The Japanese castle there does look quite good. 4.gif A nice blend of the Asian and Western. Most importantly, the spirit is there, having it surrounded by gardens, and all Japanese castles are surrounded by gardens!

Twiggy,

Absolutely, yeah it certainly is realistic even if you don't know it is. 3.gif I know what you're saying about there being too many dependencies, but I always make my own lots anyway because I like to make everything fit in together in my cities, lol. And yes, I live about an hour or so from Indinanapolis. The city I live in goes right past I-70 which goes straight into downtown Indianapolis.

Neat Japanese castle/park you have there, I was just watching a Godzilla movie and he trampled through a castle that looked very similar to the one in your picture. LOL As Ian (zelgadis) mentioned, all Japanese castles are surrounded by gardens and such, and there is no exception here! Reminds me of a peaceful inner city park, kind of like Osaka Castle in Japan. Have you ever heard of it? If you haven't, you should check it out, it's breathtaking.

And, nice housing areas, looks very majestic and peaceful to me. Like I said earlier, reminds me of a simple neighborhood I could live in!

Yes, you can call me Chris, instead of DA if you want to. When I visit a lot of city journals, I have been called by my real name and since we're all friends here I don't see why I can't do it in here as well! 4.gif

nice work, love the Japanese castle garden!

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

You know, I think someone needs to make a mod that removes the tp'd trees from the game. Or at least reduce the number of them, because it seems like there's a lot of them in your cities! 3.gif

Nice job on the Japanese castle. I really like how that brick flower plaza behind the castle connects to the brick paths, it looks good! Also, the cherry trees located at the front of the park are realistic, considering how cherry blossoms really symbolize the Japanese culture. Keep up the beautiful work, Twiggy! 9.gif

Hello all! Sorry for the lack of updates/replies!!  I haven't been playing much SC4 lately, been learning, writing, working, and other important stuff lol 3.gif  But I will try to update soon!

Hey!!  There are lots of residential areas in Tierra, I will include some in the next update for you to choose!  1.gif

    The Big Z

Hey, Z!!   Wow, you have been to Japan? That's really cool.  I'm surprised mine looks better Lol, I figured it must not be very realistic.   Thanks for your comment!

Hey, thanks Leech!  There will be more soon.  (Hopefully.  3.gif)

So I have heard.  I surround nearly everything (well, everything important, at least 3.gif)  with gardens/parks though so it was kind of not on purpose.  18.gif  I've never used Asian architecture and style before, but it was fun to try out something new.  9.gif  Thanks for the suggestion, and the comments!

Hey!!  Wow, that was like the longest comment I think I’ve ever received. 9.gif  That’s cool, I don’t go for realism (6.gif) I know that sounds terrible lol, I just like the pretty buildings and flower gardens and things (I’m such a girl 3.gif). But obviously I want it to look good, and realism usually looks good.  And I love all the different types of architecture, I used to want to be an architect when I was younger. (not so much now but I have no idea what I want to do) I think I’ve heard of that castle, the name sounds familiar, but I’ve never seen a pic (and I certainly haven’t been to Japan recently lol) but I should check it out!  I bet it's beautiful.  Well I would lot mine but the LE takes 15 minutes to come up, thanks to my bulging plug ins folder.  Plus my lotting skills are somewhat, ehm, undeveloped (or lacking entirely, LOL not sure which)  Hmm, so are you implying you’d like a house in a “simple neighborhood”? (I’m on a roll here making houses for people lol so I might as well) I’ll try not to put it next to a TP’ed tree!  (What IS it with TP’ed trees in my cities?!)  Anyway, thanks for the long comment (they’re my favorite 48.gif) See ya, Chris!

    Twiggy,

Sure, whatever sounds good to you.  I don't care which house it is.  They all look pretty nice to me.  Just pick one at random and I'll be surprised next time I come into this thread. 3.gif

I like pretty buildings and gardens, too.  There's nothing better than a city with loads of small, detailed buildings with beautiful gardens in between them versus a dense skyscraper city with little or no plants or trees in them.  And this is coming from someone who likes skyscrapers quite a bit.  But there are always ways to combine the styles and still have it looking good, if you know what I'm talking about.  Like in real life, the way Manhattan is jammed pack full of 'scrapers but there is still enough room for Central Park and several other mediocre-sized parks amidst the buildings.  And you should definitely check out Osaka Castle if you like Japanese architecture or just architecture in general, lol.  Like I said, you won't be disappointed. 4.gif

    See ya soon!

You know what? I also have that same exact problem. It gets me really frustrated, having to bring out the bulldozer and demolishing a long row of small retail shops that grow in my large downtowns. I tend to delete some of the lots that are the root of the problem, but usually I'm forced to keep the lots as I use them for my smaller cities. For me (and probably for you, too), that's the thing I hate the most about SC along with the strange and seemingly random things that always happen to the computer as a result of playing it.

I'll be sure to watch out for the next update. Hopefully another tree won't be around again! 3.gif

To get rid of TP trees on streets, just re-plop one tile of the street near the TP tree. The trees will be replaced, and hopefully the TP tree will go away.

Perhaps we should notify people who made that beautiful stainless steel cheese grater atop 1 ton of chedder cheese? Heres a hint: you are reading his words right now 3.gif

I wonder if the S(M)EX-CHANGE is still open so people can go download it!

    great work Twiggs!

Hey Twigster!  I know this is a little late, but I really like that Mediterranean area you showed on your shopping guide update!  I might have to "borrow" that idea from you.  Oh and nice cheese grater park.

    See ya!

patriots - good work on the cheese-grater BAT, looks sharp.

You know, I don't come around here as often as I should...

AHH 17.gif!  The All-Mighty Cheese Grater emerges once again!  I've done my worship session with it already today (it's in my schedule right after Aleking worshiping and a half-hour before wouanagaine praise time)...now I get to just gaze into its gleeming metal Holey walls...

    So pretty...25.gif

All right!  Back to business...that shopping guide you made on the last page was something special!  I loved it...very unique, I think, and excellent presentation, as well.   Actually...to me it was quite reminiscent of paletexan's CJ Vicivitas, and maybe that's why I really took a liking to it (because I worship that guy every Tuesday).  The Japanese castle/garden looks amazing, as well.  I don't think I've ever seen that BAT before, but what a way to introduce it to me...complete with the cherry blossoms the country is so well known for!

Very nice stuff here (obviously!).  I'll try and stop by a bit more often...who knows, maybe I'll have to take an hour off of Tarkus honoring period to fit in time to follow the teachings of Twiggy....2.gif

    P. S. Wow..."Holey walls"...please tape my fingers together so that I may never type a pun that bad again...34.gif

    P. P. S. I have a TP'ing problem, as well.  You'd think there was a Charmin factory in my town or something...

    ky72x

Hey, Kyle!  I'm glad  I'm not the only one with the repeating building problem.  Some BATs seem to have a greater tendency to repeat than others, and "choke out" all the other custom content.  However, when I delete the offending lot from my plug-ins, another one always takes its place.  I can't win lol.  Well, I used Leech's advice, and it's worked quite well!  Hopefully you shall not be seeing any more Charmin waving in the Tierran breeze.  (That was cheesy! 3.gif)  Thanks for stopping by!  4.gif
