I need some help reguarding the Nam 2007, it shows 10X commute,10 speeds and better pathfinding

which does all of these do?

I know commute x10 makes more alowable commuters? I do not understand which one does which

Like 10X speed does faster network stuff

can you please explain to me what all of those do?

10x speed i beleive helps commute, not sure though. Better pathfinding involves improving the path of travel your sims use to drive to work.

10x Speed increases the speed of travel on each of the game's networks by a factor of 10.

10x Capacity increases the network capacities by a factor of 10.

The game uses a pathfinding engine to find and create the paths Sims take to and from work. The Pathfinding mods in the NAM enhance the precision of this pathfinding engine, at the cost of computer resources.

Basically, when you install the NAM, the game highers its need for things such as RAM, video cards, etc.

10x Commute, if I'm not mistaken, multiplies the distance that Sims find acceptable to travel. For example, Sims usually won't walk farther than 6 or so tiles on foot. With 10x Commute in effect, they'll walk about 60 tiles.

I'm pretty sure that's what it does, although someone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. It's all explained in the NAM Read-Me, I'd take a good look at that.

NAM parameters are a personal as everything else in SC4.  I use only Perfect Pathfinding and no multipliers.  It fits my style of game, at the moment.  I find that I can control the traffic levels in other ways.

One way to do this is to avoid crossing roads.  Offset Tee intersections do wonders.

is any of you having trouble with nam 2007 causing RCI issues. Like residential to be low along with Commercial and it doeds not get better when you meet demands?

It all started when I used ROad top mass transit subway.bus mod too; I had to remove the road mod because thats when I first noticed it but after removing it I am still having issues with RCI even after starting a new city.........

I'm a bit confused on this as well - the difference between the 10x speed & 10x commute.

I've used the Better Pathfinding option for years. Recently I've been experimenting with a more open type city layout (pollution fighting & land value options) and I ran into an odd problem. I had a R$$ highrise pop up, and the No Job Zot just wouldn't go away. I had jobs, but apparently they were a bit too far away (new city design).

To solve this without rebuilding my city I thought I could use the 10x commute to get them to look farther. I installed the plugin, started up SC and zoned the location where the R$$ would pop and waited. I looked at the other R buildings and sure enough, commutes had gone to short. When the R$$ popped up it was initially labeled short but quickly went to long and then abandonment.

This morning I tried the 10x commute & 10x speed and the same thing happened. This time though a CO$$$ popped up a couple months later (1300+ jobs). The CO$$$ filled up to about 1100 - 1200 employed, but none of them were the R$$ that was still at NJZ. The distance between the CO$$$ and R$$ was about 25 tiles, or 2-3 blocks. I let this run for a long time, but now a R$ highrise next to the R$$ highrise started flipping the NJZ.

My demand is for R is still quite high, I is neutral, C$$ is high and C$$$ is neutral. Pop is 93k+ and traffic isn't an issue.

I really thought the 10x commute would allow the R's to look a bit farther out for jobs, but it doesn't seem to be.

I've gone through the notes that come with NAM, but I'm still not sure what the difference is between the speed and commute mods. It would seem they do the pretty much the same thing.

Am I missing something here, or does the 10x commute not do what I'm thinking it does?

You can go to the mods and dowloads section above on your screen and the first thing that should show up is the NAM 2007. Hope this helps your city building!   1.gif
