The ANT plugin is part of the NAM installation. You must, however, select it when installing. Open the box that says 'select for Plugins'. It will be one of the choices. It is 'unchecked' by default, so if you don't select it when installing NAM it won't be installed. Good luck.

Oh yes, you will need to re-install the NAM to get it.

make sure when u installed the NAM u looked into the "+" boxes, and checked the ANT plugin to be installed with the NAM. if u don't have the ANT network as a transportation type, u need to un-install the nam, then re-install it. making sure to look at everything before proceeding through the setup. u can pick which mod u want for commute time and capacity of streets/roads as well. i have the feeling u missed this, along with the turning lanes arrows as well. these are asll part of the NAM setup process, and u can pick and choose which u want installed

ANT stands for Alternate Network Tool. It was something Maxis never finished, but left in the game in a locked state. The NAM team first unlocked it, and things have been created using the tool. For example, the Rural Highway system uses the ANT as a base network.

By default, the ANT looks and acts like a road, except for the fact that NOTHING will develop if adjacent to it.

Just for future reference in installing any type of custom content or mod please please please read the read me before installation, especially if you are brand new to the game. If the problem persists then you can post a question in the proper help threads. I hope this helps some of you guys get your questions asked. Thanks

The ANT by itself is not very useful except as a ground level expressway.  However, if you add the NAM Essentials and the Rural Highway mod (RHW) you will discover that the ANT becomes something very useful indeed.

nam essentials is avalible on sc4devotion.com here: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=850

the basic explanation is here:

"Following the modular approach of the current NAM release, the RUL and INI files have been separated from the main NAM download in order to make updates easier. Creators can release their own NAM creations as separate plugin, if possible, and submit their changes to the NAM's RUL and INI files to the NAM Team. Whenever you download a new NAM plugin, such as additional bridges, the Rural Highway Mod (RHW) or similar items, you'll have to update your NAM Essentials installation as well"

Greetings,

1. Does it yet necessary to have the ANT plugin, on the NAM directory, to make flatten slopes as instructed on the readme files of the BRF Tunnel And Slope Mod? If it does Where can I find it?

2. Is there any other newer/up-to-date plugin that replaces the BRF Tunnel And Slope Mod?

Hi @GCalegaro

The 'ANT' is a reference to an older NAM plugin (hence the age of this topic) that was eventually developed into other things (RHW). Therefore, no, it is not needed as a separate plugin. Slope modification, for the most part, will function fine using the available networks in NAM since it actually contains a slope parameter file that is installed if selected (it is by default). Other slope mods will usually function as well if loaded after NAM (at least in my experience).

Here is an article by @rsc204 on slope mod usage (Link) that contains links to others. Here are a few more from SC4Devotion (Link).

This information and these files pre-date current versions of NAM, so there may be some differences in what is experienced now.

To add to this, the only networks affected are the Rail network, and, if you installed the Maxis Highway Override (MHO) option for the Maxis Highways, the Ground (Maxis) Highway network.
