With the launch of Halo 3 rapidly approaching, I would just like to know what everyone else's thoughts or feelings are. It is the most anticipated game in history, and is expected to shatter every media record ever set.

I personally can't wait, and as I post this, I am leaving to get in line. Lets just hope it can live up to all the hype, eh? (Not to mention my planned sick day tomorrow 3.gif )

I had a dream that I was stuck in a Halo-like game and I got tasered in the leg.  While I was lying on the ground my former boss stopped by and told me that I lost so I was required to go back to work.  and I wouldn't get a parking space.

See what happens when ya've been retired for a few years and plan to go back to the old workplace for a former boss's retirement party?  18.gif

As for the actual game itself, I don't plan on getting it.  but you guys enjoy.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Nice to see you still around DT 4.gif

Anyway, I was planning on getting it tomorrow, but I have school, then pick up my sister, then mow.. and I doubt they will have any left at 6PM 3.gif

Then Wednesday I'm hanging out with someone, so I can't get it then either lol.

Oh well, maybe I'll pick it up when I go to get my iPod Touch this weekend, and I'll lose all my money in one swoop. 3.gif

Blah, my mother wont let me get in line tonight. She said something about it being a Monday and crazy lunatic drivers are out.

However, i worked my rear end off this weekend on schoolwork for this one 'sick' day on Tuesday!

I can hardly wait. 9.gif

Food? Trifles.. get your priorities straight here, young man! 3.gif

Totally just gonna try and borrow it from someone. I've never had much interest/never played the first two halo's.. Halo 3 is sort of getting a "meh" reaction from me. 3.gif

I know what you mean. 15.gif  The whole purpose of paying $25,000 a year is to play all those games that your parents find objectionable. 3.gif

Halo 3?  what about Halo 2?  I think a bit behind in the world of gaming... 24.gif

But me personally not being a game type of guy I don't hear much about this and I don't really plan on getting it.  Don't have enough (at this point, any) money.

It's kind of funny how normally the release of a game would normally go in the Gamer talk section, but this game is so anticipated that it's a current event.

Yeah, there are similarities, but Metroid is a franchise that dates back to the mid 1980s... Halo is still fairly new in the video game world.

I personally don't like how people think Metroid is a rip-off of Halo or vice-versa.  Basically, the reaction I get from my friends about Metroid is basically that it's like Halo... not true, in my opinion.  Metroid has always been more about the single-player campaign and the exploration aspect... Halo is more shooter-oriented and focuses on the multiplayer.

Eh, I could take some heat for this, but Bungie has always focused on the importance of campaign gameplay.  In Bungie's opinion, anyone can make a shooter game.  Bungie has said that it believes a game is about telling a story and that the actual gameplay is supposed to support the story.

As an interesting tidbit, the general storyline that Bungie seems to be following dates back to the early 90's or before.

Everyone and THERE grandma knows GTA...anything GTA is the best...long live GTA....my lil bro is a Halo fan however...so i have played the game, but he beats me way to often...

but none the less i have played story mode...and its not better then multi player...

if GTA made a multiplayer online game where all you did was launch missles and machines guns...

GTA...hands down...Halo..eh its fun...

EDIT...I'll be buying the much anticapated DETHALBUM...now that has been a long wait...only like 4 more hours and the record shop opens...

Beebs: Indeed, there is strong evidence to suggest that the Halo series is a continuation of the Marathon series, although i dont think it is official.

If I hadn't bought Armored Core 4 yesterday (only for the multiplayer mech battling as single player is...welll...ew) I'd have bought Halo 3 today...I unfortunately wasn't sure on the release date of Halo 3 so I guess I missed out. I'll get it when the queues have died down.

KT, this is entirely up to you, but if you don't like just picking up in the middle of the story, read Halo: The Fall of Reach before you play the game.  It's the prequel to the first game and explains some things on the history of the SPARTAN program, some of the game's more important figures, the history of the Covenant, and how the whole Human-Covenant War got started.  I personally enjoyed the game without having read the book till later (just picking up storyline details from playing campaign mode), but it's up to you do decide how you want to "experience" the story if you will.

Eh? Does that mean that Halo is related to the old Marathon series?quote>

Well, Bungie does pay tribute to Marathon in Halo 1 especially.  I'm thinking more that they both explore some of the same philosophical questions like life, death, deity, intelligence, sentience, disobedience to deity/sin/corruption (call it whatever you want), damnation, salvation, etc.  Bungie draws inspiration from Oriental religious teachings, the Bible, Greek mythology, ancient French history (famous swords specifically), and other various places.  Call me crazy if you wish, but this is all subtly worked into the storyline.

I'm not really one for fighting games, but I can see why Halo could be addicting, not to mention Halo 3! I'm sure I'll be bored out of my mind watching every one of my friends playing it at their houses. 3.gif
