the custom made airports you can create wont be used by the sims in the game? they are only eyecandy?

the airport you build is and will only be used in that square its placed in? I was hoping I could use 4 huge airports close to the first R region spot and the sims would use it to reach everything around each corner..

I was thinking on having a huge airport in each corner of the R (red) boxes..

Nice picture everyone. This is my new terminal made possible by the new modular terminal pieces. It's a small, 2 runway airport for regional use and eventual longer trips. More like an interior hub.

I actually have a small list compiled of the BATs I feel are essential, as well as the other lots that make for nice looking airports.

Essentials:

Ace_bovenopdeberg's ACE Modular Airport Packs:

ACE Modular Airport Base Pack

ACE Modular Airport Addon 1

ACE - VLT Terminals And Jets Series 1 Part 1

ACE - VLT Terminals And Jets Series 1 Part 2

Voltaire's Runway Markings Improvement Packs:

RMIP Small Airport Edition Vol 1

RMIP Small Airport Edition Vol 2

RMIP Small Airport Edition Vol 3

RMIP Small Airport Edition Vol 4

Optional Lots:

I use Joerg's RH Airport Pack for several of its lots, chiefly the fuel farm, though that can also be made by any of the tank lots out there.

Because the grass lots in the RMIP get rather expensive quickly, I prefer using the grass lots from Xiziz's SWAP as they aren't nearly as draining on your funds.

The Boy Formerly Known as Evil Muzz also has a nice large hanger here.

For parking lots, I like the ones by Ardecila that are found here.

For parking garages, I have three I like, one of which is in Joerg's Airport Pack as I recall. The other two are SimGoober's Urban Parking Garage and DuskTrooper's NDEX Parking Garage.

Lastly, the best looking airport emergency center out there, in my opinion, is the SNM Airport Crash Centre.

Anyway. That's my list of lots that I use in my nearly all my airports.

SpokaneFLyBoy, thanks for the detailed reply, only one more question, is that list functional? I've heard that some lots are only eye candy and others are functional and that I would need a functional terminal but everything else could be eye candy.

The ACE and RMIP lots are all eye candy at the moment, but that may change in the future. The RH Airport Pack has a few functional lots, but I prefer the ACE terminals over the RHAP ones. For other cities, it has what's called the Airport Tram which is essentially a Park-N-Fly. For sheer looks, I'd stick with the ACE and RMIP for your terminals, taxiways, runways, and ramps.

I'm leaving in the morning for a week and a half long vacation so I unfortunately won't be around to answer questions until then, unless I find internet access along the way. However, I'm sure others here will be more than able to answer your questions.

I used to have the airport tram lot and it worked fine. After a while I heard I needed to download an update file to have some terminals to be functional. This was a long time ago and now I don't know what I must use to have a working terminal on my cities.

Also I would like to know if it's possible for some batter or a lot maker to design a small working tram. Something like 2X2 or so (nothing bigger than 4X4) for a downtown. Nothing wrong with the old tram but it usually doesn't fit my cities at all.

Have a nice trip dude.

Hello everybody!

After getting Ace's last Airport edition, I decided to  redo my airport.

It's called Cartagena Int'l Airport and is part of city of Cartagena.

Well, unfortunately I haven't finished the whole airport yet. There's still a lot of grass and fences to plop, as well as some taxy-ways and markings.

Here are some pics of the airport, but first I'll show you the main carriers of that airport:

1) Air Cartagena (ACA)

2) Aerovista Air Charter (a subsidiary of ACA)

3) Axon (a subsidiary of ACA and specialized in executive flights)

Here are now some pics of the airport, as far as I was  able to finish yet.

Supla007, that is a fantastic airport! Very well organized and laid out. Bravo!

2 questions for you, though; where did you find the green and white hangars in your maintenance area, and how did you get the 747's on the taxiway? I couldn't find them in the Airport pack without the jetways attached.

xiziz: looking forward to it!!!  And as for everyone else, you all got some great airports there!!!  I myself liked supla007's airport and planes so much that I now have him texturing my 777!3.gif  Anyways, the 747s on taxiways are probably photoshopping work--Nice!  The green and white hangars are found in the MCI Airport Pack found on the STEX.  I won't be working on any airports soon--but I'll see what I can do.  I'll probably update one of my old airports--maybe bring back Manchester for just one update3.gif anyways great job all I wanna see more airports.  Good luck--

