Looks good. About the seven fingers: have you been eating lunch near any nuclear facility, reactor, or uranium core? Leonardo

These last updates look great, El Burro. Maladets. Mne ochen nravitsa.

Glad to see you working on some "crappy" low-wealth lots. I try to build post-communist cities as well and they will definitely get used in my game. I particularly like the mounted tank. You're absolutely right - every city has a big sign like that and a lot have mounted tanks either there or somewhere in the city. Would be great to have a more generic version if you feel up to it (not every city can be Khabarovsk, after all... ;-). Maybe a big concrete panel with some indecipherable writing on it - "imagine your own city name here" ...

EDIT:  By the way, I just realized (maybe you know Russian and are aware of this already), the mix of cyrillic and latin letters you've used doesn't exactly spell "Khabarovsk". If you wanted to write it in Russian it would be "?????????"... What you've got there now would be pronounced, "Kndbdyaovsk" 2.gif17.gif

EDIT2: Oops... Looks like ST doesn't read cyrillic...

Pnorrell - Its a great idea, and i'm glad you mentioned that because... i've already do it, lol.

I made a sign for Glenni after the initial Khabarovsk one, and then a Generic sign that simply says -

    umumum2.jpg

    greetings2.jpg

    greetings.jpg

Should be coming your way soon 3.gif

And don't worry about the spelling of 'Khabarovsk' on the sign... I know about it.... i was too lazy to try and decipher the Cryllic... even though its pretty simple-

17.gif9.gif Great! You know what they say about great minds, comrade commissar...

Not to be too picky (I will definitely use your "privetsvia" sign - in fact, it could just be a random collection of Cyrillic letters for all I care) but you wouldn't see that word used in that way 18.gif.

The correct phrase is "dobro pozhalovat" - welcome. Like this:

    untitledkk5.jpg

Like I said - doesn't really matter. Russian speakers would get a giggle out of it but otherwise who cares...

    17.gif

    I knew that would happen!!

You know, the first word I tried in Russian was 'Welcome', but it was far too big! Thats why I tried 'Greetings' instead

I do like to please the native Russian speakers here in a bold attempt to seem less ignorant... although, that said... screwing it up all the time makes me seem more ignorant, lol. 45.gif

Fantastic photoshopping! Is the smoke photoshopped? (Yes I'll use photoshop as a verb.) The cities seem very dark and sad, just as they should! Great pictures.

Looks good! Everything's so... well... commie. 3.gif

Do you use Photoshop? If so, you might want to check the resize settings on your pictures. They shouldn't be suffering from a bad case of the jaggies - use Bilinear or Trilinear scaling to resize your image. (go to Preferences, and set it).

I absolutely love this, not only is it very good work but such a creative idea, as well. I've been wanting to do something like this in one of my cities, and this is an amazing example. The photos of things like the rainstorm look great as well, it's quite realistic.

Some fantastic work here! I encountered your brother (Wig Wam) at facepunch studios (He plays gmod?) in a Simcity 4 discussion thread. It's a small internet really isn't it?

Oi, i'm getting ideas... nothing else 3.gif

    cod2sp_s_2007-08-14_00-45-15-54.jpg

Prolly do something like that next...

    Some Quick Replies-

Jacqulina- Thank you... took a few days to finish but it go there

Schulmanator- /me waits for the cat in Schulmanators avatar to fall in sink...

    ...

    ... nothing...

    ...

    /me is still waiting

Bokrif- I know, I've asked 2ch to make me one if possible but I know theres some people who would prefer a Statueless version.

I personally would love a Statued version 5.gif

Toxicpiano- I know! He just told me over Xfire when I was busy dying on CoD2... it definitely is a small internet. His usual alias is Smeghead, he uses that for mostly everything... I dunno why he's called WigWam on Facepunch, lol... Smeghead was probably taken.

He plays CS:S mostly, and World of Warcraft... Gmod is only on an odd occasion.

Oh yes, Stalker is definitely an inspiration (for me and Glenni its seems)... I spend quite alot of time studying pictures of Pripyat, possibly the only real, untouched Soviet town left on the planet... apart from maybe, the many 'Secret Cities' Russia has... but your not allowed to photograph those.

I don't think Minsk has changed much since the collapse of communism. It's a real shock, after seeing the decay of post-communism throughout most of the former Soviet Union, to see a place that must look like Soviet cities did in their prime - well lit, smooth streets, buildings in good repair, nicely-tended parks...
