GingerBlokey: You need to leave more room between the gate lot and the taxiway. For the 747 I usually leave about for or five squares between the lot and the taxiway.

This is my my biggest airport, O' Brien International:

Any ideas for improvement?

Hi, I Iike your compact approach but I would allow more space on the ramps near the gate. On my airport I have a lot of trouble trying to keep the distances in check all the time- like how did the jumbo get in there? How its going to back-out and turn - these questions will help you.

Runways need to be longer! Average runway nowadays is over 1 mile.

you dont even wanna see the airport im scrapping now because i changed regions, or rather, im going to rebuild it again in the new region, at a different altitude XD

And if you do want a tip on taxiways, they seem a little croweded, think, how are those 747's going to get in to the inner circle without hitting any other aircraft, and usually runways has atleast one taxiway running the entire distance of the runway, but i think your airport is cute and compact ^__^

I like that airport, the runways could be a bit longer but that's pretty much it, I like the small and compact airports over the super massive ones.

shinkansen1: you might wanna add some clearance between the gate and the taxiway there

supla007: As always, looking great!

Imprezza805:  Impressive terminal design you've got there--although the layout is not that common.  I really like that very long runway you've got!2.gif

U3D: I like the way you've been playing around with the diagonal pieces there-great work!

bmag_20: So you use avenues as placeholders--creative idea!!!  Although you should note the grid bug--probably happens when you're using a Mac

quert: Like your mosaic!  I don't have any good names but you should throw in your city for the airport name.

topcliff: Whoa great photoshopping!  Looks like thats some heavy rain you've got there--light rain would appear much more clear in the picture.2.gif

droopie: thats some nice realism you've got there--like how you made plenty of custom lots!  And--"Air Canada was supposed to open high-capacity 777 flights to the airport"--that will be taken care of2.gif--see below.

Gingerblokey: You might want to lengthen and provide better access to the runways there, otherwise looking somewhat good!

CraigKingofIreland: Thats a creative multi-terminal design you have!  Good work!

seahawk: looking nice as always--creative terminal!  It somewhat reminds me of the terminal in Seattle...

And, as for my share of contribution to this thread--not exactly an airport but:

I'm not even sure what a taxiway is.

A taxiway is what an aircraft uses to taxi (drive) around on the airport. Think of them like roads. In RMIP, they're the gray pieces with solid yellow centerline stripes. One should parallel the runway to easily give access to both ends, if at all possible. However, some smaller cities, like Ketchikan's airport, couldn't extend a taxiway all the way to the end of their runway so one must taxi down a portion of the runway and use the turn-around area at the end to get pointed back down the runway for takeoff.

Can someone send me a file of the lotted 767s, at the gates, and on the taxiway.

Much thanks if so.

no, the large airports are eyecandy.  they add realism to the game.  To get the positive effects of an airport you need to plop the "airport tram " lot included in the SWAP.

@shadeslayer...you have to lot the 767s yourself...you can download the props from the LEX at sc4devotion.com...search for kumba. i'm currently in the process of lotting all of them for my airport...by the time i finish, i'll have to expand the airport for the 737s and 777s...American Airlines owns my airport...i've got AA MD-80s and 767s and hopefully they will release AA 737s and 777s...then all i would need to finish off my AA fleet is 757s (and of course an American Eagle skin for the RJs)

Is there a way to create new jetway lots without replacing existing ones?

A little something I've been working on for the past little while. Prince Julian International Airport serves Carinthia's capitol city of Victoria. It serves as a regional hub for several major airlines including United, Air Canada and JAL among others. International carriers including Cathay Pacific, BA, KLM and others fly high-capacity routes into Victoria.

An overview of the Airport complex from the west includes a view of the Cargo facility still under construction near the center. A maintenance facility is planned for the area in the vicinity of the ATCT. The disaster response center will integrate into the maintenance complex, giving quicker access to a potential catastrophe than its current home on the west edge of the terminal.

Domestic and Regional Gates

Short term parking is located within the ring road, while long term surrounds the rail terminal.

Action captured by plane-spotters; Air Canada about to touch down on runway 18L, while United is on full retro on 18R.

Well, here is my airport (so far). It's nothing special though, still working on it as well.

Images are PNG, cause I don't want to open Photoshop and edit a bunch of images, most of you guys should have something other than Internet Explorer anyway.

NewCity-Sep.21091188072826.png

This is the full airport, 2 runways, some planes, ACTC, ect.

NewCity-Sep.21091188072908.png

Here is the ACTC, VORTEC Transmitter, Security Station, and Fire Station.

NewCity-Sep.21091188072968.png

This is the main gate, entrance, and whatnot along with the little road.

NewCity-Sep.21091188072936.png

Some of the parking (airplane parking, of course), and a little apron area.

NewCity-Sep.21091188073227.png

Here is Runway 18 (South), which is the large 747 runway.

NewCity-Sep.21091188073241.png

This is Runway 09 (East) which is shorter and for smaller planes (737's/CRJ's/Saberliner's, ect)

NewCity-Sep.21091188072997.png

Here are the CRJ gates, a couple different airlines are resting here.

One of the Air Canada sections (767s are elsewhere)

NewCity-Sep.21091188073055.png

NewCity-Sep.21091188073066.png

Here are the 747 gates.

NewCity-Sep.21091188073184.png

And lastly, here is an American Airlines flight arriving on Runway 09 (My first lot!)

That's it.. for now. Once I learn to lot a bit more, there will be some 767 gates, and a couple others, also, when the next airport pack comes out, I'll make a major update.

Great pictures everyone. I was wondering where the Boeings came from. Not the 747 but the smaller ones parked on suplado's picture 4.
