1: SHIFT increases the area of effect, CTRL reduces the area of effect. Also, there are God Mode tools to raise and lower an entire, but you will have to find them since I only use measured tools.

2: Go to the City Journals thread, or look around. They are all over the place.

There are key strokes that control the size, and intensity of the terrain tools, they work in mayor, and god mode. Size = shift[number 1 to 9]. Intensity, or power = shift [F1 to F10]. God mode cheat =Alt Ctrl Shift, and click the god mode icon.

For night lights you need the SC4update4BAT.exe from simcity.ea.com. It's on the BAT tools page.

Original Maxis files cannot be send by e-mail, so please stop asking for them. It is illegal here.

The file you are asking for can be easily found on Simcity.ea.com, if you own a legal copy and are registered to the site.

A protected zone is one that contains a landmark, a reward, or some other structure the game considers permanent.  You will have to bulldoze the protected zone.

And now a word from your moderator:

Go back to the post containing your e-mail address and remove the address.  This is a public forum, and you have put yourself at risk of spam, and other predatory actions.  Never release anything personal on a public site.

Do not ask for copyright material.  EA considers all patches and updates to be proprietary as well as all the game files.

    (e-mail removed in above post)

And the protected zone, I think this must be some kind of bug. I tried to bulldoze, rise the ground and then build but it is still protected. I mean: There is nothing on the zone but protected 15.gif

Do what tungston said and if it still doesn't work, build a road all around the protected zone (sometimes you can even build right on top of that zone) and then bulldoze the whole thing all at the same time with the bulldozertool in one shot. That should do it.

    Japanese ACI Aquarium.....what is it?

There are several crash threads for you to look at.  If you want us to try to diagnose your problem we need much more information that you have given us so far:

    1. Machine configuration including
      1. CPU
      2. RAM
      3. Virtual memory settings
      4. Graphics card and driver version
      5. Sound card
    2. Version of the game you are running.  Get this by finding the exe and getting the data off the version tab in the properties window.
    3. The first 20 lines of the latest crash text file in your Exception Reports folder
With this data we can probably make a pretty good guess at your problem, but it will only be a guess.

Bascally, your machine looks sound.  However, the most up-to-date version is 1.1.640.1, so you need to apply Update 1 and the Bat night lighting update from the Simcity.com site.  You must be product registered there to get these fixes, and since they are copyright material, you can only get them there.

Moving up to 4GB virtual may help, but you still need to update.

Your dump shows a memory access error or an unresolved page fault.  The diagnostics on these dumps leave a lot to be desired.  You may have had a paging error from disk that was masked by the rotten programming.

    I downloaded SC4Update4BAT(14mb) from simcity.com and Update 1.

Update 1s filename was UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638. But I could not find any 1.1.640.1. Not even on google

Here is something to consider. It is what I do and it always worked out fine. Since it doesn't seem to be a computer problem, try this:

Temporarily remove the plugin folder from MyDocuments/Simcity4 and try the game out. If it works fine then your problem is in the plugin folder and the only way to find out why and who, is by going through it piece by piece until you found the troublemaking file that causes your computer to crash. It might be a bad file or a file that interferes with another. I know it is long, but it is the only way. Best thing to do is to take out the files that you added in the time where the game worked properly and crashed afterwards. Take these files out and then try them one by one to get them back into the game. Try the game each time for at least a month (you can go on fast)

If you can't remember which files you added last, then I recommend that you cut the existing pluginfolder into two halves and try them out one by one. The one that has the defected file you can divise again into halves and so on, until you pinpointed the one who is causing all your problems. Always leave the ones that play right in the pluginfolder uunder a subfolder that you can temporarily name Workingfiles.

Once you found the problem and you fixed it, I now recommend that you create a subfolder in the pluginfolder named Testing. Unzip all your newly downloaded files into there and then try them out ingame first. If they all work fine, then relocate these files into your regular plugins. If you find one that is causing problems or one you don't like, then it will be a lot easier to get rid of them and finding them in the much smaller Testing folder.

Hope that'll help you solve this ennoying problem.
