Hi everyone, I thought this would be a fun little thing to start. What is everyones favorite show, or 2nd or 3rd favortive. Feel free to Say whatever show you want to, and if you choose, tell us why you like it.

Me:

1. The SImpsons- It's just plain funny, combined with a long run, it is just entertaining

2. MST3K- Old movies + being made fun of, it's a combo of everyone's favorite

3. Red Dwarf- Alone in space, with a evolved cat, hologram, and computer (later a obsessive droid) It is just intresting, a combo of comedy, combined with Sci-Fi stuff.

Three excellent choices, exploding - in fact, two would make my list - and I am already going to break trend and list more than three.

The Simpsons is simply one of the best of all time. It has been going on forever, might not be quite as sharp as it was a few years ago - but still enjoyable. "Stupid bug! You go squish now!"

MST3K is another favorite. It is amazing the simply horrible movies they were able to dig up. BTW, Mike and gang are still at it on the internet, found here. "Deep hurting! Deeeeeep hurting!"

So far ahead of its time it is still ahead of its time is Monte Python's Flying Circus. Many have tried to match it, but none come anywhere near. "No one expects the Spanish Inqui...oh..."

Few television shows in recent years have given us so many catch phrases as Seinfeld - many which remain fresh today, years after its last episode. Spiteful, hateful, neurotic, quirky and simply outrageous characters populated the show, and even fringe supporting characters such as Newman, Putty and the close talker are remembered today. "Serenity now! SERENITY NOW!"

Breaking from comedy, we have a couple of more:

It is absolutely amazing to watch all of the Twilight Zone episodes in almost one sitting. With this, one realizes not only how simply remarkable the show was, but how professionally done and how much work went into each episode - and how many of the episodes are pure classics. "It's a cook book!"

The Prisoner was another show way ahead of its time. Strange, quirky, purposely confusing, psychodelic, musical, colorful, dark - we were always kept on our toes, and were always rooting for Number Six (though we never seemed to quite trust him). "That would be telling..."

And finally, one of the most influential shows of all time - and a show which very well could have paved the way for the SciFi craze beginning in the late '60s: Star Trek. The Next Generation was also a remarkable show in itself. "Space...the final frontier".

There are others which get honorable mentions - from the short lived Richard Prior Show to the long lived MASH; from Canada's Kids In The Hall, the UK's The Office and The U.S.'s The Office; 24, The X-Files, The Honeymooners, My Name Is Earl, Arrested Development, St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, Greg The Bunny, Columbo, Scrubs, Cheers, Friends, Andy Richter Controls The Universe, Red Dwarf, Black Adder...the list goes on.

Oh, and even though it was only a non-fiction miniseries - Cosmos was for me one of the most influential shows I had ever seen.

Wow, that is a hard question for an indecisive person! I like so many shows, that it is hard to pick a favorite. Here is my list, in no particular order:

Red Dwarf (I'm gonna eat you, little fishie...)

Father Ted

The Simpsons

Black Adder

The Young Ones

Bottom

The Brittas Empire

Mr Bean

Any Monty Python show

'Allo 'Allo

The New Statesman

Filthy, Rich and Catflap

I know I am leaving out a few, but those are my faves.

Currently my favorite shows on tv right now are the Law and Order franchise, Smallville, and the 2000's version of BattleStar Galactica

There are a lot older shows that easily fit my favorites list and I can either watch the repeats over and over or I wish they would bring them back:

-M*A*S*H -My all time favorite tv show period.

-FireFly: why oh why did it take Serenity for me to discover the series?? It had a great ensemble w/ the best chemistry (I would hope a new series would resurrect Wash & Book) and it was a true sci-fi/western hybrid.

-Wiseguy: it had the coolest villains!

-The Adventures of Briscoe County Jr.: The coolest B movie actor

-Alfred Hitch***** Presents: love them twist endings!  (love our censor!17.gif)

-The '90's version of The Outer Limits

-The '90's version of The Untouchables: I love the Ness/Capone battles even though it's mostly myth.

-The Wild Wild West: coolest opening sequence!

-Mission Impossible: The original tv con game/sting version, not the movie star Tom Cruise playing James Bond version.

-Star Trek Classic and TNG (right up to "The Best of Both Worlds" before the background music lost its zip)

-Columbo: I always liked how  the working class detective outsmarted murderers that underestimated him.

-The Twilight Zone, including remakes in the 70's and a few years back on UPN put ordinary people in extraordinary situations.

-I could probably name up to at least dozen of comedies fr the'70's.

-I think that Roots is tv's finest hour (or 12 hours!)

-I'm going to miss StarGate SG-1, even w/out Jack O'Neill.

-Even though I don't watch it regularly, I've got a LOT of respect for the impact that The Simpsons has on modern culture.  I think it became good when the focus went fr Bart to Homer.

-I hope Law and Order lasts forever!  (And I hope Jack McCoy becomes the new D.A.!)

Oh, how could I forget FireFly - thank you Joe!

I loved that show from the beginning...but from the beginning, I knew the show was doomed for cancellation. One of the few programs to portray space as silent, rather than full of large explosions.

BTW, I liked what I can remember of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. That is on my DVD queue very soon - Bruce Campbell is one of the greats
