Idiotic Firefighters

I dispatched my city's only fire truck to a street next a raging inferno in the industrial district, and they did nothing while the buildings burned. I had their funding at maximum(before and during the fire), tried redispatching them, and even sent in police units, but nothing worked, and the buildings blew up as the fire spread. The morons didn't even get out of the truck. I don't know if I put in "cowardly firefighters" cheat or what, but this is the first time I've seen this happen on the Deluxe Edition version of the game, or any other for that matter. Anyone else experienced this problem or know what happened?

Not having actually seen what happened i couldnt tell you, but there are a few possibilities:

1)  You really didnt have funding @ maximum

2)  The building was too far from the street

3)  you dispatched to the wrong location

4)  the game simply screwed up.

honestly though, unless your whole city burned to the ground I wouldn't sweat it.  It probably wont happen again.

wow that is weird ive had it happen once and what i did was built a few more stations and then sent them fire fighters to that area that was burning, so i had a total of 5 working trucks on that ha ha ha a five alarm fire lol but that is what i did

I have had this happen to me before too...no actually good or logical reason, I always have a proper fire coverage and water coverage...all the stations were facing the road with road acess to the fire, so i don't get fires all that often...one time i caught the fire engines dispatch to the fire spinning around in circles at an avenue....guess they were bored of something and wanted to play sit-and-spin ???

I always find a spot and plop down a small fire station as close to the fire when it does happen and dispatch them, even if I have to knock something over, so the fire won't spread...causing more havoc...bulldozer it after the fire is put out

ps Rodent it most will likely happen again...i belive the sims asomtimes think of dumb things to do just to make your life a little more difficult

anyway, I have these stupid S-I-M-firefighters aswell.. but I don't care since fires are really not my problem for I have a great precaution

It could be that the building was outside of the coverage, or, it WAS too big that they said: forgetabouit, I ain't gonna die in that fire - lol.

I also dont understand why firefighters stand 5-6 houses away to battle a fire, it's kind of funny looking to see the stream of water spraying that far

I've had the problem and noticed, after awhile, it was always the same building. Fire truck would show up, but the place would burn down. In my case, the building was a downloaded building and thought there might be a conflict, but being functionally challenged with SC4Tool, Reader, etc, I couldn't figure if this was the case. How I solved the problem was to put the City Wide Firestation from the STEX in every city with this building. Never had a problem since. It was infuriating when it happened because there was nothing I could do to put it out, including dispatching 8 fire companies to the site.

If for some reason, the firemen sit by the fire and watch it, I find the UDI fire truck helps a lot. (for once)

Just download a city wide fire station from the STEX.  Try this link:

Search around for one you like, download it and place it in your SC4 plugins.  Then plop it  when you play next . If you need more detailed instructions PM me, but just about anyone here can help. Fighting fires is a waste of valuable city planning time. Enjoy!

I've had fire fighters do this but not to the point where the building blew up/burned down.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think coverage is the issue, I think coverage is just for automatic fire control... usually when I have a fire and send the fire trucks, it's to somewhere outside the coverage zone, some times completely on the other side of town.

I've seen the fire truck pull up, nobody gets out but the fire still gets put out anyway.

The Problem:has Installed what that modes and all firemans stations decrease in financing at the end of the month to 0 ,what is that modes that reduces financing beside fireman?

hmm the fire fighters not work?

maybe go to drive-it and stop the fire you self?

or maybe there something blocking the way like:

street/road/ave/highway is far from the fire

there a police car/van that blocking the way to the fire fighters..

its happen much times that police blocking way if you call them first..

or maybe there something wrong with the One Way Road ...

or you have mods that screw you game or you not funded the fire fighter to maximum ..
