I'f I'm not mistaken, It's the high speed train project. It replace the Monerail. For normal raised train tracks, you must download the NAM

I'm builidng a city with only cars and train. I hope i can show some rush hour soon.

Yeah, I meant the normal rail-road, which can be raised into a lifted.

Actually I just found that mod - thanks anyhow.

Its actually a bullet train skin for monorail. I downloaded it from a Japanese website, can't remember the name though. If you scan through the Massively Gigantic Japanese gallery thread in the BAT forum you will find a link there.

I think what I did wrong is when I installed the new NAM, I used a radical 24h automotive mod, that gave me radical effects of having way too much traffic. On top of that, it made my game run painfully slow, so I had to remove the mod.

How the hell did you manage to get that much traffic on your roads haljackey ?

My current city of 200,000+ people doesn't look anything like that ! Let me know will ya ? Id like to see traffic jams in some areas to make it more realistic (not as bad as yours tho 3.gif)

Thanks. KD.

Krukedogg:

1. You can use the radical automoa mod in the NAM (which I mistakenly used in my last pictures), but that will really slow down your game.

2. Get your population up! My cities in the pictures have well over 1,500,000. The more people/jobs, the more commuting traffic.

3. Another alternative is to use carpool incentive radical mod (found in the mods and downloads section).

4. Finally, if you want to cheat a little, you can download the traffic generator from the STEX to create traffic for you.

do you think that a beltloop around the city will reduce traffic problems in center city?

also do you think it would be a good idea to create a turnpike?

Ok I tried the Beltline idea and it works pretty well its just kinda weird around the edges. I also created a turnpike for my region, alot of people drive it. I will get some pictures of it and put them up in a bit.

Master of Nukes, I think the moving trucks happen after a housing district is complete and people are moving in. My cities the moving trucks are bumper to bumper for about 7 squares BUT they are only in one lane (on avenues)

Some of the traffic jams are simply INCREDIBLY HUGE!!!!

The best word to describe is just OMFG.

You have very big cities, with very big traffic!

Fortunately, here, in hungary, the traffic is smaller, but the roads are chaotic like on some of the pictures.

my avenues are so backed up. I need avenues with more than 4 lanes. That is why I proposed the idea of a 6 lane avenue. I later found out that there is already a project working on this

Ahhh!!! My avenues are sooo backed up. I have to get a picture of it for you guys. The avenue is backed up 17.5 squares, BOTH LANES. There is no accident. I made a bypass for the traffic in the only place I could. There wasn't enought room for a highway so I had to create another avenue. The only thing now is that the bypass doesn't go into Upper Fredrick. Upper Fredrick is the town in between the City (Athens) and the suburban towns of Upper Dublin and Prince of Prussia. Here is a little diagram:

This is just a bad drawing of the basic concept

yeah we know, haljackey told us on the first page

EDIT: Personally I don't like traffic generators because the cars overlap in some places and traffic is bad during U-drive it although I do kind of like the reality in that cause the traffic is always smaller in U-drive it 15.gif I perfure to create bad traffic the old fashion way.

Ok here is a picture of one of my old cities. It was a much needed interchage between the belt-line Route 220 and and Route 76. There is a tollbooth there because it is traveled alot in the mornings and evenings (rushhour) it is night here though. Know that I think of it I should have gotten a picture of it in the day time. Oh well, I will get one later. Ok here it is, its not great I plan to put better up later.

I see why that was needed. No space for a Ground to elevated stack so you did that. But this show us your RUSH HOUR, there is a thread to place pics of interchanges.

yeah, not everyone here is showing rush hour though, so it is more of show your road systems type thing, I see where you are coming from though, I find it a bit annoying seeing something that is not suppose to be there but I am trying to keep things as general as possible 4.gif
