and let it be lost in the forums, as it serves no further purpose.

All I know is that Porkie's Props and a few others were causing the problem.  Thanks to everyone who replied!9.gif
