  1. Show us your airport!

Short Update. This is Iberia A340-600 EC-IQR "Salvador Dali". I tried to see if the ingame fuselage width would be correct and I think its in the ballpark. The 747 is wider and 767 is narrower as in RL. Now it is a "Plane of Fantasy" i.e. the measurements are exaggerated. The engines are new, I'm not 100% satisfied with them, but I think they're OK for now. Horizontal stabilizers are as I understand them from real photos, but I could be mistaken, they seem to be quite wide but not very "deep". Ta.
  2. RMIP-2 Airport Lots by Voltaire

Voltaire, How do you do UVW mapping to vertical stabilisers? So far I have tried pretty much everything on the menu, planar, cylindrical, boxes... you name it. Also I tried to do mesh select and then separate UVW's on both sides - cant seem to get that to work - when applying the later UVW also the previous one gets affected - maybe I dont know how to do the mesh select correctly. Any thoughts, ideas and help is much appreciated.

xiziz: What you say is very interesting, do you know any references, links or documents? I see that the other fuselage models are still round and not oval that would result in exaggerating just the height. Does anyone have more information on this?

pilotdaryl: I was really honored that you had time to comment my first model ever when I know how busy you are with the 777. I already made the engines smaller - they were really too big, I had only the turbofan radius available when I made them and the engine casing ended up too big. However I went back to check the fuselage and it seems ok - its 75,30 m long with a diameter of 5,64 m. So I guess its correct compared to RL data. It is a really long airplane, it has a length to width ratio of 13,4 so the plane is 13,4 times as long as it is wide (fuselage diameter). The 777-300 is 73,9 m long and has a fuselage diameter of 6,19 m so its ratio is 12x. The 777 is in RL about 550 mm wider than the 346, which is about 10% so it should be visible to the plain eye even from a distance. However, I went back to look at your 777-300 pictures and it appears that the ratio is only about 9,5x on these pictures. So either the fuselage might be too short or the fuselage width is 7,77 m (how appropriate ). As it is painted with the doors and windows of the 777-300 then I'd say it indeed is a very wide-wide-body 777. But it will look amazing in SC. I need to work more on my 346.

Luxor RESERVED Airport Update Its been a busy month (see the last picture) at Esfuntura Luxor Airport. This first picture is of the new domestic terminal south of the main runways. It is not connected to the international terminals and has separate parking. The two main runways are paraller 27L and 27R (09R and 09L) both ends of the runways end at sea. Extensive restructuring was needed to accomodate the approach lights. Because of closer economical ties between Esfuntura Luxor and France - AF has decided to start operations to Luxor RESERVED with high capacity aircraft. The longest commercial jet in the world the A340-600 has just arrived on its first flight to Luxor RESERVED and is carrying the president. (Yes - it is my own model. The brightness is giving me trouble, any help is much appreciated.)

bokrif: Hi! 767 on jetways have not been released by anyone AFAIK. You may have seen some lots made by a few people (myself included) - from 767 plane models released by Kumba. I replicated the lots as Landmarks and used the planes as props. So I don't think the lots are publicly available anywhere.

Great looking planes! One question: was it your intention to release the planes as a part of a jetway lot (as ACE's 747s) or as plane models? (I vote for plane models as they are flexible to place on tarmac, ramps etc.) I don't know if Austrian Airlines operates -300 models, but they have a nice coloring on their planes. So it's my request.
  8. RMIP-2 Airport Lots by Voltaire

Hi, THANK YOU Voltaire for the AMAZING airports you have available to us regular folks. You are a true artist and architect - your dedication to realistic airports is outstanding. I was reading through the threads and I didnt see anything about the elliptical center lines as in the (crude replica) picture below. Did you have these lots planned for a future release? Would that be a full 3x3 piece? Also is there a request thread for RMIP-2 lots? Like I said this level of realism in SC4 airports would not be possible without your contribution. Please keep up the great work. /droopie

Any ideas for improvement? quote> Hi, I Iike your compact approach but I would allow more space on the ramps near the gate. On my airport I have a lot of trouble trying to keep the distances in check all the time- like how did the jumbo get in there? How its going to back-out and turn - these questions will help you.
  10. Show us your airport!

Hello All, My all time 2nd post, be gentle... Here is some information and images of my international airport Luxor RESERVED Airport. Luxor RESERVED Airport serves the Esfuntura and Luxor areas with approx 2 million inhabitants. Recently expansion in population and increasing attraction as a tourist destination has made the airport a necessity. It is built on a partially man made island south of South Luxor and is connected by 2 highways and a railway. There are two highways onto the airport island, this is a picture of the 2nd meant for cargo/industrial traffic. (the cargo props don't display a shadow, oh well). Due to the strange mechanisms of international contract bids - All Nippon Airways was assigned the main role in operating the airport. This made it easy for the Star Alliance to gain a strong foothold on the slots. However this is strange as ANA does not even operate wide-body flights to the airport. Here is a picture of the ANA Control Center, the main Airport Hotel locations and train terminal in front of Terminal 3 (Oneworld Alliance Departures). Air Canada was meant to open several high capacity 777 flights to the airport, but due to high congestion on other routes, it has been forced to use 767 equipment on routes in and out of Luxor RES. Here is a picture of the high capacity gates between terminals 1 and 2. Skyteam soon moved in to establish a strong presence. The KLM-AF merger made it possible for Skyteam to completely take over the high capacity end of Terminal 1 (Star Alliance and Skyteam departures). This last one is supposed to be a mosaic (hope it turns out ok) The 767 models released by Kumba are really flexible and the customized lots on the new darker background turned out real nice. Now I'm looking for some decent narrow body models to be BATable (and the 777's of course) Thats what the weird name of the airport is about... The person who first gives me B737 or Airbus320 models gets to name the airport... Luxor YOURCHOICEHERE Airport. Luxor XXX Honorary Airport - sounds good, right? I would have wanted to put in some larger pictures of the airport, but islands south side is still very much under construction - I will post some pictures of the runways later (looking for wider runways too.) Next: Trying to lot a deeper jetway with the ellipse centerlines, the textures are there, but they are not used in any lots yet. At least AFAIK. Ta ta

For the -300ER, I once again modified Voltaire's 773 slightly so as to create the 777-300ER. The current liveries I have are Air Canada and Jet Airways, both from supla007. Subsequent liveries and pictures to come! quote> Hi, (first post ever...) Awesome work Pilotdaryl and everone, When you say the 777-300 and -300ER are available do you mean you already have the sc4 models for them? I have a few 767 BATs in Luxor RESERVED Airport (I'll try to post pictures to "show us your airport"-thread today) that are aching for 777 props, so any models are highly wanted and appreciated.
