The Barbary Coast has been inhabited by the Berbers since 10,000 B.C. These Berbers tribes controlled the country until 660 B.C when the Phonecians Started to establish trading posts on the Coast. Barbary was controlled by these Carthigians until Carthage was mtaken over by the Romans during the Punic Wars.

After the Roman Empire collapsed in 476, the Byzantine Empire took over the Barbary Coast. But in 600 the Ottoman Empire defeated the Byzantines at the Battle of Bechar, and took over Barbary. It stayed in there control until the French invaded in the 1800's, and sent thousands of French Citizens to control the Country. The native Berbers were not treated kindly, even thought some fought for the French during World War 2. In 1967 the Peoples Liberation Front, or the PLF took fought the French for Indpendence, and won.

After Indpendence, most people agreed that the King should control the country. So, King Abdul Jahari inherited the Kingdom, and ushered in an era of peace. But in 1994 all hell broke lose when the Southern tribes planted bombs in main berber cities, and demanded their indpendence. A bloody Cival War followed, costing the lives of nearly 250,000 people. Curently King Omar Hassan rules the Kingdom. Last year the first elections were held to fill minor offices, and the members on the lower tribunal(Senate).

I love your history, so real and detailled and interesting! As for in-game pictures, these guys (that's you folks!) don't know what's coming, but I do, and right now I am having my jaw removed from my desk, because of the force at which it dropped.

Hello and Welcome to the Barbary Coast.

Today we will be visiting the Capital City, Bechar.

The City is the Politcal, Financial, and Cultural Capital of the Country. It has a population of 5.7 Million people and is growing rapidly.

    BecharOverview.jpg

The Old District of the city is very popular to live and shop in, but is very expensive.

    A-1.jpg

in The Center of the Old District is the National Library. Originally the French Headquaters for the Barbary Coast, it was converted after  independence.

    A-2.jpg

The Republican Hotel, owned by a company in the United Rebulic of Ankara, is one of the nicest in the city. The Rebulican Hotel Chain also is contusting a new hotel at the Bechar Marina, and owns a resort outiside of the City.

    A-3.jpg

One of the most Luxurious places to live in the Old District is the Hami Gosam, a Residential Tower. Average rents go for 5 Million Dinars a month (800,000 USD).

    A-4.jpg

Seperating wide Avenue La Trimopha is the Grande Arche. Built by the French, it has the names of all cities in the Barbary Coast Inscribed around it.

    A-5.jpg

The Grand Canal runs right throught the district. In olden days it was used for transportation and irrigation, but today is it mostly recretional.

    A-6.jpg

The Districts Neat streets and avenues are arranged in a grid pattern, which were planned during Ottoman Rule.

    A-7.jpg

We leave you Today with Saint Peires Basicllica. Built also by the French, it serves Bechars 10% Catholic Population. Inside is painted a Mosaic, symbolizing each Saint, such as an Animal for Saint Francis of Assisi.

Nice update. And, your photoshopping the colors does tend to bring out a color scheme which evokes the Barbary Coast. Great work on that!

Wow this is a very impressive and different approach to a CJ. I like how u used European buildings but set it in a different tone to look North African. What would expand the touch would be some mud brick buildings! keep up the good work!
