It could be a good game, even if it's not Sim City

While I agree that this is nothing like the classic Sim City style. I think it has the potential to be a good game. The whole social engineering aspect is actually somewhat interesting. I just wish they would have called it SimSociety or something and marketed it for what it is.

I think it's pretty much impossible for them to change direction at this point. They're too far along in development to go back to the drawing board. The best we can hope for is that they realize it's not a true sequel and treat it as such. Let it be a good game in it's own right.

I have no doubt that the game will likely be 'fun' but thus far I think the title has changed too many of the fundamental things that make SimCity "SimCity"...

I will continue to monitor the game's development - perhaps this version will be more fun for my wife, who enjoys Sims more than SimCity.

In all likelihood I'll both CL2 and SC:S -> one saving grace is they are NOT calling it 'SimCity 5'.

There are plenty of good games out there but only one SimCity. When I want to play just a good game I play just a good game, when I want to play SimCity I play SimCity.

Agreed. This is no longer the city simulation game we have grown to love - in fact, as many have stated before - it more resembles The Sims than SimCity.

However, if done right, this could still be quite an enjoyable game.

If Duke Nukem Forever has taught us anything, its never too late to throw it all away and start again... haha. But seriously. Its not that this game will be bad. Its just that it is substituting the only true Urban Simulation game/app out there.

Well that just opens the playing field for someone else to step in and take a shot at making a good urban sim. Maybe with some fresh ideas.

I had a dream last night; it was about mimes. I saw myself surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of mimes. All of them pointing and laughing at me. Mocking me. Pretending to sip tea. With their smug grins and painted faces. WHO ARE THEY TO LAUGH AT ME? Suddenly it started to rain knives from the sky. The mimes got pierced and maimed. Blood was everywhere. One of the mimes caught a knife in the side of his head. He screamed and cried, but all the other mimes were being impaled and couldn't help him. He looked at me and exploded. It seemed the hell I was in was turning into heaven. After it stopped raining, only pieces of the mimes remained. They could no longer torment me. I was free from hell. Or so I thought. I don't remember what happened next, but suddenly that b***h was there. I hate her. Then I was at a park, with more mimes. This time they were juggling and balancing chainsaws. I ran over to one of the mimes and took his chainsaw, saying "Oh, it seems I have your chainsaw. How do you like that, b***h?" The mime shrugged, so I chopped off his legs. Then I woke up.

Mimes are worthless. If they'd get real jobs, we wouldn't be harassed by them everywhere we go. I'm sure there are mimes in hell. Mimes are all things sh**ty. What the h*ll is wrong with people when mimes can still make a living?? Don't they understand that mimes are evil and should be shot? Greedy b*****ds, always stealing my candy and throwing rocks at me. Throw rocks at me will you? I'll burn your house down. HAHAH. I'll laugh and laugh like you did so many times before. And then it will be my turn to not invite you to my birthday party. How do you like that, as***ole? HAHAH.

Mimes are to play a big part in your society , some one at the  producers /developers is snorting to much powder . This game is for pointers and gigglers and not anyone with the slightest ounze of intellegence .......I have edited the poetry as best i can as not to loose the essence of the poem .

I would never be able to take it seriously, and that's something I want to do with a SimCity "city building" game. The first time I plopped one too many "art" buildings in and had the roads change to yellow bricks and the moronic "candy cane lamp poles" that are mentioned in the IGN preview, it would just nauseate me at what has become of SimCity.

After watching the IGN video, I thought about how the game itself may be fun. It certainly becomes a bit more strategy-oriented. I have always thought that adding "venues" or "entertainment zones" would add a bit more realism to the existing game framework.

The social engineering aspect of the game sounds like it could be fun and challenging. However, this isn't SimCity. Come on, a four-lane road that ends in a cul-de-sac? Candy-cane traffic signals? Straight roads all the time? SimSociety would be a much better name for this game. I can only hope that the real SimCity 5 is waiting in the wings. This game may be fun, but it won't replace SC4.

It probably will be a good game, but not a simcity, and not as lasting as SC4 becouse the lack of growable and dynamic societies influenced by market forces etc. And i also question moddability. Graphics and transportation too is are issues.

    We'l see.

Maybe a good game, fun to play...

    But nothing that we wanted.

I mean it could be a fun game. People are looking past that because Tilted Mills says that the game is heading into a "new direction" meaning that its replacing SC4 as the next installment. If it was a whole new series like the Sims, it would say so, and people would be more warming to the game. So despite the fact that it could be a fun game, SC4 fans don't care or won't care. We just want SC to be left alone.
