Bizzare Abandonment

I've been playing a city, and recently I have noticed a problem. Random residential lots, mostly custom 2x2's, will sudenly say they have no road access. This is obvoiusly not true,  because there are unobstructed roads in front of them! I am positive this is not the MAXIS glitch, because the zots don't go away, and then the house becomes abandoned. I have tried rebuilding the roads and rezoning the area, but the zones all have permenent no car zots and nothing will develop. Any new residintial development almost instantly loses road connection and is abandoned. What is the problem?

Have you tried building the road completely around the house? I had a similar problem when the road was only on two sides of the house, and it said it had no road access. If you can't fix it, try a new area, otherwise you will be going around in circles while the rest of your city is fine.

It seems that you might be using ploppable residential buildings. If you are using ploppable residential buildings, they will not work with the game, regardless of any method that you attempt to use to get them to work.

I believe that the no car zots can also be caused by your sims being unable to get to their places of work. Probably something has been left unconnected to your road network. Power plant, possibly? Also, remember that cars can't turn around on avenues unless there's an intersection or roundabout.

It's everywhere in my city. It doesn't matter where I zone. I'm not going to have streets on all 4 sides of a building either. I am not using plopabble buildings, and every building has road access.

Is it possible you have two separate, unconnected road networks in your city? Did you recently cut off a neighbour connection from your network?

Have you checked the reason for the abandonment?  Most likely you are experiencing commute times that are too long.  The 'No Road Connection' zot is also used if the sim can't find a path to a job.  This is different than the sim not being able to find a job because enough jobs are available.  They just can't get to the job because it takes too long.
