It's nice to know I still have some support, thanks guys. 3.gif

    Replyintrobanner1.jpg

Godzillaman: Always next time...better quality at the beginning tends to lure people better...obviously i've messed that up a few times. 3.gif OH and fixed the image.

Twenty20: Thank you! And I thank you for helping out. I admire anyone who has the courage to post a comment, regardless of good or bad.

nihonkaranws: Thanks! It makes me sick just looking at it. 3.gif

un1: Thanks! Actually this region didn't take long at all, hence the lower quality compared to my new region...I'm taking a more selles-like approach and planning everything with detail. Plus my terrain mods and nightlights work now.

Well I've been awake for 30 hours on airplanes...so let's post a daytime pic, OK? One of comfort and quiet...not a nightshot of an airport (which is next update lol!) Bad memories...cramped 8 hour flights...could be worse but augggh...

    Panorama time!

Dumbarton Bay: From above (clicky linky click for full)

    Enjoy!

EDIT: Page 11! WOOT! Thanks everyone for helping me get closer to a record!

I like the variation in that skyline, I also liked the region view and that ghetto-style neighborhood. 4.gif

The name is like the region. 3.gif How are you going to build on it?? It is so bumpy but still nice work on the region and the downtown panorama.

Thanks guys, replies a bit later. Here's another teaser-full pictures later! 9.gif As you can see, more work around the bay southeast.

region map is very nice.. good mix of highs and lows, will be interesting to see you populate it. If I could I would buy a villa in the bay while it's still free. Skyline looked good to! Good luck with your cj 4.gif

Wow! Quite a load of interest here! Thanks guys, in return I have some surprises for you...but first replies!

    Replyintrobanner1.jpg

panthersimcity4: Thanks! I decided to mix it up a bit to keep it more realistic rather than choosing a theme. Yeah, I like the ghetto too. 3.gif

Benedict: Thanks! I guess I scored on a name...it fits! Lol,

un1: Yeah, lol, it matches well. Oh and don't worry, I'll find a way...muahahaha! Thanks!

penguin007: Thanks! I have to keep myself busy...and you guys satisfied. These new regions are going to be completed with every detail...I hope. 3.gif

sobol: Thanks, glad to hear they';re awesome! 9.gif

    NMUSpidey: Thanks! It will be a challenge...but I'll find a way. 3.gif

anarchy0029: Thank you! It was actually hard to work around all the hills, but not as hard as Greenstone is so far!

    Twenty20: Thanks! I know, it fits rather well...lol. 3.gif

Simtastico: Thanks! It will be very difficult...I can tell because it's hard now and I'm building along the valley! Lol. And yes, how about this...and true to the journal's catchphrase, you've paid for the villa already with your comment! Thanks again.

    villa_melzi_main.jpg

So weird...background looks very close to the actual map! lol.

jacky: Thank you! Because of the rough terrain, it appears much of the region will be forest and parks...I have to learn how to use ploppable water! Lol 9.gif

NMUSpidey: Thanks! Haha, lol, sure, let's go with awesomeness. And here it is...

New teasers of the Greenstone family of regions! Just to make everything easy squeezy and fine and dandy, Greenstone has some siblings...

    First, YELLOWROCK!

This region will be based on the area east of the Cascade Mountain Range in central Washington, near the Columbia River and spanning all the way into Idaho. Of course, this is not a real Washington map, I'm just familiar with the area and the terrain is similarly textured. I present to you, Yellowrock!

    yellowrock1ka7.jpg

I need some feedback on the mod...its the grassland texture in iliketofish's texture pack.

    Next, BLUEMOUNT!

So named for its high peaks shrouded in clouds, creating a massive blue shadow over the heights of the region, complementing the delta perfectly. This is a map of Katalla, Alaska, for those interested, and was the setting for Mayortim's Klondike Delta. I've always wanted to use this region...finally! Haha.

    bluemount1il2.jpg

    Next, I present REDCLIFF!

This area will be based on the Las Vegas, Nevada area (I saw it from a plane and was smitten with the landscape) So, my first ever desert region! Yellowrock is desert too, but not like this. This is actually a map of a part of Madagascar, but I forget where. In a happy coincidence, the water on the bottom portion rendered into a dry lakebed. 9.gif

    redcliff1nr2.jpg

And, finally, here is the latest progress of GREENSTONE!

    greenstone4ae4.jpg

As you can see, I have forested more of the region and begun the central city, aptly named (surprise) Greenstone City! Woo me, one point for creativity. 3.gif The empty tile to the north is Greenwood, and the tile directly south is Kenwood. I'm just making fun of the yuppie names in my suburb...lol, Windsong Farm? Come on, I think we get the point...

Anyway, next update included latest Greenstone progress and pictures of Kalimnos Plain, the little town at the veeeeery bottom of the region shot (with the farms by the bay) It's the most beautiful town I've made so far...I think. 3.gif With these regions that will change many times! I had to make Greenstone City twice, the first city hit about 500k in about a 50 tile radius...scrap that and I created a new one with an all-grown CBD and total pop. of around 200k.

I've done some work on my plugins folder cleaning it out and it is shrinking fast, so I can duplicate it 4 times for each region. It's down about 1 gig since I started...no thanks to Datpacker which messed up my terrain mods. Oh well, thanks anyway wouanagaine, you're a fantastic modder and I love your other programs...

My thoughts of each region? Yellowrock: 90% farming, 10% a small CBD of around 80,000. Bluemount: a busy ocean city much like Dubai, but wetter. Greenstone: self-explanatory and Redcliff just like Las Vegas.

    ENJOY!

    Hey guys,

just letting you know that this isn't dead and new mosaics are coming, I've just been working on Greenstone a lot lately and summer's almost over...so...things will slow down a bit.

