    I've made a little graphic so this rezoning thing is a little easier to visualize.

    Zoning Question.JPG

    As for the airport, you can tell by the graphic that it is SITE 1 that was selected! Woo!

    I'm still deciding over the rezoning...I was kinda leaning towards actually doing it, but I'm not sure now...

    ===========

    deathtoall, katie2007--Thank you for participating in my little surveys!

    mentarman--Don't worry, you won't get outvoted on everything!18.gif Actually, I was kinda leaning in your direction which prompted the survey.

    kingofsimcity--I've tried to do the save target as, but it either comes up as a corrupt file or something that cannot be saved (like the file was removed). Do you know of a working place I could download it? Thank you for your comments, I really like your cjs too!

    Comments welcomed, wanted, and apppreciated.

    Very nice CJ gincheal. Esprcially the malls and mountainous areas. Speaking of malls where can I get these malls in the following pictures because they are fantastic: Spur%20End.JPG

    And a couple of malls in this picture as well: namely the one at the top left and the big brownish one at the bottom right.
    Burbs1.JPG

    Thanks again and keep up the great work. If I could get a city to look half this good I'd be happy19.gif
    I'm looking forward to more from you gincheal
    Take care

    The Simtropolis City Journal Union

    This Union is similar to the United Nations, so expect some storylines and roleplaying later on in this journal...

    ============

    Traffic_Jam--Thanks!

    Deathtoall--Well, it's still out to vote, too.

    sorchin--Thank you. The first one isn't a mall, but a convention center. Shmailis Convention Center The other stuff is all SimGoober's excellent real-life and suburban stores. SimGoober's Stuff

    jacqulina--Vote noted. Always great hearing from you!

    The Start of Harding's New International Airport

    Airport_start.JPG

    Construction on the new airport has started on the large tract of vacant land known as Forked Rivers northwest of the city core.

    Airport_Villageplan.JPG

    Part of this airports plan is to build a commercial Airport Village at the entrance to the airport to boost commericalism in the area.

    Airport_tunnel.JPG

    Construction has also begun on the main avenue and its tunnel under the three runways.

    More construction is on the way!

    sorchin--No problem!

    kingofsimcity--Thanks!

    I'm here... I never forgot this City Journal2.gif.. Your work is very amazing. I like how you are starting this Airport. It does look very interesting for a start. I can't wait to see how you get this village across the street from the Airport. That's why I like your City Journal. Because of your details you put in to it.

    BTW: Where can I download this Airport pack? I would like to download it my self.

    I've heard it's better than Jorge?

    Great work man...

    Harding International Airport or Forked River Field

    The Ending of Harding's New International Airport

    I've just about finished Harding International Airport, except for some aesthetics and fixing of borders. It is located to the northeast of the downtown core. It takes up almost one full medium sized map.

    Airport_overview.JPG

    The entire airport has really two main service areas, Airport Village and Hill's End.

    Airport_terminal1.JPG

    Airport Village is by far the larger and busier area, with most major airlines at its terminals.

    Airport_villagefinal.JPG

    In addition there is a open air, indoor, and underground shopping area that has at least two hotels.

    Airport_terminal2.JPG

    Hill's End is the much less busier area. Located in the back of the airport, it services mostly small airlines and shuttles.

    Airport_hanger.JPG

    The large hanger area near Airport Village.

    Airport_cargo.JPG

    The Cargo terminal, near Hill's End.

    Airport_tunnel done.JPG

    Remember that tunnel I was working on before? Here is the completed product, with the control tower.

    Airport_region.JPG

    Finally, the airport in region view.

    ===========

    Mexicanboy--Thank you very much for the compliments. Actually, it is the joerg pack I am using. I couldn't find it either. Good job with San Fran, by the way!

    Wow!, That's one nice airport. I like your ideas on the road lay-out. It's very hard to get a good lay-out on airport's because of how realistic you would want it. lol If you get my drift. 2.gif Great work I like it.9.gif I do recommend you add a couple of fountains and such, just to give it the great greenly park lush..

    Great work!

