Hmm some more..

I remember the mad excitement when RH came out, and the flurry in the first thread, constantly refreshing to see the first screenshots.

I remember the mocking of the Maxis site when they stopped updating on Wednesdays.

I remember the first BATs (most notably, Oppie's Casino with the dice on top), and how amazed everyone was.

I remember when I was shot down in the modding section for asking for the "impossible": diagonal streets.

I remember the first Trixie Awards and the excitement leading up to.

I remember the fascination on December 25th, 2003, when someone opened their game to discover that snow appeared in the winter.

Ahh... good times....

Speaking of nostalgic, I just spent a weekend at my folks place, got on my old computer, and the first bookmarked page is still Simtropolis 3.0.  I thought about updating it, but I kinda like the reminder of where I started on this site.  I almost expected to see the seasonal simtropolis banners when I clicked on the link.

i remember not knowing what the stex was

i remember hitting 50,000 and 60,000

i remember getting banned once, and then unbanned

i remember the massive amount of downtimes

i remember the old way the stex was, with rows of 3 bats

i remember how i hated st4

i remember the old subscription system where i got bombarded with email for every reply, around 300 to 500 a day

i remember how i hated when that system got replaced

i remember how i hated st5, and i still dont realy like it

i remember superchad productions and how it kinda failed

i remember how i could open multiple stex files at the same time, not just one at a time

i remember downloading the rh airport pack

i remember this guy with a homer simpson avatar that would reply to topics and tell people to use the search

i remember the 1 week downtime that had everyone woried, i think it was august 05

I remember when there were 140,000 members.

I remember when SimCity.com removed the update archives.

I remember seeing the firefighting airport expansion in RH.

I remember when I thought of Summer 2004: by then Rush Hour would arrive for Mac, and there would be juicy information on another expansion. Turns out neither were correct.

I remember when SimCityCentral ran their April Fool's Prank on "Wild World", the expansion including dirt roads, weather, and Asian & European BATs! Even thought I knew it was fake, I wished it was real.

I remember Simtropolis's 2004 April Fool's Prank, on how they got bought by EA (including a weird URL, something like simtropolis.ea.com) Does anyone remember that?

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

I remember when one of the highlights of my day was checking for new stuff on the STEX.

Then I remember how we used to actually be able to download the things we liked.

I remember being able to browse the site on a dial-up connection and then thinking how fast it was on a DSL...

Later, I recall the site's descent into unusability and its subsequent emergence (a time I think of often as it now seems to be gradually descending again...)

I remember when...

*Some members were proposing to other members, then having a fake cyber wedding...

*The MEX and LEX(only for about 3 months) existed and got formed into the STEX

*Alot of now inactive members were admins, ops or moderators(anyone remember Dudyconstructor being a chat mod?)

*ST would be down, the down page had the "mouse clicking noise button"

*Rybolton Proposed to Samantha(like anyone can forget the ST banner that followed)

*ST hit 50,000 members

*ST hit 100,000 members(twice if I remember correctly)

*ST hit 150,000 members(multiple times)

*ST moved to version 4.0beta and so many people complained about it

*ST moved to version 5 and so many people complained about it(mostly since it took two months after it came up for dirk to get the homepage, STEX and the Chat working)

*ST had the hackings in 2005(I think...maybe it was 06)

*people spread The Signature virus(it wasn't a real virus..just text that everyone put in thier signatures)

*The original ST avatar days

*there were Chatbots

*The valentines day dance(text dancing is defiantly more flexible)

*The first threads of 2005 asking when SC5 would be out

*When the first CJ about only a Airport came out

*The 2004 Trixie Awards were given out

*The 2005 Trixie Awards were given out

*The 2006 Trixie Awards were given out(and everyone wondered how skigeek's neck wasn't in serious pain from all those medals)

*ST had the First Member of the Month and Employee of the Month

*ST got a nationstates region(still is active btw)

*I started using quotes from the chat to make the quotes in my signature

*ST went down for a while and MSN became the ST chat

*the ST banner changed for every season

*there was the Season picture content(may revive that myself)

*the last ST avatar content was held

*when the ST server would reboot at 2am EST and I people would try to see who got in the chat first

And I've only been here since 2004-07-31!

I remember the celebrations and the fancy mouse trails we had when we cracked ten thousand members.

I remember the three word story about the turtles and Uncle Death. To this day I have never seen a three word story with a more coherent plot.

I remember following Sculpting Columbia River from beginning to end.

I remember an odd fellow who drove buses in London, his username isn't coming to me -- only because for some extremely strange reason, I have a three+ year old chat transcript, never published, lying about on my computer.

Dost k! those were days indeed, long gone days, ne'er to return...

I hope this thread isn't exclusive for 03 members since I have some pretty fond memories of my own.

I discovered ST when this building was on the front page.

SG_LargeHighSchool%2001.jpg

That was August 2005. I remember the front page pretty clearly. Goober's Highschool was being showcased, and there was news about a little game called City Life in the news section. But I was a bit intimidated at first and went on a long lurking spree, scanning the forums, looking at CJ's. Speaking of CJ's, the journals that have stayed with me all these couple of years include:

-Ralston (my favorite 'till this day)

-Nealos101's San Portello (hey it's still being updated)

-Mikeaut's Cabel Bay

I remember not being registered (since ST intimidated me a bit) and not having access to the custom content so I tried the best I could to imitate Nealos's cities (with mixed results). I finally got around to registering and well, here I am.

Ahh I remember 2004!! Dusktrooper was like the king of the STEX! And Simgoober too. And I remember those amazing city journals like Mandursuro and Gotland and Paletexan's cities. The homepage never ever will leave my mind, it was black! 9.gif Loved the population sign too!

I remember actually being a moderator for a while... of course Dirk and the other admins weren't exactly in favor of promoting me.  With a little "persuasion" from a few of my friends below, they decided to give me the position. 35.gif

The reason I'm not moderating now?  Let's just say Dirk knows Chuck Norris... 'nuff said.