Pagenotfound: Thanks, I hope they turn out well!

    OK! Time for an update!

Greenstone is now done! Take a look at these maps.

    Greenstone Finished overview:greenstonefinishedyh0.jpg

    NEW: Vertical maps!

    greenstoneverticalmt3.jpg

Greenstone is not the US but is very involved in the upcoming elections-if Greenstone were a state it would give a very big boost to the candidates at 600,000 sims! Since the region is mostly middle class workers, Obama has a huge lead in the polls. McCain has a good sized stronghold in the northern suburbs of Whitegate Mesa and Kenwood...but not in their urban areas. This map is of voting districts, in which almost all have Obama in first in populated areas.

    greenstonepollsit8.jpg

And counties: there are 7 organized counties and the water territory which is used for fishing and boating etc.

    greenstonecountiesxx9.jpg

Enjoy! Tons of new mosaics coming soon!

un1: It probably won't change too much, just more farming in the valleys. I've already started Redcliff-the two regions can begin to interact!

penguin: uhh...lol...what makes you say that? I tried to make them both fairly...erm...even. You'll see, Redcliff will be loads different. Lol thanks, I wanted to do it differently this time so I did a bird's eye view! Thanks again.

Anyway, I've begun Redclif (Las Valles) which is so far a lot like Las Vegas ( I didn't realize how many casinos I had...at least 50!) And spans about 3 city tiles. I can tell already it's a lot like the real thing...except for the red adobe houses. 15.gif Oh well, it's still cool, I can't wait to show you guys the Strip!

Jacky: Thanks, that's what Yellowrock will be all about (as well as Bluemount) is ploppable water and scenery. I wanted a small town feel this time around.

OK, well, Redcliff kind of failed, didn't turn out at all like I wanted so I've scrapped it. Yellowrock is kind of a side project now, and Bluemount is at the forefront. It's coming along great, most of it is hand-drawn roads (no more auto-zoning!) and mayor mode trees, suburbs (my favorite part!) and a beautiful Art Deco CBD with some modern sprinkled in. So, today...I think I'll show a mosaic!

So far there are 4 cities in Bluemount, in fact here's my planning map:

    planbluemounthl3.jpg

Nothing can keep me away from this region, a city crashed 2 days ago and I don't even care now ( I lost a bunch but I'm too excited to do it again than to care.) Kind of weird, eh? Yeah, don't tell me, I know I'm not normal.

    Auburn at Sunrise

The resort city of Auburn, about 6 AM. The city is known for its long beaches and lively reefs as well as the large hotels that line the waterfront. Towards the east are large subdivisions that mark the beginning of the region's suburbs. As always, enjoy!

    astopzr1.jpg

    asbottomer1.jpg

    ENJOY!

    Hey guys!

I don't know why, but I always have trouble with cjs. I've never really gotten a major interest in my journals-maybe because I started with total crap and people remembered? I don't know. My first was actually my most successful post wise, but this one is most successful content and time wise. I always wondered why the brand new cj with no custom content or modding or whatever had a whole load of comments in the first hour...but again, maybe it's just me. So maybe I should turn this cj into a showcase-stop the mosaics and panoramas and post a story. What do you think? Do you like the mosaics and panos or do you want normal pictures instead? Plus, this way I'd gauge success on page views, not posts. Anyway, I'll give this journal another shot before I quit the format I have now with mosaics and panos. This is what I'd post if things changed:

Downtown Olympia, Bluemount: Population 488,386. Olympia serves as a major naval port and cargo processing center. This picture was taken on Columbia Island, a major banking district. In the center is Thompson Triangle, Olympia's version of Times Square (without all the bright lights.) Just down from the Triangle is Fort Kittitas, the site of the Chewelah Rebbellion of the Chewelah Indians against the white settlers. Eventually, a compromise was made stating that all Chewelah could stay in the area and keep their religion and culture as long as they kept in line with the legal system. Today, Chewelah Indians account for about 20% of Olympia's population.

    olympiadowntownyt2.jpg

Southern Auburn, Bluemount: Population 111,428. Auburn is a major tourist destination just north of Olympia. Known for its beachside hotels, Auburn is a beautiful vacation spot known throughout the region and beyond. In the center is Bientanc Park, named after Jerome Bientanc, former mayor of Auburn and current president of the region of Calioshire. Just to the east of the park is where the suburbs begin, giving a small town feel to most of the region to the north and east.

    auburnsunsetwb4.jpg

That's it for this update. Next update will be a final mosaic of all of Auburn at noon and the update after that will be a final panorama of Downtown Olympia. Stay tuned!

    Oh, and yeah...

    ENJOY!

EDIT: whoops, accidentally made another post. Info incorporated into this one.

Well, I think this is it for CANDYLAND...nobody seems to be interested in it anymore, along with all my previous cjs. Maybe it's me, am I posting crap? I know for a fact that the beginning of CANDYLAND was pure crap...but this new material can't compare. This new contene is distanced so far from the beginning that I'm not sure I can go on with this journal...I know you all liked it but 300 posts in one year? That's a warning sign to me that something needs to change. So, I'm thinking I should create a new cj. What do you think? One that's not specifically mosaics and panoramas. One that has a storyline throughout, newspapers, all that jazz.

So, take a last look before this is archived...and put into my sig.

This journal had a good start and a couple short bursts of interest...maybe a bad time zone? Lol.

So goodbye Candyland, and thank you for serving us well.

So sorry to hear that. Honestly, I really don't see why this city journal isn't getting that much attention.

Starting a new CJ ain't such a bad idea. Just don't rush the new one. You have all the time in the world.

Good luck with the new CJ! I'll definitely be there.