    Hey Ginchael, I did the save target as for the airport pack and it went fine for me...it even zipped properly. If you need it, PM and I'll send it to you. the airport pack 2.1 is amazing...way more realistic with diagonals etc. 44.gif

    Hello again ginchael:

    Very impressive mountains and hills. They look soooo realistic. When I create hills and mountains in my region I use yours as reference points9.gif
    Have you ever considered writing a tutorial on realistic hill and mountain creation?
    One other thing: Do you have a greyscale and config of your region?
    Keep up the excellent work my friend44.gif

    Hey all.

    I'm going away for a family reunion in Georgia where I will be the oldest one (fun fun) and will not be back until Aug 1.  So, that means no updates for a while.  I was hoping to get at least a region overview for you to show some expansion around Mount Pleasant, but it'll have to wait till I get back.

    ==============

    Mexicanboy--Thanks!  You could say the airport is in beta stage, still working on many aesthetics.  You'll probably see a lot more parks the next time you see it.

    kingofsimcity--I'll definitely take you up on that offer...It's just not working for me...but when I get back.

    sorchin--Sorry to disapoint you, but I did not engineer this map (although I am terraforming a great amount).15.gif  It is available on the STEX, called Water Forks.  I am no master, trust me.

    jacqulina--Thanks!

    Hello all, back from Jekyll Island with an update to downtown!

    FIRE!

    A fire broke out at the old MacNeil Stadium, blocking traffic in an already congested downtown.

    Southside_FIRE.JPG

    Luckily, this stadium has been only minimally used since the Harding Rockers soccer team moved to Chapman Yards.

    File Photo:
    Chapman Hill1.jpg

    So, the damaged stadium was demolished to make room for Southside, a new neighborhood in Downtown. First, the remains of the stadium and its parking structures were demolished, as well as some other fire damaged buildings.

    I really like the use of that ground highway as a six-lane surface arterial. I would be concerned about the intersections where it drops a lane, but it's good enough really. 10.gif The finished product looks great, especially with the row homes contrasting to the taller buildings just next door.

    HARDING MOUNTAINSIDE

    It's about time we headed back to the western suburbs, Harding Mountainside. There have been some major commericial and residental developments closer to downtown.

    Mountainside_HRTZ.JPG

    The Harding River Trade Zone is a large commericial estate along the Harding River. Originally an empty tract, this area was developed as a business mecca, with some forrested parkland along the river that some residents had been asking for.

    Mountainside_West Farmstead.JPG

    This area is an extension of the Farmstead area near Pennington.

    Mountainside_CC.JPG

    Recently, Donald Trump bought some ranchland high in Silvermine Canyon and has turned it into the Trump Silvermine Country Club. He's hoping that the PGA does a championship there one day.

    Mountainside_lack of growth.JPG

    Silvermine Canyon, a town of approximately 200, is experiencing a lot of high wealth growth. With its easy proximity of 70, 270, and Valley Avenue, it's only a few minutes away from downtown Harding but with amazing mountain living. Mr. Trump is having some trouble finding people to buy his large lots on the hillside.

    ==================
    Traffic_Jam--Thank you!

    Oeren--I prefer to think of the loss of a lane as a turn lane11.gif. To be honest, the traffic is yet to be truely horrible in Downtown.

    sirgeoj2--Thanks!

    deathtoall--Too many vacations and trips...46.gif How am I supposed to play SC with such a busy summer?

    jacqulina--Thank you, and thanks for stopping by!

    Thank you for all the comments! Unfortunately, no update this evening...the area I was hoping to show you didn't quite develop to my satisfaction yet.22.gif

    ================

    palmgurl--It may not look it, but I spent a really long time trying to flatten it out while still trying to keep the mountainous gorge relatively intact. Hence why it is only a 9 hole course.17.gif

    GLENNI--Thanks a lot!

    Cjah--I used Joerg's latest pack, availble on the STEX, NOT the update 2.1, which is hidden somewhere in the forums...I had trouble downloading. And, of course, a new, isolated medium sized map far from the city core helps.

    Thanks Allybaba!

    In other news...I'm going away...AGAIN26.gif and wasn't able to play SC4 on account of my brothers hogging the computer.

    So, here's a quick region re-overview.

    aack8ao.th.jpg alt=Free Image Hosting at

    Aaack! EMPTY TILE! Maybe a corrupted file?!

    I hope not...but I don't have time to check in the game itself.
