Regarding loading speed: According to my observation, the loading times are a lot faster if the content of the plugins folder is condensed into one or maybe only a handful of huge DAT files, compared to thousands of individual files. As wouanagaine said, the initial startup time (to the region view) is most likely the result of building a TGI index of all plugins that are installed. If the game doesn't have to scan thousands of files, but only a handful, it should be able to load faster. I also noticed that using these mega DATs will speed up the loading times of a city notably, which is probably also related to the TGI index thingy. I also assume that in this step, PNG files for the menu will be loaded, as well as LTEXT files for names and descriptions. The FSHs and S3Ds will be loaded after entering a city, though - actually, they will be reloaded whenever you rotate or zoom the map.

As you can see I'm a forum newb and by extension I would say a web structure newb (although I will be forced have to change that soon 42.gif 2.gifso I never thought of actually looking in the folder for new/altered files

both the infos.html and infos.xml files correctly display (I'm assuming) the same data, which is awesome and will definitely come in handy 29.gif

so it's all good as far as I am concerned except for 2 things. One, the mystery library.zip file that is corrupt and won't unzip, and 2, when the program is done cataloging the files, the only thing that pops up at the end by way of a web page or interface is something called SC4InfosViewer.html, which is still just a blank page with nothing on it but the title SC4LotInfosGenerator and nothing else. No links, no graphics...I am going to go out on a limb and assume the problem is just an issue with the code at the link between this page and infos.html ? I don't remember this particular page's filename being mentioned in an earlier post though. Could it be an issue with a pop-up blocker or perhaps unzipping it? I've had issues with the unpacking process on datasets before, on other computer systems

wouanagaine: weird, it seems that error means you have a growable lot with a zoning value I don't know ( lot property 0x88EDC793 )

Is there any other values that can be put in that property ? quote>

    kdpflush you do not have to unzip the library.zip, it is only used by the tools and it is normal windows says it is corrupt

    I don't think it is a popup blocker, there is no popups , but it can be your javascript / activeX settings in your browser, do the infos.html have some stuff in it ? do the infos.xml contains something ?

    NetPCDoc thx for the list ! so a growable lot should not have anything else outside the [1-9] range.

    I second bwatterud, porting SC4Mapper can be quick straightforward as I have not use windows specific code ( besides an API call to get the MyDocuments folder ). The python code does not need to be ported, and there is only 2 C/C++ files to recompile. I will make a call in the Mac forum.

    Wouamagaine, thanks for making this lot.

    Since I started playing I have been downloading from ST and other sites. Somewhere I lost track of the files and I made a Word file of all the characteristics of the building and how it looks (yeah I know I am an amateur). I limited myself to the growing lots. Somehow I am still missing files (yesterday I saw a 6x5 slum lot grow) and your programm will be worth gold in fining what I need.

    I have been told that the xsl will only show the R$ ( no R$$ or R$$$ ), so until I make a patch you may edit the SC4LIGXSLT.xsl file ( with notepad.exe )

    find the template that start with :

    <xsl:template match="Lot">   

      <xsl:choose>

        <xsl:when test="Purpose='1' and Wealth='1'">

          <xsl:call-template name="Lot2"/>

        </xsl:when>

    quote>

    and remove the and Wealth='1' part

    wouanagaine love the InfoLotsGenerator its great. However I ran into a problem that was easy to fix. The Patch that you made to show only growable lots has a flaw I believe. When I used the Patched version it showed all my growable lots except none of my R$$, and R$$$. So I tried it without the patch and there they were. I think maybe because of lots come with a ploppable and a growable and you have the option to delete one but keep the other. Not sure...I dont use any ploppable residental. But running without the patch showed it all.

    I've just downloaded them on my home pc from the first post, everything is ok using FireFox1.0.7 & IE6

    I really don't know what happen, maybe it was just temporary and each of you tried at that same time ?

    A big thanks wouanagaine.  The lot generator is great and the clip to pic program is an execellent capture program for mutiple captures with anything I've tried it with.  I am very grateful.

    Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the dark blue background the lotgen uses for Co building doesn't work well with the black text.

    And by doesn't work well, I mean that my eyes turn into two smoking craters after looking at it for more than 15 seconds ;-)

    wouanagaine, as I stated before (here and at Peg's), I *adore* LIG. I would like to be able to have a catalog of everything I download, not just what I have in my game. One option would be to unzip everything into my plugins folder, run LIG and save the output. But then I would have to remove everything I don't want. Is there a way to point the program to a different folder? I was thinking that I could create a fake plugins folder on a different hard drive, install all my plugins in that location and then have the program scan the directory but I'm not sure if that would be possible. Thank you for your time.

    Yes, I will upload a new version soon in which you can browse any folder, ( include Program files\SC4 \plugins to get maxis datas ), and where you can configure the output html ( providing you know a little about html )

    I know nothing at all about html, but I'm a quick learner and can't wait for the new version.

    And thank you, yes, my monitor is fine.  I'm just happy that I was looking up, otherwise it might have gotten into my keyboard.  2.gif

    I keep getting an error when I try to run the program...I get the pictures in the images folder ok, but I keep getting an error saying that it cannot find the infos. file, even though it is present in the folder I created in the C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff\My Documents\SimCity 4\sc4lotinfogenerator folder. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong or what I need to do to get the thing working??

    The file that it keeps saying it cannot find is called SC4InfosViewer.htm. Sorry I didn't include that info in my last post!!

    open it, even if it does not automatically open, it should work if you open it manually

    I have the same problem with any html I have in mydocuments folder, I have to manually drag any html file into firefox

    Hey vab no problems

    A new version of SC4LIG is available on first post

    it will create an SC4Full.xml that contains every data of every lot/building examplar you have

    it will allow you to browse for a certain folder, no more need to put everything in your plugins folder

    it will allow you to 'easily' make your own html output

    I provided 2 templates

    templatesFull.py <- a lot of information is generated

    and

    templatesSmall.py <- minimal set of information is generated

    the templates.py is the file you will have to edit to choose what template you want to use

    you can create/modify/add your own template

    just follow the instruction I put in thoses above files ( I know there may not be very clever for a non programmer, but it is easier for me 3.gif )

    Hi Wouanagaine!

    LIG does not start up and produces the following log:

    Traceback (most recent call last):
      File "SC4LotInfosGenerator.py", line 21, in ?
    ImportError: No module named xmlP

    I already tried renaming the template files (replacing the small original template.py one with templateFull.py), but changed nothing else in the folder.

    Any ideas?

    have you unzip the file with structure folder 'on' ?
