This is a small comparison of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

In real world it is MUCH BIGGER!!

This airport is just for fun. It is NOT functional!!

Also tell me what you think about my airport.

This is Schiphol Airport.                                              logo_kleur_4.gif

Why is it just pavement? You need to hook up those apron lots with taxiways, and why are you using runways from the older airport pack?

Needs much longer runways, proper apron markings, greater widths between the piers, etc. Still, you're on the right track.

I don't like such functional airports i just make big non fuctional airports. Sometimes i make small functional airport.

And i know the greater widths between the piers must be greater but i didn't want...

This airport is just for fun.

I also working on a medium sice functional airport, so i hope i'm doing that good.

Why the RMIP runway don't appear in my list?

I agree, RMIP has some of the best stuff for realistic airport taxi's & runways. Concrete fillers just don't work but I love the use of your terminals.

After reading many pictures at SC4D, I have seen runways with large airplanes on them, how do you get them on the runways?

You have to make a lot for it. You just take a runway texture and put a aircraft prop on it.

The work in this thread is absolutely amazing. Keep it up!

Shanti Town International Airport

STAAirportterminals-1.jpg

Unfortunately, I still haven't mastered the corner textures at T-intersections. ;-)

STA has a total of 57 gates in 6 concourses.

I'm thinking about redeveloping the airport and changing the midfield island concourse design for T1 into two piers. Although islands are usually a better design, I'm wondering if only 12 gates per island cannot justify having to run separate buildings along with the underground transit link. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts and comments.

hey, great airports in here!

irdesi: My tip would be to add more taxiways, just imagine a B747 has to leave the runway and crashes in one of your concourses. But nice start so far.

Ko Wan Island Airport

Now it's time to show you my latest airport creation. It's the airport on Ko Won, an island I'll probably add to my CJ, nut it isn't added yet. So you will see exclusive stuff that may be published in my CJ as well.

Short information

Ko Won isn't a hub airport and there is no homecarrier. Most common aeroplane types are B737, B747, A340, MD-11. B737 come from Kaibesia's airports, which are quite close (under 1 hour flight time). The long haul planes come from far destinations, mainly Asian (such as Singapore Airlines, ANA, Thai Airways, etc.)

So the passenger sector is one basis of the airport. The other one is the cargo business, mainly the cheap landing taxes. So Cargo Ailines such as UPS or FedEx stop here to refill their planes.

Pics

Here you can see an overview shot of the airport. The runway is just long enough to handle B 747, but not more! The approach area is in the upper right of the picture. The runway itself ends in the sea with a u-turn before ending.

01overview.jpg

The passenger terminal has 4 jetway gates, all other parking positions are used for cargo, refilling and bus gates:

And the same at night:

The refilling unit of the airport:

Here you can see the cargo terminal. It has 2 gates, the freight for the island is transported by trucks. Beside there is the hangar and a small gate for private jets:

Finally a close-up of the cargo gates. At the moment you can see the Cargolux B747 (arrived from Astana - Luxembourg) and a UPS MD-11 (arrived from Taipeh):

I actually made a City Journal on my Airport (The airport at Queen's Point). If you want to see it, click the link in my signature. The airport will become much bigger though, I'm telling you!

Feliwi, thanks for your recommendation. I'll be keeping two taxiways for each runway along on new projects.

It looks like I still have a few things to learn about airports!!  Some good stuff in here.

Well, heres a small contribution from me!

This is a city airport located close to the centre of an as yet un-named major city.  The city is still under development for CJ purposes which is why there's still no name, but here's the business and charter airport.

This airport was originally built as the main airport to ''the city', but as the population grew demand forced the government to build a new, triple runway international on the outskirts of 'the city' (still under construction but may be posted here soon)

Overview of the short, single runway facility

CityAirport2.jpg

So, what do you reckon?

I know i lack realism in my airports.  I tend to compromise on scale.  I'm aware of the runway measurements, but chose to ignore them for playability!  I could perhaps correct the runway markings however.  I'd love to see some UK runway markings released!

I'm not finished with this yet.  I need to lot some plazas to complement the airport tram that makes the airport functional.  One day i may find out how to edit the properties of the original.  I don't like the palm trees.

Enough for now!

That's a nice airport you have built. I really like your terminal and I think you did a great job for as little space as you have. the only thing I would comment on is that the two hangars are too close to the runway.
