Nightlighting

I have SC4 Rush Hour, downloaded the update, downloaded the nightlighting fix, and *none* of my custom buildings light up.

Make sure all your graphics settings are on high.  Works for me.

So, downloading all the necessary files and installing them in the order you prescribed must then be followed by high graphics settings, is that it?

Only thing not on high is cars/sims, which is on medium. running in 1280x760, 16 bit, hardware render

It should work for you. I have deluxe and it workss fine for me. The only thing i could think of is that you might have gotten the Deluxe update. You need to get the rush hour update which is the less noticeable option due to the site design. Another thing that worked for me when i had the problem is switching between day and night. Go to your god mode tools and switch from day to night then back again. That might fix your problem

Xylo:  I downloaded EP1 updating my version to 638.  When I get a chance, I will see if that is the version I have.

I propose another problem...

...when I download buildings from STEX that include night lighting...why don't they light up at night in the game? They just look like unoccupied (but not abandoned) with no lights...

Then the only thing I know, which isn't much help, is that it sometimes takes time for the game to recognize that it should be lighting up those buildings.

I am assuming, of course, you have either Rush Hour, or the Deluxe versions.

Yes, there is a difference. On the BAT page at simcity.ea.com, there is a hot link on the left side, labeled Simcity 4 update, 14.4 MB, that's the file you need.

You need to be registered at simcity.ea.com to download the updates, please do not ask members to break the rules and post those files.

You should be able to get the NAM from the MODs, and Download forum.

The Simcity 4 site sets the game to default settings when upgrading.  Don't know why.

Hoping that this thread is not completely dead... I'm having the same problem... I have a registered MAXIS Sim City 4 Deluxe with all the proper updates and including the SC4Update4BAT.exe and I only see a minor difference in my buildings.. mostly only older buildings that i've downloaded and almost all of the maxis game buildings all light up.. but i would say at least 80% of building that are custom made do not light up... would could be the problem... I running a 256mb NVIDIA Geforce 6800 agp - 2ghz amd sempron, 1gbt memory, running the game at 1024 X 768 everything on high, with two 4095 mb pagefiles..... any help would be appreciated...

download EP1 again and install it now.. it should work for me... that's how it happened to work for me.

If some of the custom lots light, then it may be that the others don't have nitewindows. The is something that is added in the BAT modeling.

Tungston--- Thats the most obvious reason... and I realize that your are just trying to help... let me give you an example.... I have all of the Coruscant buildings downloaded.. I have seen them lit in many, if not all of them lit, in many different photos... but they sure as hell don't light up in mine... but i haven't tried letting the game run for a while just to see if that works... I usually play for a hour or two and then shut down .... maybe I'll let it run overnight to see if things change...

you need to download them in order... and then reset the p.c. after each step... as explained earlier... then it will work.
