What Sports do you play? Many of us will play sports, and if those that don't will most likely have an interest in them.

While I wouldn't describe myself as a sportsman, I do play a lot of sports, I'm sure other people will be the same or the exact opposite.

So tell us about your sporting interests!

As for myself, I play as number one goalkeeper for my school's under 16 football (soccer) team, and second choice for the under 18. It requires agility and quick reflexes, something I have been working to improve for a long time. I also play Judo, "the Gentle Way" (as much as it doesn't look it 3.gif ) and am currently a 7th Mon Orange belt. Again it requires agility and sharp reflexes, as well as good balance and focus. I occasionally play Squash as well, but I'm not that great a player. Like most other people my age, I like swimming, and go to my local pool frequently, but I prefer playing around in the water to actually doing lengths.

Let's hear from you!

Basketball/Skateboarding

Basketball has to be one of the most complicated sports, having to do with a lot of parts of your body working at the same time. The feet and legs makes you weave and out of the players and it takes some complicated footing and you have to be one step (no pun intended) ahead of the person guarding you so you have to predict what they're going to do and work on that knowledge to either move on past him, or pass the ball. As for the hands...well, they're for shooting. 2.gif

Skateboarding takes some complicated footing as well...I won't bother explaining it all here.

I play both field hockey and lacrosse.

Field hockey is my absolute favorite. I play for my high school team [i made the Varsity this year...yay!] In fact, our season just ended. It's such a fun sport, although it can get very nasty (you all know how some girls can get...).

Lacrosse is another fun sport. I play that for my high school as well.

EDIT: Y.A.H's post made me think of another sport I love---skiing. :]

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas.

hmmm...
now my 27 year old story. 3.gif
I used to play football. I was the goalie, but I had a bad habit of aiming for people's hands when I kicked... so I was removed from the position. (though I must say, I was better than the person who they replaced me with)
I also did Judo untill I broke my nose demonstrating a trip for someone... my partner, who claimed to know how to do it, did it wrong during the demonstration and slammed me onto th emat on my nose. ouch. 3.gif
I played rounders in scouts... don't remember if I was ever any good at it. I remember standing at the second stick for ages. 3.gif
I played baseball when I moved to the USA on a team... I was pretty good. But I was known for two things... 1. getting hit by the ball during the pitch, or hitting the ball extremelly far. WHen I swung, I moved over the base a bit, hence the hitting... I was "Hit Hard, or be hit hard" Ash. This lasted until I was hit in the face...
after that incident, I was rubbish at football and baseball.
I then found out throughout school that I was AWESOME at dodge ball of any kind. 3.gif
I stopped playing sports in 7th and took up track. which I did for a few years. Then back in England, I dominated the chess club. Since then, I have lost my nack at sports, though I am still a fast swimmer and runner, and I love to waterski.

there ya have it folks, 27 years of Ash. 3.gif
oh, and btw... I was good at flag-football (american football) as I found in 6th ish grade... my speed and agility gave me the ability to run after the best kids in the class and get em. Though I couldn't catch the ball.
~Ash~
P.S. didn't check for spelling... beware of mistakes. 3.gif

I love watching hockey, and while I'm a terrible skater I love to play it as well. Soccer (football for you folk outside of North America) is fun to play as well, even though I'm pretty bad at it. One sport I am pretty decent at is tennis. Picked it up 2 years ago, and I still try and get an hour or so in each week. I used to do Tae-Kwon-Doe, which I got up to green stripe before I quit. I used to swim alot but I haven't had a chance to get to a pool in years, so I think I've lost my swimming talent quite a bit. When I was in Gr. 7, I was on the cross country team which I guess I was ok at. In the city championships, I placed 20th in my age group out of about 130, IIRC, so not that bad... didn't join the team any other years though.

Posting on web forums is my sportquote>

same...I dont excersize enough, I sit on my butt a lot and gained weight

I like to ride my bike. My town doesnt have any hills so I will go on and on for a long way and even out of town.

I like to swim too. Also like canoeing/kayaking but hardly ever get to do that.

I did soccer and baseball when I was younger because my parents made me but I sucked at both. I dont like basketball or football. LMAO the only reason I know the rules/play of football is because I was in band in high school and we had to play at all the games. I watch soccer on tv sometimes though.

....

....

Oh yeah. Don't mention the 'G' word around me. The 4 letter one, that ends with F

Does whiskey count as beer...I mean, sport?

I used to play baseball, hockey, football soccer, and still occassionally play golf. And there was a period of time as a youth when I wanted to be a professional wrestler, but that ended when the WWF screwed Bret Hart out of the title. I'm still angry about that.

hamsterTK -

Note the modifier preceeding your dreaded outdoor activity. There's actually a great disc golf course in your area - I went to school at A&M and played Disc Golf at Research Park many times...you should check it out sometime. All you need is a disc - you can get used ones at Play-It-Again Sports for less than $5. I swear your view of golf will change once you disassociate the ball and club.

I used to play a lot of Cricket when I was young.... 15.gif

Does any one else play/played cricket. I am sure at least the Aussies or the Brits must have played it once.

Plus I also achieved 3rd degree (Green Belt) in Tae-Kwon-Do (Korean Martial art) when I was 15. but I had to give up that too because of school and other things.
