How many people who bought the $500 Iphone last year are kicking them selves now?

Next year the Iphone 9G will be twice as fast as this one, and only cost  $79.00.

And the year after that they will be free when you sign A service contract.

So then, why is the ipod touch "Twice the price, half as fast"...or is there something I missed?  Surely Apple wouldn't charge hundreds more for a product with less functionality...right?quote>

What I think they are talking about here is the old iPhone. The new one has twice as fast internet connection at half the price.quote>

Yeah, I do know that, and that was their original message when saying that.  But it makes no sense to me, because it's like making a Nintendo DS $100, and a Gameboy Advance SP $200+.  Obviously, the former is way better and can even do what the later can do and more (like a touch screen, HAHAHA what a coincidence21.gif), but Nintendo is charging more...to use less.  Doesn't make much sense does it?  I do hope they drop the price on it, because my ipod is slowly crapping out on me and I need a new excuse to buy one; it even has a built in store for a goodie two-shoes like me. 3.gif

Not to spoil the sarcasm of the technological evolution mobile phones, but a 9G iPhone isn't possible yet because 9G hasn't been created yet.

3G is a standard of data and voice transmission for phones, not a speed of bandwidth or the capacity of a phone, it's a standard for the hardware to work on to make it capable of multimedia, data and streaming functions.

3G stands for 3rd Generation of developments in wireless and mobile technology.

the only thing they can do is a 2nd Gen 3G iPhone  or something along those lines, until 4G is possible.

And as for the latter part of your post, in the UK depending on the plan you choose, the phones get disconnected the more expensive the plan is(you can get a free iphone 8GB iphone if you get the most expensive plan) and it comes with unlimited data, which is very impressive compared to AT&T and Rogers plans, which are terrible compared to some other countries.

Who said the Iphone is cheap? Apple? The thing isn't really cheap at all.

When you sign a contract with ATT for two years, some part of the monthly payment will go to apple. I heard somewhere, you will end up paying like over 1 thousand when your contract expires.

If you want an unlocked iPhone the price is 599 bucks for the 8gb. im not really sure about the pricing.

Apple claims the iphone is the most advanced mobile platform. This is all lies, the phone cant do mms, video conferencing, copy paste etc.

Basically this new iphone is all hype.

BTW im not a hater infact im buying mine in one month when all glitches are cleared out and hopefully i will get a better deal.

They still sell GBA's?

But no it doesn't make sence, I was going to say that the price is cheaper because the technology inside them is easier to make. But the iPod touch only just came out. The only real reason that I can think of is because (Im basing this off my country) you need to pay for the plan aswell, so thats where apple can get their money back from. The price for a iPod Touch 8GB is $449 New Zealand Dollars, the price for the iPhone 8GB are $979 NZD, but you can get one for $200 NZD with a monthly plan of $250 NZD for 2 years. You can buy the iPhone over here for the same price as a iPod Touch, but you have to pay $130 NZD a month with user charges. I am not able to compare this to the 1st Gen iPhone, it never came out over here. But thats where apple will make the money.

I will still be getting one though, maybe in a month or two.

The iPhone 3G is a real hit here at where Apple is based, in Northern California, wherein in one news update, it mentions that there the gadget is sold out in at least 3 Apple and AT&T stores in the San Francisco Bay Area (reference: http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/technology&id=6258895). The price of $199 for the 8gB and $299 for the 16gB version are pretty much hard to beat, since similar phones of its nature can come to at least $249 and up (if with plans), and it is probably the first phone to have such large capacity to store music, movies, and more.

I'd rather wait for a better iPhone, though, because technology goes so quickly, you'd never know what's next in the mobile phone market today. 3G, though, is really amazing for me because I can surf the Internet wirelessly (Wi-Fi and mobile phone towers), and I can also check on what's up on gas prices, movies, and more. The next challenge: can the iPhone be capable to become a credit card of its own, like the Electronic Wallet in Japan?

Ah.

Didnt know thats what the 3G stood for thought it was a branding name or model type.

Hence the Sarcasm 3.gif

And remember: terrorism = death.  Therefore, by the transitive property, iphone = terrorism = death.  If you want to buy an iphone, you will die.

Yeah, now it's starting to clear up lol.

And the price should drop soon, if not by the next ipod line-up (which, knowing Apple, is T-Minus 1 year 3.gif)

Like I said, an ipod touch would be nice, but it's the music/videos that I absolutely need in a "portable media device", no more or less. 9.gif
