    Mom - 2000 Acura TL

    Dad - 1996 Toyota Avalon

I'm not old enough yet either. I can't wait to drive.

I would also like to see more replies here. This is a very interesting topic.

Our family has a 1995 Volvo, 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, and a Chevrolet truck from the mid-1980s.

Though I am theoretically old enough to drive, and should have a permit by now, I really am not looking forward to driving and have been heavily procrastinating getting my restricted permit.

I drive a 93 Mercury Grand Marquis. It looks like a grandma car and has a bad oil leak, but it has a remote starter and my nice CD player...and only cost me $900 (which is less than my computer...)

    Your welcome.

Well, I'll list the cars our family has

    Dad - 1996 Mazda 2300 (Ford Ranger's twin)

Mom - 2003 Chevy Cavalier (I hit 105 mph in that car once, hehe)

Older sister - 2003 Chevy Cavalier (same car, different color and 17" rims with Kumho tires)

Young sister - 2007 Toyota Yaris Liftback (great car, wish it was mine)

Me - 1993 Geo Prizm LSi ( great little car despite the 225k miles, fuel efficiency and its 3 speed transmission)

Last, the 2000 Nissan Quest SE which I sometimes drive.

skyliner22: My mom really likes those MDXs. The new ones are really nice too, and the RDX is also a good small SUV.   A 1998 Toyota Celica GT, eh? Nice sports car.

M-SIL: By liftback, you mean hatchback, right? Anyway, the Yaris is a great car, it has a lot of features, and of course it gets excellent gas milage. The only thing I would say I dislike about them is that the speedometer and all the other similar components are mounted in the center, just like the car it replaced, the Echo, since it makes you take your eyes very far away from the road. But radios, climate controls, and navigation systems will do the same too.

No offense to anybody here, but Toyota is a foreign car company in the U.S., and the fact that they get lots of money from us Americans is bad news for the American-owned car companies. I really don't want the American car companies to go out of business because my dad works for GM, and what he makes is barely enough to pay all our bills (except for the $100 I pay for my car insurance) because he is the only income for my family (besides me having a job to pay for my car insurance and gas). We'd be struggling if he lost his job because of foreign companies forcing American companies out of business.

That said, I bet you can guess where all of our vehicles are from. My dad drives a Z71 (not sure of the year model), my mom drives an '04 Chevrolet Impala, and I drive a '95 Oldsmobile Aurora (which is actually quite nice). Before last week, I had driven a '94 Oldsmobile Achieva for the past 1 1/4 years, and that same car was the family car back in older days.

Rather, the fact that the Big 3 can't put out a product to compete with Toyota is bad news for them.

If the Big 3 go out of business, they have no one to blame but themselves.  They have all been putting out a low-quality product for far too long, and I am happy to see the better company get their business.

GM and Ford both look like they're improving, though.  The new Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade have greatly improved interior/exterior design, and the fit and finish seems to be much better than on the previous generation. The new Malibu looks impressive as well, though I don't care for the grill design.  And though I have never been in or near one, I have heard that the Ford Edge is a worthy competitor in the crossover SUV segment.  Chrysler, however, doesn't seem to be showing any improvement in it's new Sebring, and the last thing they needed is a 10 mpg blingmobile like the Aspen.

    Go Toyota!

Yeah its the hatchback (which looks much better than the sedan I think), the manufacturer calls it that. Here is a picture of it (which also gets attention as you could tell).

None taken, Craig.  I do agree with everything you said, and I see that the Big 3 are all taking great measures in competition with the foreign brands.  Although I am a supporter of Toyota, I just hope they don't start dominating all of the market share.  Personally I would hate to see a car company like Ford or GM to go bankrupt.  I would also hate to see Toyota's logo on almost every car on the road as well.  In conclusion, I take back that comment I said in my previous post..

Praetorian Cohort: Well, Ford does make very good cars, I have to admit the Fusion is a great competitor towards the Accord and Camry.  And you can't really go against the F-150.  The Mustang is also one of my favorite cars.  I agree with your comment about GM's trucks (the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade and Suburban/Yukon XL) as they are great SUV's and sell like hotcakes, as do the Sierra/Silverado. And yes, the Ford Edge does seem like a great competitor in the crossover SUV segment.

Chrysler, however, doesn't seem to be showing any improvement in it's new Sebring, and the last thing they needed is a 10 mpg blingmobile like the Aspen.quote>

Chrysler's success comes from cars like the PT Crusier, the Charger, and its minivans.  Chrysler is kind of a sitting duck right now because they haven't redesigned their Dodge Ram for a long time now, while most of its competitors have.

M-SIL: Personally, I think the Honda Fit is a better car overall.   If you don't need much out of a car, buy the Yaris.  If you are looking for a better, quieter ride, then choose the Fit.

Well, I have to say my family is quite the American company supporter.

My mom's primary car is an `02 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

My dad has an `05 Ford F-150

My grandmother has an `04 Saturn L-series, and an `88 Dodge Ram

Grandfather with an `05 Ford Crown Vickie and an old `90 or so Ford F-series

The comes my dad's collection, a 1957 Ford Rectractable, Station Wagon, Custom 300, two Sunliner convertibles, and several Thunderbirds (all 1957 models).

Then, lastly comes my car, a 1962 Ford Fairlane 500, and definitely the oldest car in the school parking lot (it has also been nicknamed "the Tank")

I don't have my own car, although I do have a license.

My mom has a 1998 Ford Windstar (what I drive when she isn't using it).

My dad owns a 1992 Ford Ranger. (I don't know how to drive a manual transmission).
