Back to reading Orson Scott Card, I've always loved his marvelous science fiction since I first read Enders Game. Now I'm reading The Worthing Saga.

I never got around to reading Enders Game. I've had a copy in my posession for over a decade. One day. Anyway I finally finished A Prayer for the Dying which was very dark and very good. I love books that take place in the rural US many decades ago. This was post-Civil War Wisconsin. Now I'm onto "Education of a Wandering Man" by Louis L'Amour. My buddy bought me a copy for Christmas and I'm finally getting to it.

The Real Mother Goose illustrated by Blanche Fisher Wright and introduced by Dr. May Hill Arbuthnot.

These are the original versions, not the watered-down versions that are ubiquitous nowadays. I recieved this book from my parents when I was seven years old, and many of the tales (over three hundred of them) are completely illustrated.

the things they carried. very interesting. though going off to war is often portrayed as heroic, patriotic, and courageous, o'brien implies that the weakest often end up cradling machine guns.

I'm about a third of the way through The Brotherhood of the Rose by David Morrell. I've been pretty impressed by how bad it is. I should have stopped reading after the first chapter but at this point I'm just helplessly rubbernecking a tragic mess.

I recently finished Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. That was a much better book though it was kind of a let down. I'm a pretty big fan of Pratchett and I didn't feel that his work was necessarily improved by collaborating with Gaiman.

Before that I read Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. Now that was a good book. I highly recommend it. I watched the recently released film adaptation of it a few days after I read it and I can't really say the movie was all that good but the book is an outstanding read.

I just wrapped up the Victorian Age in Brit Lit. My favorites were the selections by Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest and "The Nightingale and the Rose."

I'm now reading a book from the college library called Maximum Page Design: Pushing the Boundaries of Page Layout Under Real-World Limitations by John Foster. With plenty of illustrations, descriptions, and tips, it explains the various design commissions of graphic designers and how they came up with, and implemented, a graphic design solution for their respective clientele.

    Finished Enders Game.

Are the rest of the books in that series, Speaker for The dead ect, as good as that one was?

I will have to buy copies of them if thier up to that level.

Currently reading The moon is a harsh Mistress by Heinlien

Which took a bit of getting used to the style of writing in that one, was thinking there were a bunch of Typo's in my copy

but seems to just be the style he wrote this in, sort of using slang and made up words.
