fukuda,

excellent job. i would be very interested to see how you would manage the interchange of traffic between decks, if that's even possible.

we all wait with bated breath.

bump!

sorry to bump this thread, again, folks, but i remembered that jeronij (and i assume the NAM Team in general) is currently working on an experimental bridge that is basically the Tsing-Ma Bridge in Hong Kong. this is significant because the bridge is the longest bridge of its type--and by type, i mean that it's a double decker highway/rail bridge! so, since i saw this thread, i was wondering if the NAM Team or anybody is aware that they will eventually have to make more puzzle pieces for that type of network and not just the bridge 4.gif i can't wait to see those. i wish i knew how to mod these things, cuz i'd love to make my own crazy stuff. transit's the funnest, no?

The Tsing Ma Bridge is currently under investigation by the NAM team, as you said, and it seems to work, but there are some oddities that need to be fixed, though. It clearly shows that the game was not intended for double-decker networks, so all kinds of weird things are happening, but if it turns out to be fully functional, it will definitely be included in the next NAM update.

He just announced at SC4Dev that he is taking a year off from batting.. So this means the project will be postponed until he comes back.

Has the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City been put into consideration?  As some of you may know, that is a double decker bridge as well!

I don't think the Brooklyn Bridge is. The Manhattan Bridge is. But I think the Brooklyn Bridge is just the one, save the pedestrian walkway. And that doesn't really go above the road except at the towers.

Also, the Brooklyn Bridge is already in the game, sort of. I think they call it "Medium Suspension."

EDIT: Here's the diagram from Wikipedia:

So, the pedestrian part is sort of double decker-ish. I don't quite know that that's what this project is about, though. It seems to me that it's more of a double road deck thing, like the Manhattan or San Fran-Oakland Bay Bridges.

I must say that the Brooklyn Bridge is an absolutely amazing piece of architecture. That it can last so long and still be able to serve the needs is quite amazing.

*gets out bridge book*

*face palm*

Whoops, my bad.  I meant the George Washington Bridge.  Here's a quote from the book...

"New York's George Washington Bridge has proved amazinly adaptable.  As built, it had six automobile lanes, but when, in 1946, the traffic usage expanded rapidly two other lanes were added.  This again proved insufficient, so in a daring and innovative step a new low level deck was added, providing a further six lanes and making this the only fourteen lane bridge in the world."

Isn't that amazing?  You're right about the Brooklyn Bridge though.  It really is something!19.gif

Very interesting double-deck concept. It reminds me of the "old" Central Artery in Boston and the upper and lower decks of I-93 north of the Charles River.  I look forward to it being released.

This has not be released and probably never will be.

Please read the post above you, it was posted in 2007, I think this thread is dead. It should not have been revived, but I realise that this is your first post, so just keep what I say in mind.
