Yea, I'm slightly offended you didn't include any cities in Quebec. So, add some post haste!

Why are Vaughan, Surrey and Burnaby on there? They aren't really cities as much as satelites of Vancouver and Toronto respectively. They really don't belong on the list since they aren't distinct areas. Also what about Charlottetown? No love for PEI?

I second the need for Charlottetown on the list. Also, being from New Brunswick, I know that Saint Johners would be frothing at the mouth to see both Moncton and Fredericton on the list but not Saint John.

For the record, I like Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City, Halifax and Charlottetown.

Victoria and Vancouver are my picks. It's hard to beat the closeness of both the sea and mountains.

Also, I second that Surrey and Burnaby don't need to be on the list (lived in both of them, part of Greater Vancouver.) Victoria, a Provincial Capital should be on the list too.

    I say Flin Flon!

Just kidding. I've only been to Toronto, and I can say that it was the most beautiful city I've ever been to. Hopefully this summer, I'll make it to Montr

Quebec City! It's the most unique in North America.

Other cities I really like are: Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, and Winnipeg (another elegant city). I've never been to Victoria (despite living just a ferry ride away) so I didn't add it to my list.

Hard call to pick THE favourite. Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal are all cities I've found to be cities I love, each in their own way because they're so totally different. The whole country (well, all of the places I've seen, anyway) is really beautiful. For a country that borders the U.S., it's like being in another world. Also, I've gotta say that Toronto is absolutely the cleanest city I've ever seen. (At least it was the times I was there.) It amazed me how it could be so clean and trash free given the size and population.

I really like Vancouver and Montreal. However, I was surprisingly taken by Ottawa. It is such a striking contrast to many capital cities that I've been to like D.C, Mexico City, London etc.

Well as far as "nice city" Quebec City wins it by a mile... followed by Calgary then Montreal (for it's multicultural status)

Ottawa isn't too bad either, I didn'T really like T.O.

Toronto is by far, got to be the best city in Canada, with Vancouver coming second then Montreal.

In second place is Vancouver due to its lovely location beneath the mountains but by the water.

In first place is Montreal. The city is absolutel beautiful and looks very French. I love French-style cities.

You've got that right. I was kind of bummed out when I read that list.

My favourite Canadian city would have to be London, Ontario. Beautiful place, with lots of greenery. I also really liked Ottawa, Montréal, and Québec City when I visited them. Toronto is great, too. I'm in love with their airport, and walking the streets downtown is awe-inspiring.

I visited Charlottetown last summer, and it's a beautiful area, especially around the Province House.

Closer to home, I've spent extended periods in both Fredericton and Moncton, and I really like both cities. Saint John wins out as my favourite New Brunswick city, though.

Even places like Sarnia, Ontario, I've enjoyed. Sarnia reminds me a lot of Saint John—It's of a similar size, it's on the water, and it's very industrial. Sherbrooke, Québec is a beautiful city in the Eastern Townships, and I'd reccomend a visit there to anyone.

Heck, you might as well say that every Canadian city I've ever stopped and visited in, I've liked.

Don't forget about Whitehorse and Iqaluit. Yellowknife isn't the only territorial capital, but it certainly is a nice one, in the summer it ranks right up their with Vancouver. It truly is a beautiful mistic town both summer and winter.

Vancouver would be my choice, followed up by Yellowknife during the midnight sun and then Calgary.

Well Charlottetown, Iqualuit and Whitehorse are too small, as for Saint John, New Brunswick, I couldn't remember the other NB city, so now it is on the list. Toronto and Vancouver suburbs are off the list and I added Whistler to the list too 4.gif4.gif !!

PEI is one of the most beautiful places in the world.  But not in the winter.

    1. Vancouver

    2. A very colourful called Lunenburg, in Nova Scotia.. (Not too far from Halifax)

    3. Quebec City is pretty cool, history, mini european stuff, quite alot going on there.

Mississauga, Toronto, then Calgary, and I really don't like Vancouver, when I went there everyine kept aking me, (when they found out I live in the Toronto area) so when you going to move here? I live right beside Toronto, in Mississauga, and Toronot is great to visit, but not to live, i'll stick with my house and backyard, condos are not for me.

    I disagree.

You only need to actually visit Canada's cities to see they certianly do have their own identities, and are more unique than you perceive. I can't speak for the cities in the West, but I can assure you that your perceptions on Ottawa and Montréal are not true. You only need to experience these cities for yourself to know that.

Besides, you don't seem to have considered the multitude of other cities in Canada. I'd like to hear what you think of Québec City, Saint John, Halifax, London, and other cities too. You can't judge all of Canada by only a few cities.

Urbanism - Methinks you are being a little too harsh. It is however true that there are frequently American cities that sort of parallel their Canadian counterparts. These sister cities include:

    Halifax - Boston

    Saint John - Portland Me.

    Moncton - Bangor

    Ottawa - Washington

    Toronto - Chicago

    Windsor - Detroit

    Thunder Bay - Duluth

    Winnipeg - Minneapolis

    Calgary - Dallas

    Edmonton - Houston

    Vancouver - Seattle

Despite these sister city conbinations, I firmly beleive that there is a uniquely Canadian character to all of our cities that serves to differentiate them from their American cousins. I believe that most Americans who come to visit Canada find that the mixture of the familiar and the different that they discover in our cities is compelling, exotic and a little unnerving.