Well, here's the first part of what I'm trying to do with Genesis International. I can't figure out which corridor/jetway to go with. I want it to have jet gates on both sides, Which makes the left and right ones suitable, but at the same time, I want them to look like they can hold a lot of people, and the left one naturally holds that one.

genesisinternationaljf6.jpg

I'm looking for capacity and functionality rather than style with this airport, but I can't find the right pieces to connect two jet gates to the same taxiway or whatever it's called. Here's what I'm looking for in Genesis International:

1. capacity

2. space efficiency

3. massive transportation hub

4. at least 4 runways

5. massive terminal building

This is going to be harder than I thought. Most of the terminal building pieces are very confusing, and I can't tell the difference between what's what for different pavement textures. One thing I want to know is how to get the jet gates connected to the taxiway and then get that connected to the runway while figuring out how to get the terminal building constructed. 46.gif

As pilotdaryl said, I got the hangars from STEX. The green one came as a single pack and the other one was part of the MCI Airport Pack.

To build this airport, I used the layouts of JFK, NRT and AMS as an orientation. JFK got an nice terminal layout and AMS has an interesting KLM Maintenance Area and, of course, a great Shiphol Shopping plaza. I thought about creating a terminal complex like they have in NRT (Terminal 1 South Wing), but it's a kind of tricky to plop the Aircrafts in a diagonal position.

A nice eyecandy would be the A/C washing facility they have in Narita. Everytime I taxy right next to it to T2, it's interesting to see when they wash a B744 there. Well, mostly Qantas cleans its B767's there.

The B744's on the taxyways are actually photoshopped. It gives a more vital atmosphere to the pics.

I'm looking forward to see some nice ACA B772 or B773 on the tarmac 2.gif

maybe the ACA Atlantic Luxury Liner.....

.........or what about an B737-800?

*Picks up Jaw from Floor*

Imprezza, that is one impressive Airport! Keep up the good work!

@shinkansen01

Looking great so far, I'd just recommend making the taxiways between the concourses wider. Otherwise pushback could get hairy.

@suppla07

Airport AND Aircraft looking great! I'd give a lot for Lufthansa to have such a good-looking livery. Keep up the good work.

The best name I can come up with at this time is Marideth International, although you sould name it after your region.

Hello All,

My all time 2nd post, be gentle...

Here is some information and images of my international airport Luxor RESERVED Airport.

Luxor RESERVED Airport serves the Esfuntura and Luxor areas with approx 2 million inhabitants.

Recently expansion in population and increasing attraction as a tourist destination has made the airport a necessity. It is built on a partially man made island south of South Luxor and is connected by 2 highways and a railway.

There are two highways onto the airport island, this is a picture of the 2nd meant for cargo/industrial traffic.

(the cargo props don't display a shadow, oh well).

NORTHCARGO.jpg

Due to the strange mechanisms of international contract bids - All Nippon Airways was assigned the main role in operating the airport. This made it easy for the Star Alliance to gain a strong foothold on the slots. However this is strange as ANA does not even operate wide-body flights to the airport.

Here is a picture of the ANA Control Center, the main Airport Hotel locations and train terminal in front of Terminal 3 (Oneworld Alliance Departures).

ZENNIKCC.jpg

Air Canada was meant to open several high capacity 777 flights to the airport, but due to high congestion on other routes, it has been forced to use 767 equipment on routes in and out of Luxor RES. Here is a picture of the high capacity gates between terminals 1 and 2.

AC.jpg

Skyteam soon moved in to establish a strong presence. The KLM-AF merger made it possible for Skyteam to completely take over the high capacity end of Terminal 1 (Star Alliance and Skyteam departures). This last one is supposed to be a mosaic (hope it turns out ok)

top.jpgmiddle.jpgbottom.jpg

The 767 models released by Kumba are really flexible and the customized lots on the new darker background turned out real nice.

Now I'm looking for some decent narrow body models to be BATable (and the 777's of course)

Thats what the weird name of the airport is about... The person who first gives me B737 or Airbus320 models gets to name the airport...

Luxor YOURCHOICEHERE Airport.

Luxor XXX Honorary Airport - sounds good, right?

I would have wanted to put in some larger pictures of the airport, but islands south side is still very much under construction - I will post some pictures of the runways later (looking for wider runways too.)

Next: Trying to lot a deeper jetway with the ellipse centerlines, the textures are there, but they are not used in any lots yet. At least AFAIK.

Ta ta

kohvakka; As for the B737 & A320, both series are in modeling by the Aerospace Consortium, both are at a rather advanced stage of modeling too. Otherwise, i have to say its a nice airport.
