To start this will be my 3rd project...

AucanCentre.png

I cant really BAT. And The tutorials are either complex or leaving out things. So I just go ahead and do it the simple way. Please bear with me. At least I try...

ah, but you can learn. just go look at some of my first uploads. absolute crap! point is, you arent going to start out a 10 star batter, it will take time for you to improve. Keep reading tutorials and soon you'll be able to make much better buildings quicker than before. For this, you need roof junk, face details (no textured boxes!) , and some sort of entrance. keep trying!

This looks like it has some potential.  To make it better I would reccomend some variaty to the textures, such as add a gradient, such that the bottom is a little darker than the top.  Add some roof stuff, maybe make it look fancy.  And as patriots_1228 said, add a nice base to it 9.gif.

Keep up the good work!

they dont tell you how to make all your buildings. they tell you how to use the tools. for example, the "BAT essentials" does tell you how to make a single floored building, but not a skyscraper. however, using what it teaches you, you can figure out how to make a 2 story building, or a 60 story building. it seems you've given up on trying to learn, and have begun to make excuses for things not being the way they should.

Yeah, go to the omnibus and read all of the BAT related tutorials.

You're textures are looking good, but like the others have said, you need more modeling.

Also, you don't need to upload what you make.  Before you upload something, ask yourself, "would I download this?" and if the answer is no, then don't upload it.  I probably made about 10 BATs before I started uploading the the STEX, but when I did, what I uploaded was worthwhile.

You DO have the ability to make BATs like Ill Tonkso, or anyone else, it's just a matter of learning how, and you have the ability and people to help you learn how.  1.gif

If you have any questions about the tutorials, or anything in general, just ask.  There's almost everything you need to know about making great BATs in the tutorials here, so that's the place to start, but if you have questions, just ask them.  1.gif

As a learner myself, i might agree if you think the tutorials might sometimes makes you even more confused on subjects. But i'm shure if you get stucked on something, there will be plenty of people who will be happy to help you out. But in averall the tutorials are of good help, and give you an idea about how to do things. So please dont give up, cause i would love to see good uploads from you, and this looks to be a good start.

    @ Jason

amen. lol. I mess around in GMAX every now and then. Sometimes ill make buildings for SC4, but the mainly all are completely aweful, which is why you most likely will never see an upload on the STEX from the user Sim Shady 3.gif

    Good luck Shingure!

keep trying man. I really hope you succeed! I remember i tried BAT, gave up, sixth months later, tried again, still couldnt succeed, then finally, made something, and when you make a good BAT, and you see it in peoples cities, and stop and say,"i made that", its a wonderful feeling.....damn i should be a BAT psychiatrist 3.gif lol

keep trying, your first BAT didnt suck at all, it looked nice!

Ok.. The problem is than when I go to extrude structual errors occur. Like outward bulging from a random window.

There you go. Some roof junk and a overhang for the front. Also a base may be in order. I will have to see about that ...

roof junks a good start. one tip though. generally, a buildings walls are higher than its roof. also, i think a spire would look nice on this. the overhang is useless unless there is a door, so add that in. finally, for your problem, i check to make sure that the rectangles are all on the same plane, and that the rectangles arent touching. but you have made some good improvments.

Ok Bad News and Good News.

Bad News: Aucan Centre has been nixed because the amount of time to redo the building is astronomical. So Im going to good news now.

Good News : Ive started a new project. Brick Town House. Im moving my focus to Medium Density housing for urban areas.  Here is a preview.

    untitled-2.png

Ive redone the roof since this pic and the wall has been sealed off completely. It's supposed to be a W2W But im Not sure how it will fit on the lots.

If your going for wall to wall, make one side of the building a multiple of 16meters with about .1 meters less, ie 15.9m or 31.9 wide (the little less is because for some reason LE won't allow buildings that fit berfectly on the lot, so it won't allow a 32m x32m building on a 2x2 lot, you'll need a 3x3 to put it on.

That way it should fit perfectly on the lot.

Also the windows look a bit unnaturely large compared to the door.

Otherwise it looks good, keep up the good work!

^^^ that explains why it took some extra stuff to make the triple deckers W2W lol.

This is a good start, and it shows that you can learn, because here, you have modeled the facade. good work on the brick texture. a few suggestions. make an opening for the door, like you did for the windows. as i said before, the walls should be a bit higher than the roof. finally, if you make an opaque window, be sure to model the inside.

Actually there are a few houses where compared to each other the windows are large to the door. And Im trying for a contemporary look.

For the walls, extrude them more, so that they stick farther out than the windows.  For these types of buildings (and buildings in general), the windows fit into little "sockets" in the walls.

Patriots, "opaque" means that you can't see through it.  Transparent is when you can see through something, and translucent is something that is in the middle.

I recommend to everyone to make their windows opaque.  It's a lot easier to work with, and a lot easier to make look good.

Shingure, then just use the edit button.  14.gif

This is so far the rough draft. Im back from AC. But I feel like the Ace is here in my hand right now. I think I got it. Now the side walls will have to be cut of reconstructed. So that means back to the lab again to fix them. I have extruded the walls more to bring out the windows in the building more.
