How to use GLR-in-Avenue?

I would like to use the GLR-in-Avenue for a city, and I have heard that people are working on statons especially for it. In the meantime, how exactly DO I implement the GLR-in-Avenue so that my Sims can use both the GLR part and the Avenue part?

It's not that hard to use the GLR-in-Avenue puzzle pieces, but it requires some time and patience. I suggest the following procedure: Place a regular avenue and then lay out the zones as desired. Keep in mind that the GLR-in-Avenue stations will block access to the adjacent residential lots, so make those larger as the station, or with an offset. Once the zones are layed out, bulldoze the avenue again, plop the stations, and then fill up the rest with the GLR-in-Avenue puzzle pieces. I recommend the trick with the regular avenue because the puzzle pieces don't allow the zones to be oriented towards the puzzle pieces, but they would face to the other side. This is a technical limitation of those puzzle pieces, so you have to use said trick first.

gshmails' GLR-in-Avenue station has been modded properly by me and should be updated soon. The good thing with my modified station is that it's not transit enabled for avenues, but for oneway roads, this means that the game is far less prone to crashes than with the old GLR puzzle pieces. There are several connector pieces (located at the end of the TAB loop) that can be used to connect the GLR-in-Avenue with regular GLR tracks. Go ahead and experiment with those to get a hang of them.

    You say it blocks Residential road access. Does it also block Commercial buildings? I normally use a 6X6 block for zoning, so it is easy enough for me to lay the zones so that the fronts of the buildings are facing the other road.

    can someone create GLR avenue stations so that U-Drive it cars can actually pass through it? I always like to test out my GLR systems by using UDI.

    One more question: do I have to do anything after plopping the stations to make them usable? I know that for regular GLR stations I have to drag rail through them.

    bout using UDI through avenue stations: I got the light rail trains to be able to pass through, but i can't seem to get UDI cars (cars, buses, taxis, ect.) to pass through.

    or you could use 2 one way roads with glr in the middle then no plots have no road access

    ive been trying to get the glr in avenue station to work but im having trouble. once i plop the station down im unable to drag the 1 way roads through the lot.  the lot is 2x2 and i can drag the 1 way road within the 2 tiles on the lot but not actually through the whole lot. does anyone have any ideas on what i may be doing wrong? thx.

    I think you asked the same at SC4Devotion already, but just for the record - the process you described is correct - you have to drag the oneway-roads "inside" the station, and not through it, including the adjacent tiles. This is a speciality of stations that are intended to be used with puzzle pieces.

    When do the trains show up? Or do you need a sort of train-depot?

    I have a little city with GLR-in-Ave and 4 times gshmail's station (basically a circle with stations north, south, west and east), but I don't see any trains, although the station says it's being used (not too much, 30 people per station).

    When do the trains show up? Is there a minimum amount of communters needed or something?

    I just installed the NAM and I'm trying to get Shmail's GLR/ave station to work. So far, no luck. I have a straight avenue with six stops on it. I've dragged the one-way roads 'inside' the stations every which way in every station, but nothing works. Is it possible I'm missing a patch? Is it possible I am dragging the one-way roads in the wrong manner? Does it matter which way I drag the one-way roads?

    First, is this not the greatest website ever?!?!?! Second, wow, you guys take this seriously - and do fantastic work! The creativity in this art is sensational!44.gif

    I've been reading (and shopping) for a couple of weeks now and have managed to get the NAM and a bunch of mods to work on my Mac (I'm not much of a techie - but have all of the Mac versions).

    I do have the amended GLR-in-avenue station, but no trams - bus (yes bus) traffic only. (in the transportation query mode.) I've I have a loop in my city:

    Tram to GLR in Ave and back - plenty of tram traffic (yellow) that I can see, but it all ends at the first GLR in Ave stn. One ways/El lines only show in red, so I'm unable to drag through, per previous instructions.

    No buses are visible, as I have no bus stops, but the transportation query indicates that all but the initial GLR in Ave stn have bus commuters only, in a broken stn to stn pattern.

    All car traffic also disappears at the initial border of the 2x2 Stn.42.gif

    Any ideas?!?!?!?! I'm a Sim-a-holic and have tried everything!!!!!! 47.gif

    So I'm still a bit confused in relation to gshmails' glr avenue station. In the most recent update, can the stops now allow passengers to get on glr, as well as get off? Also, do you have to re-plop every station once you've downloaded the updated version? Finally, if the answer to the first question is "no, passengers cannot get onto glr through the station", is there another station that allows this?

    Just as an added note (no one mentioned it) .. the GLR TRAFFIC and the AVENUE TRAFFIC will ADD, thereby giving a "congested" condition much earlier than expected.. and a busy GLR will effectively block usage by the auto/bus etc and vice versa if either has high traffic..
