Much like the show us your accomplishment thread, but I wnat to focus on a shot of your custom made airport. Not the Maxis made airports but the ones that you built using the Airport pack. I just thought it would be interesting to see how you laid yours out.

If memory serves correctly, there is a recent airport thread that deals with exactly the same thing floating somwhere here on ST.

Yup,  here it is 19.gif. In future, do try and use the search tool before posting a totally new topic 18.gif.

You asked for it, so, here I post again. I already posted this in a few other threads, but, what the heck...

Here are a few pics of my region's new airport, Berkshire International Airport. It was built to replace the rediculously small, outdated, and congested Montauk International, which will be modernized soon. Berkshire will take the main load for the region, though, and can be expanded to suit further needs(I am reserving two large city tiles for this purpose).

    A regional view:

    berkshireairport0031cs.jpg

A photo showing the relation of the airport to downtown:

    berkshireairport0044sl.jpg

Transit map, showing the many ways to get from downtown and other parts of town to the airport, as well as the Airport Monorail Loop by the Montauk Airport Link TRansit Authority(MALTRA) which is linked to the east side monorail line. The Berkshire Expressway runs through the grounds of the airport, with a few avenues creating a loop around the first half of the entire property. Another loop will connect the future second half to the west with the expressway, creating a figure 8 around the main thoroughfare.

    berkshireairport0052jj.jpg

A shot of the airport itself (whatever would fit into 800x600):

    berkshireairport0027tn.jpg

The main runway trio has direct access to the runway from the tarmac, as well as a single taxiway, while the newer runway trio to the west has two centralized taxiways. The main runway was designed to be quick, and efficient, while the newer runway to the west , with its larger taxiway, would be able to launch planes waiting in line on the taxiway.

More terminals will be built on the new runway soon, when they are needed.

Finally, a closer shot of the main terminal:

    SC4, Forevermore!

Currently preoccupied with architecture school...lurking with caution.

I won't post mine yet (not finished by a long shot) though I will say that the airport for my new region will be FAR more complex. It'll be about 2/3 of a large city tile, I think. 6 terminals, just as many runways. At different orientations, and with different lengths. There's even a wider runway for more modern aircraft.

And to boot: none of the runways ever cross.

As some of you have already seen, this is my region's current airport, built completely in the middle of the bay on totally reclaimed land. This airport (code = SFN) features two 3,800 meter runways, with capacity to handle 230,000 takeoffs and landings per year.

    sfn-view.jpg

However, unfortunately due to region's heavy demand for air traffic, the region's only airport out in the sea has become completely saturated of its capacity (while commercially profitable). This has prompted the officials to both expand this current airport (code: SFN) and in addition construct a completely new one in a rural farmland area. I will post pics of the one under construction after this.

And.. here is the future airport in the Walnut Creek farmlands area (code = WNC). This airport is now under construction, and will have two high-capacity parallel runways (8L-26R and 9L-27R), each with length of 4,000 meters, and a third 3,500 meter runway running in east/west direction is planned shortly.

This is the current birds eye view of the airport in construction. The cargo bay terminal, control tower and parking facilities are nearly completed. The airport will consist of four major terminals, two on each side of the access roads running in the middle. Terminal construction is now started. The near-complete runway you can see to your left is the 8L-26R. The construction for the 9L-27R runway to your right has just begun (earthmoving equipments flattening the land, etc). Land-seizeprocess from farmers for additional runway running north-south direction is currently in progress..

    wnc-view.jpg

And this is a closer up view of the runway 8L-26R. The runway is not operational obviously as the airport is far from being completed, thus X marking signs have been installed to prevent drunken pilots from crash landing 9.gif.

    wnc-runway-8L-26R.jpg

The picture below is the terminal area construction. The BSC JetBlue Terminal will be constructed here ;-) Parking facilities and control tower are nearly completed.

    wnc-termarea-construction.jpg

And the construction of runway 9L-27R (the right side) is now on the way... land preparation in progress.

The red buildings are part of the construction for the JetBlue terminal (they are temporarily there for space holding until the BAT is completed). And then the white tiles you see to your left of the reb buildings are for the terminal apron under construction.

Sure makes my attempts at making an airport look pretty pathetic. I guess I'll bulldoze mine and start over.  Congratulations on a job well done.

Someone asked about how they made custom airports, They were all done using Joergs Airport pack or others all downloadable from the STEX, just search under Airport. You'll find some good stuff.

    Awesome Blahdy!

I recongnize the joreg airport pack but where is that glass terminal from? I really like the way you did your highway and... is that el-rail? anyways, the way there are paralell to each other even in the curve adds a good touch. I also like the small area of water within the airport 44.gif

    Thanks!

The terminal is known as Modern Airport Terminal by arseingtonlexbury. It is included as part of the Airport Set

And yes that is elevated rail. Monorail service is now available but travellers will have to transfer from the Airport Monorail station in the main land to the airport island elevated rail access service.

And I'll post more pics of the WNC airport under construction as the work progresses.

Are you using a large tile for that airport blahdy?

And to the rest of you nice looking airports44.gif

I'm using large tile for both airports yes (the one on reclaimed land, and the one under construction).

As you can guess by the text, this CJ uses a lot of rail.
