From what I've been able to tell from the others here, you need a Windows version of SC4 for it to work. I put it up there mainly for people who are having issues with the SimCity main site.

And it should be an exe file. Is it really coming up a dat file?

    Not right away, but you can install and run Windows on an Intel Mac, using a program called Boot Camp, which is free on the Apple website. You do need a copy of Windows XP, but those should be pretty cheap now, since Vista came out.

    actually, I thought the same thing, now that vista is out, xp should be cheaper.. haha, actually not.. xp is still pretty spending at most retailers.. but you can pick an OEM xp sp2 at newegg.com for cheap.

    I am a mac owner too but the problem is mines is not a intel mac. Man intel macs are kinda of expensive!

    I just wonder if bootcamp or any pc emulating sofware will ever work on a PPC.

    PPC=powerpc

    p.s why cant someone just code a lot editor that works for mac.

    Boot camp wont work on a PPC, you must have an Intel Mac. Virtual PC, fi you can get an old copy, should do the job just fine.

    The LOT editor does not work on windows on virtual machines. No chances! It also fails to run on linux (while simcity itself works well). And boot camp isn't availlable any more. If you install an old copy, itself that the BETA testing period of boot camp has been expired. But somehow, Windows can be installed without boot camp. One solution is the refit boot manager.

    Yes, Boot camp comes with all new Macs and Leopard DVDs. It is no longer a free BETA download.

    Why would it not work in Virtual PC? I have yet to find anything that does not work in it.

    The LOT editor does not work if it has no direct access to the video card. It says could not initialize direct draw and terminated. If you use software emulation, it isn't able to ilustate anything except letters and freezes after a few seconds.

    I will just have to wait for a intel mac. Even when I do, I probably won't be much good at bating, anyway.
