Hey everyone, I need help. Okay, I use imageshack to get my cities photos into my first cj and other things in the forums. The only problem is that how do I convert the last address of the imageshack page into Microsoft Paint and then into my cj? Anything that can help me is appreciated

Thanks,

-bbfan02-

I don't understand why you want the address in MS Paint. Are you talking about converting the file format to bmp? jpg is a better format for ST forums. Some internet explorers don't show png formats on ST.

Do it before you upload the picture.  You can also change it to site maximum of 800 x 600.  You might find this easier to do in a more powerful editor.  The GIMP is free.

I think you can do this in paint as well, but I don't think it is as easy.

I find it easiest to upload to Photobucket, rather than resize in any external program, as PB automatically resizes all uploads to their max size of 800x600.

So, I upload it to photobucket, then I select the 800x600 right? and then I copy and paste the last address into the mountain picture when you hit reply?

Use the GIMP.  It is easy to do a Save As file type in it.  It is free of charge.

Isn't there an easier and quicker way of getting them in your cj?

Hmm...all right, to make it easier to digest the info in this thread, here's a step-by-step how-to:

1.) Take your picture in SC4

2.) Find your picture in the My Documents/Sim City 4/Albums/[name of city] folder

3.) Open your picture in Microsoft Paint

3a.) Resize to 800 x 600 pixels (this step can be skipped if you want)

4.) When you save it, save it as .jpg

    5.) Go to Photobucket.com

5a.) If you didn't resize your picture in Paint, you can click on "options" right above where you can browse for pictures and choose "15" Screen (800x600)" (this step can be skipped, as well)

6.) Upload your picture to your account

7.) Under the picture you want on the forum, click the address in the bar labeled "URL Link" (which should be the second bar).  It should automatically be copied.

8.) On Simtropolis, click Reply, and click the mountain icon to upload your picture.  Paste your copied URL link where it asks for it.

8a.) If you didn't resize your picture in the first two opportunities, you can do it here.  Where it says "Width" type 800, and where it says "Height" type 600.  Your picture will be resized.

9.) Click OK.  You should be good now.

Hope I've helped make things a bit clearer.  If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

    P. S. If you don't have Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, I would take N_O_Body's advice and download The GIMP anyways, especially if you're planning on starting a CJ.  As he said, it's totally free, and while it isn't quite as versatile as those other programs, it's still quite powerful.  I use it, and I love it!
