Traffic is way too fast! Is there a mod?

I've been looking and I heven't found any previous post on this topic nor a mod created to fix the problem, so it looks safe to go ahead and post this. The traffic on the streets and roads goes way too fast in my game; I mean, way too fast! And the traffic on the highways goes so fast it zips on from one side of the screen and out the other before I can even tell what it was! 22.gif It seems a little rediculous and I'm not sure if it's a game wide thing, or if it's just me. I do have a pretty zippy CPU @ 2.8GHZ, so maybe it's just that my computer is prossesing the game way too fast. I don't know. Anybody else have this problem? If so, I guess what I'm asking is if there's a mod out there created to slow those lead foots down a bit 9.gif to a more realistic speed limit.

Thanx!

If you have Rush Hour, I've read that the traffic speeds are syncronized to the speed you're playing the game at (ie, they move faster on Cheetah speed). Supposedly, there's an option to turn this off somewhere in the options.

JaWood... IF you have Rush Hour.. the taffic (cars) will flow as fast as the simulator is going.. so if your running at Cheeta. the cars will be going super!!!! fast!.. if you pause it.. all the cars will pause.. if you want to turn this off, go into the options and disable it.. its called something like Automata somethign something.. but if you only have the normal SC4.. then maybe try using that mod that bomberfan gave ya... but dont! install that modd if you do have Rush Hour.. as many of you notice the Mods dont work with RH now.. we have to wait till someone fixed them again.. so you cant use the plop modd. .nor industrial quader etc..etc..

Here is a mod I whipped up to slow vehicles down on roads, streets, and highways. If you need it changed, pm me.

*sigh*

I would advise everyone NOT to use bomberfan's "mod." He obviously doesn't understand some things, in particular what was being asked in this thread. What his mod does is actually slow down the COMMUTE SPEEDS of the various network types. The commute speeds in the Traffic Simulator never affected the visual speed of vehicles in the original SimCity 4, and I very much doubt they affect the visual speeds in Rush Hour either.

bomberfan, next time make sure you know what someone is asking for before you toss out a mod, especially one like this that is going to seriously affect commute speeds.

Have you noticed that its impossible to use the query tool on the highway!

I cant get a reading for the amount of vehicles using the highway. In fact almost know one uses them-instead they use the avenues.

When I use the query tool to see how the residential sims get to work NO PATH IS SHOWN on the highway.

Whats going on!

Well, first of all, make sure you are using the correct query tool.....the one on the bottom of the button (the trip query or path query or whatever its called). If no one really is using the highway, make sure that you have on and off ramps (may sound like a "duh" but people do overlook things). Also, they won't use the highway if they don't need to. If work is only 25 tiles away and a road goes to it that is not congested, why bother with the highway.

THAT would be hillarious. I've induced a sideache laughing at what would've happened if someone actually installed that. Whoo, that made my day!

I should have been more clear...

I have on ramps and I am using the correct tool

In, fact if I bring up the traffic volume graph, I can see orange and yellow on the highway-indicating that there are cars using the highway

But, when i use the query tool it says there are "0" vehicles using the highway.

ok, I know what you're talking about, you use the route query tool and is says "0". If this is Rush Hour your're talking about, you have to make sure your're pointing at the correct side of the road/highway. it will say "0" if you're pointing on the wrong side of the highway b/c they don't drive that way. Also, make sure you are using morning commute/evening commute button correctly. The numbers do swtich with the buttons. Just make sure you are pointing the tool on the right side of the street, etc. Now if it's still doing it, then I have no clue. Yeah I just tried it right now in-game. If you just point on the correct side of the highway ( the side they use to get to work) if should show some numbers.

I still can't get sims to use highways.

I put all Res. in one area, and all Ind. in another and made the connection them with a ground level highway and the sims won't use it. WHAT GIVES.

The sims would not travel even when I added a Avenue between the two areas.

Finally I added a road and the sims used that to get to the Ind. jobs. This makes NO sense. Can someone shed light onto my problem.

I have removed ALL plugins from my plugin folder.

I have never experienced this problem before. In fact, when I first started playing everything worked fine until I added a ground level highway.

I have used the query and it reports "0" cars on the highway and NOW on the Ave. I also have used the traffic volume indicator and it show NO activity.

What is going on?

Thanks for any help!!

lol this could be it, but I gotta make sure you didn't overlook it. You are running the simulation right? let it run for a month, nothing will show if you're paused. Don't take this as me insulting your intelligence, I'm just making sure.

I had the same problem with the cars moving WAY too fast, LOL. Variable speed automata (spelling?) did the trick by turning it off.
