Tripolis- One of 3 capital cities in Trination!

Hi everyone, this is my 1st CJ called Tripolis! There is a reason behind that and it is coming up shortly. So, here is the story:

10 travellers walk through the desolate landscape. The only things with them are mountains. These travellers are in contact with 2 other groups of 10, and they decided to form one big group. Suddenly, a plain opens up from the mountains and the travellers decide that this is a perfect place for a bustling metropolis. 

( sorry for that long R!)

Suddenly, the 2 other groups contact them saying that they have also found a plain suitable for a metropolis. So, the groups decided to name the country "Trination" as they also decided that there were going to be 3 capital cities! The group chose 1 person to be the mayor of the city and the others to be his assistants.

They heard that there was a government not far away so they contacted them and, they said they would love to take part in a capital city. So much so, that they gave them $100,000,000 to start off with. As you might imagine, they were delighted, and work started straight away.

Industry was already starting to develop, and the new mayor hadn't even planned the residential zones yet! The mayor then began to think about that small lump in the big plain. He reckoned that he could put more important buildings up there. He planned the residential neighborhoods, and thought about the buildings he could put up there. But he had forgotten that he hadn't put 1 basic service on the map!

Totally oblivious ignorant, he decided to build a massive tower, which will be his headquarters (HQ) and he placed it accross the river, so he can have a good view of the city.

by the way, sorry for the bar at the bottom on some of the images, i'll remember to sort that out)

And I almost forgot, I used a cheat in this city, which was snowcapped terrain (notice the mountains.) That's all for now!

not a bad start my friend nice intro and story and pics but why the big blue writing i think it would have been lots better a bit smaller and it would have been much neater and attracted more people to your cj just a thought thats all other wise its looking nice

good interesting terraforming, but youve only been here 4 days. i suggest you get some more STEX items, and browse the forums for city making tips. Use a better photoshopping thing, try photofiltre, its free. Work on your city making its not very good right now.

hmm... the landscaping looks okay but that big flat spot looks a little too fake. Maybe as you build the city you could incorperate it more and make some of the cliffs more gradual. Can't wait to see what the city will look like!

um okay maybe its not great, but it wont get better if people keep telling him that, i wouldnt be surprised if he left, and never played the game agian, al i have to say is use the type in the Photoshop so your not having to write it...and to zone better but i guess its a nice try, and dont take it the wrong way, im actually intersested to see what all happens

Guys! Be nice! He's only been here 4 days! If you need to fight with each other, that's what you can do in PM. 

Not too bad, the city is ok but I suggest reading up on the stuff a bit more first. Your terrain is also a bit dry, too. I personally use the Olympic Terain Mod or the Missouri Breaks mod for my cities (you can see what that looks like by clicing on the link in my signature)

But, hey, good start.

Okay, now that all the other stuff has passed, I do like the start. It is an extremely interesting region you have there. I'm looking forward to seeing how you develop it. My advice would be to develop as much as possible with an effort to follow the natural terrain. This can end up being a really neat city.

Sorry, I forgot to tell you that I used two other cheats (I musn't have been thinking straight!) I also used a water mod (I forgot the name) and I used the simolean mod for rush hour ($100,000,000 can't come out of nowhere!). Anyways thanks for replying as I will use these comments to improve my city. Expect more very soon (in the next 2-3 hours)!

Hello again. In this update we will get to see what happens on that piece of flat land above all the rest which the mayor said would be perfect for higher class people.  But first of all...

homeandaway: Thanks for the tip. I have heard of this already and have been using them.
granto93: I put the tower there because it overlooks the city (which is accross the river from the tower) so it may look random from the image.
jacqulina: I have changed the writing and only put it where needed ( I think only one image) so it should look better.
patriots_1228: I do have photofiltre now and that's where I've changed any neccesary photos. I've also cropped them so the bar at the bottom isn't there.
muffinpunk787: I have made those cliffs a bit more gradual. There are now only a few places where you can actually see the cliffs.
Amerikaner: I have used writing from the photoshop on one of the images but for this update it isn't really needed.
patriots_1228 (2) : I understand that you are not insulting, and I have improved my city a bit on those tips.
Amerikaner (2) : It doesn't matter anyway because now I know how to improve thanks to some people's tips.
jacqulina (2) : I am improving from what everyone is saying so I am gaining more knowledge, this update will show.
zelgadis: I agree with you a bit there. I am trying to make a CJ and I am putting everything I know about Simcity 4 into it.
IDS2: I might use those mods in future posts but when you said this I already had this next bit planned.
zelgadis (2): I do have a lot of plans to make this a big bustling metropolis.

Now, onto the update...
So, the mayor in his big tower, decided that he would have some very important things upon that hill, including his tower. So that came first: 



He then had his old tower demolished.


After that he installed a personal helipad for trips out of the city

He then zoned for very posh and very tall buildings. Hi-rise buisnesses, 5-star hotels and big mansions were expected.

Within a week or two the whole estate sprung up. This really attracted wealthy residents bringing in all the more revenue, but there were no jobs.

That's when the other side of the road comes in.
The buisnesses rapidly rise. Many hi-rises now set the city's skyline.

In the next update...
Will the mayor hear any news of the other groups who found plains suitable for cities?
A disasterous tornado enters the vicinity, threatening the city.
And, another group of explorers set foot on untouched terrain.

Also, I am more than happy to hear your views, or anything I can improve on.
But for now, please wait until Wednesday or later for the next update.
Cheats used: Plopable buildings, NAM mod (I don't know if it is included in this update)

nice update, like the fact you moved the tower to the top of the hill. makes for a very commanding presence. I know I know i also have a bit of a habit of being griddy but curved roads make a city look nice and realistic. With the addition of some more STEX items this Cj will be off the ground in no time. bring on more my friend

the two biggest things you could do to improve

1) get more STEX items! this will take a while, but after a month or so you will have a could collection.

2) city layouts-you can stick with the grid for now, since youve just started your still learning, but try and make things more interesting and realistic.

to turn of toolbars, hit the minus thing, that will allow you to take bigger pics. turn of the zones by using the cheat zoneria. if you need any help pm me, id be glad to help.

i like the big blue skyscraper! good start on the downtown. However, wuts with the white stuff? is it supposed to be snow?
