Dude that looks sweet! But I think that's just a rendered image... Well, I gotta watch the trailer... I wonder if it's console or PC.

I wish they had full size nukes for games! You know taking out a army at a time, or wiping out a city with one nuke.

Here is some info I gathered about the game....

Sweden's Massive Entertainment may best be known for its Ground Control tactical games, which put you in command of sci-fi armies that battled with futuristic versions of tanks, helicopters, and artillery. World in Conflict, the company's next game, lets you do something a bit different. The Soviet Union was on the verge of economic collapse. Instead of the gradual shift toward democratization that took place in the early '90s, though, in World of Conflict the Soviets decide to spur on their economy by invading the US, landing forces in Seattle and spreading outward from there. The US forces are obviously not going to take that sitting down, however, resulting in open warfare between the two superpowers.

When you load up a game of World in Conflict, you're going to be asked to take on the role of a commander in either the Soviet or the US armies. As in Battlefield 2, it appears that multiplayer games of World in Conflict always force two armies against each other, with individual players attempting to work together to spur their side into victory. Each of the factions here seems to be evenly matched, however, with no disparities in abilities immediately apparent.

As you might expect from a strategy game that is set in the Cold War, you'll have access to all of the appropriate weapons and vehicles.Abrams tanks, Apache helicopters, Bradley fighting vehicles, and all of their Soviet counterparts. In addition to all of these conventional units, you can also call in tactical aids, or special attacks and powers. A simple and inexpensive tactical aid power might be to call in a radar plane (like an AWACs) that can cut through the fog of war and show you the location of enemy units. A more expensive tactical aid could be to call in an artillery strike that can pound an enemy concentration or request a fighter sweep to clear the sky of hostile helicopters. The most expensive tactical aid is the nuclear missile, which not only creates a huge blast but also leaves behind an incredible mushroom cloud. The blast radius is also now radiated, which can cause damage to any units that stray into it.With its real-world units and setting, World in Conflict feels like a combination of Tom Clancy and Command & Conquer. In fact, author Larry Bond is one of Clancy's collaborators and furnished the story for the game's single-player campaign.

Basically this game has alot of options...play with tanks and soiliders or you can go all out.....

Also this game should be out in a few months....

Cjah, this sounds like the designers did their homework and thought things through quite nicely. While I doubt I'll be getting the game, I am glad to hear that someone cares to make their games worth something on all levels of the process.

Hmm at that rate it doesn't seem like much more than a modern version of AoE3 (Does anyone play that?) It's set in the cold war, with all the modern weapons...

(This game only gives me another reason to convince my mom to buy me a Nvidia 7900GTX - much more than I can afford)

That would be a tacticle nuke people which is much smaller than a real one. Also thats real gameplay image there. The rendered stuff looks like a movie though 9.gif.

Go to www.worldinconflict.com and watch the new Seattle Invasion Trailer, one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Yeah the seattle trailer was awsome!

Though as with most games nowadays i dont really trust the devs anymore so im going for my usual "try b4 i buy" tactic, if it lasts me more joy that about 48 hours its worth buying XD

But it looks like it will so it seems that its all good.

The whole US vs. USSR concept reminds me of the Command & Conquer games, but they weren't bad, and this looks pretty interesting, too. I want to play it just from watching the trailer.

I got to play for 3 days, really fun game, and you really need to work with your team, which is really good fun. however balancing seems to be of a warcraft 2 style, which is rather dull.

Be warned though... if you dont have a beefy... top of the line computer... this game will rock your Pc to a stand still...

now I know that I dont have a top of the line rig... but it holds its own in most games.... including 30fps in flight simulator X ... and we know that is a barn burner....

but this game was a stagering mess when I played it during the public beta....even just on the tutorial missions my case was grunting and sweating...

be sure to read the case requirments...and if you dont meet at least the recomended specs... you might want to consider a diffrent game... or donating a kidney to science to fund a new rig  4.gif

I second what Bourne said, its a very heavy game, my 3000+(S756) with 2gb of memory and an X850XT was just able to run it fluently on the lowest grapics settings, but then this coumputer is reaching its third year of operation now.

My computer also plays FS X, but it dosnt look very apealing and its not fluent XD

I got the demo a few weeks ago - it looked like a rather entertaining game, and I might have to take a look at it.

However, I will have to throw in my own two cents about what Bourne and xiziz said - even though I only had the demo, there were quite a few stutters and hiccups. The box I used was unpacked in early July, so it's pretty new, though nearer the bottom line in gaming than the top (2 gigs RAM, AMD 64 dual 4400. When I played the demo, I had a historically bad 64 NVidia, since replaced by a 256 NVidia 7600).

And, remember, this was only in demo mode. I imagine the full game itself has quite a few more bells and whistles - and that the lag on my machine would be remarkable when getting into some of the more involved scenarios, especially in large cities.

However, I will be giving this one a serious look upon release. Of course, Bioshock could end up hypnotizing me.
