Residential / Commercial / Industrial

In building a city, how much do you/should you use for each? 

Example: 50% Residential, 15% Commercial, 35% Industrial

I personally usueally use the above example but started this topic to see what other people use, and if it comes up with better results.

I develop the city ussaully 50% res 10% com 40% industry then develop the city till comercial takes up 40%

I never go for a certain percentage, I just Zone what ever the sims are asking for on the demand bars. But from memory your percentages seem to be aboute what I end up with.

Well theoretically the game wants you to make it balanced, I+C=R So if you have a city with a population of 300,000 then you should have a commercial population of around 150,000 & also around 150,000 population for the industrial as well. However that is often times harder said than done.

What I do is try to stay as close to that rule I just said above & also going by what my RCI bars tell me.

My larger cities usually consist of 50% residential and 50% commercial (mainly CO), but maybe 10-20% industrial mixed in. Medium cities are usually the same, although they may be 100% industrial in some areas of my region. I like to reserve small city tiles for suburban subdivisions of about 60% R and 40% C.
