Everyone has their favourite CJ but this is not about that its about which one has been the most daring. I now a few I'll name but what ones do you think have approached the CJ world in a different sort of way

Which of all the CJ's you've ever seen been the most daring?

My Selection

Capilano Valley - The first to use a newspaper idea to a large extent giving properly formed information (Beebs)

Soeul - The oddest start to a CJ ever but is still very very good. (Homeandaway)

Nice plug for your own CJ

Capilano Valley first to use a newspaper ? no offense to Beebs but newspapers have been going on since the dawn of CJ's

its not the first. Though I do find it a thoroughly good CJ.

for me the most daring was probably Terracina (any old timers remember this?)

it had amazing photoshop graphics which most people hadn't seen anything of the sort of the time. It had eye level views which I dont recall ever seeing and even today I havent seen one quite as good as Terracina's.

Olympia by SAC was another one that blew away everyone, it completely transformed what we knew of SC4 with SAC's skillful use of custom lots. In fact it still holds up pretty well today.

I don't mean the first ever. but the first to use it in a formal sort of way that the older ones didn't - I don't know what makes them so different but I found this old thread somewhere on the forums about it and everyone on there says that it was the first formal so I stick with them. Plus Capilano valley is a good CJ.

You joined 2007 so you most probably don't know Digby - the CJ that influenced me more than anything else.

I will never forget his Canadian-Brazilian war and the newspapers Llewellan made because of this ...

He won a Trixie for this story !

Oh yes, those were the days my friend ...

I've based some things in Capilano Valley from what I saw in Terracina and other old, ancient CJ's. *sigh*... such wonderful times, those. 15.gif

I also remember a Chicago recreation CJ, back in the day, which essentially followed Chicago's growth from the mid 1800's on. Did the great chicago fire and all that too. Was a really good CJ, and probably one of the first historical CJ's.

Most daring IMO would probably have to be the City of Edmonton. Most realistic recreation... ever. Probably the first real recreation. Not to mention the entire thing was hand terraformed so accurately. Big risk, big reward.. too bad TJD doesn't update anymore. 15.gif

Edit- I only have very faint memories of Digby.. 15.gif

i don't want to be rude, but it seems like you just made this thread to advertise your own city journal. you've made another thread in city building concepts just about your journal aswell. to be honest, your journal only has 4 region pictures and it looks like you used all maxis buildings, the terraforming looks nothing like japan and seems like it was rushed.

    I'm forced to agree too:

"Of course my CJ - The Biggest CJ Simtropolis has ever seen (Cleaner475)"

Say that when you aredeserving of the term, not before hand 2.gif

Also, how do we measure "daring" how do we define it?

I think the most daring CJ should be one with all aspects of all types of cities, from hick towns to Megalopolises, from a few houses and shops to big industries, and nice terrain to go with it, but this is just my opinion! I'd like to here yours.

It's not a advertising thing its just the fact that what i'm doing is daring. Its a project that hasn't been tried before which means it can go on the list. Paradise Falls is a great one to have on the list to.

I think it is about time this thread was removed from City Journals, surely there are other forums where this would be more appropriate. There are plenty of us who have enough trouble getting our CJ's viewed, and to get bumped down the list or off the first page by this is ridiculous.

Time to put my dummy back in, but I thought something should be said.

    Cheers all

    Dave

I defended you at first and told people not to pick on you, but seriously this is getting silly and I have to agree with ilikehotdogsalot. Until you actually show us some work, I suggest you stop proclaiming that your CJ is the most daring and incredible project ever. Because it's not a project. Until you actually show some results, it's just an idea.

So yeah, it might be the most daring idea ever, but showing us 4 region pics does not even bring it close to being the most daring cj. I could make a more daring cj by taking a pic of one of the regions that came with the game.

Sorry, I just had to get that out.

Metal hip would be more useful!

But, most daring CJ is that which does something new and also offends other people's "world".

I agree with Krio 'world' is a very deserving CJ of the title. Mulefisk: It's a project but wait till the next proper update and then juge for yourself whther mine even needs to be mentioned.

there're SO MANY good CJs you've forgotten to mention, most of them cuz you're too new to the ST to actually know them... like slopped, digby or jeronij...

they where definitely daring CJs, in many ways, and influenced the community more than any of the ones you've listed.

and, to be honest, there's nothing daring happened with your CJ yet, except lots of "advertisment" and the promise to be the biggest CJ ever...

Fine - I'll remove My CJ from the list! Happy? Plus this is my new account I did sign up before using another one but lost the password but I did see some of those old classics you keep talking about.

Some ST'ers are too "recent" to have had their CJ tastes mature. I've lurked since 2005 and I remember Mikeaut's Cabel Bay, Nealos's San Portello, Meinhosen and Ralston, Eureka...Sculpting Columbia River...AK's Brastoval. Those were daring CJ's. I regret to say it, but despite a few CJ's (WORLD), quality seems to be decreasing in the forums.

Especially me. But I can't help it. It's daring at least, I hope. But...nothing's come from the biggest cj ever...

WORLD is a pretty daring CJ, I don't know if he will try to recreate all the world's major cities, but the name implies it, which is certainly daring.

New Rhosedia was pretty daring, it was one of the first Sci-Fi journals that was pulled off to a high-quality.

Rodina was (I think) ST's first communist CJ and is still going strong. It set the bar for budding dictators all over ST! 3.gif

Frogface's Thames was the first well known British CJ and it was stunning.

Can't think of many more just now, but I will probably remember more!
