As promised before, the last 4th camera is now installed (the CTC15A2-00 section has total of 4 cameras).  The real-world version has a non-tilt/panning camera installed on this street light below.  But for giggles, I decided to install it with QuickSet pan-tilt mount in case they upgrade it in the future:

Close up shot of the 4th camera:

    101.jpg

    Back view of the camera.

The entire 11 lanes of highway segment entering the tunnel now has corner-to-corner video surveillance coverage.  The Big Dig has the most number of cameras per every mile stretch of highway in North America, averaging up to around ~63 cameras for each mile stretch of highway.

    102.jpg

Power boxes installed.  Cameras and electronic signs receive their power and network connections from nearby power boxes embedded into the tunnel boat structure walls.  Intelligent Transportation System installation is now completed in this model.

    103.jpg

Entire aerial view shot in East Side View.  The whole model is about 60% completed now.  It is 5 tiles wide, totalling 11 lanes interfacing the tunnel.

I realize that this is off topic... but I have to know are you using that quote by Lientenant Gordon as an excuse for proudly displaying a flag for a "country" that wanted to use human beings as property?

You're right, that's completely off-topic and therefore doesn't belong here. Let me attempt to put the thread back where it should be:

Blahdy, your work just keeps looking better and better! I can hardly wait to get my hands on some of this!

Meastro444:  Currently, estimated to be about ~345,000 polygons.  This puzzle section is budgetted for 500,000 polygons though, we'll see if it can make it under that limit. 2.gif

chocolate_city: what? off topic indeed, please move along.

blahdy: are you planning on releasing each peice as you finish it, or are you going to wait until all the pieces are complete to release?

I'm guessing he'll wait until they're all done, because one is no good without the others. Also, since it's being designed to be used with elevated and underground RHW, it probably won't be released until that is released too.

The level of detail going into this is amazing! It will be a great addition to the game when it is done and fully modded.

I think this is almost definitely doable, especially b/c LODing for objects above ground level (i.e. bridge sections) can be as simple as just a primitive box for purpose of construction stage.  I'll give this a serious consideration.  I may release the current tunnel portal work without lane markings as construction stage, then release final component version when project is complete.

BTW, apologies for lack of updates lately, RL is getting hot here, but i'll have some updates as soon as i'm able 2.gif

Simple answer: It will be done when it is done.

Long answer: There is no set release date for any of those projects, but early versions of the Big Dig, RHW, and suicide lanes can be found on the STEX. Functional turning lanes are part of the NAM.

the RHW will also be part of the NAM, so it's the good old NAM motto, it will be released, when it's done.

Until then, there's no other thing but to wait..

here is a new update in a long while 2.gif

Near the Project Demarcation Line (PDL), which means 'end of puzzle piece', Zakim bridge's  last 3 cables touch down at their terminus on bridge's spline beam section.   These are the anchors for these cables (these cables in particular actually are anchored on top of the ground, instead of bridge's deck section).   The actual cables will be modelled when the North Tower Bridge puzzle section gets under way.

After long lasting study and review of Zakim bridge photos and visits, it appears about at least 5-6 cables actually are anchored right on the ground, on top of bridge's abutment, instead of bridge's deck section.  Apparently these on-ground anchored cables don't really provide transfer for vertical stress load (like most cable stayed bridges' cables do), but rather provide horizontal stress load transfer, so that Zakim bridge's giant tower does not bend during hurricane or earthquake.

    110.jpg

West side wall for the tunnel portal boat structure is now completed, ready for installation of fins and completion details.
